Sonic Mania is good, yes, but, every level except 6 acts have practically identical layouts to past Sonic games, making it feel like the same games, so because of that which plagues it, Sonic 3 and Knuckles is just a touch better than Sonic Mania
Im currently on my vacation from sonic its cause the new content just isnt as fun as before its either too easy or too hard and the older games got a bit too easy for me and my mom wont let me use better sadx for some dumb reason so now i cant play sonic adventure without it feeling crappy
Classic Sonic winning is such copout it's insane. The 3D games were objectivly more beloved, had better gameplay, brought way more people into the franchise and were more challenging than the simple and quite frankly overrated Classic formula. No Twitter incell or Classic fanboy can debate againts this facts.
when i first played Sonic 2 (6-8 yo) i SUFFERED with Chemical Plant zone (specially the boss). When i finally managed to beat it after ONE AND A HALF MONTHS i just speedran the rest of the game lol. I also recall strugling with wing fortress and giving up on the death egg :( Sonic 2 was my first experience with the Sonic franchize and one of the first games i played!
If I had to describe Nintendo and Sega today, it would be that Nintendo would be the Disney/Pixar of gaming due to high quality and consistency with a few dark eras but ending up getting back on top. While Sega would be the Dream Works equivalent of gaming, mainly due to their inconsistency edgy characters and humor and back-and-forth highs and lows in their products.
The only sonic game i ever found entertaining and fun was Shadow the hedgehog. Sure the story is bad but i found it gave me the most freedom to mive around, even with the hard and not reliable controls, i learned to play it well, and its not that difficult, and after that i was speed running not only completing the level but also killing every single enemy in the stage and still get a good rank. (Plus i can shoot some mfs) Sorry but i hate modern 3d sonic mainline games that lock me in rails to just mindlessly boost and bounce with no level of skills required, its borderline boring. Also the multiplayer was just fun deathmatch against your friends. Not many people know but theres actually co-op in the campaing, the 2nd controller can control certain characters that follow you and are able to attack, like sonic, knucles, Amy, Vector, etc. I would ask my brother to try and kill as much as he could while i played. 😂 He would voice act sonic and act flabbergasted like "Lets go Shadow- HOLY SHIT IS THAT A GUN YOU HAVE
Sonic fans are very mixed You see after Sonic 06 SEGA tried to move on from it by creating games, Secret Rings and Unleashed having a darker tone story us adventure fans love and while Black Knight is no expectation it also had multiple playable characters. While Unleashed and Black Knight get praised today ane they're loved back in 2000's they WEREN'T EVEN GIVEN A CHANCE! Back when those came out fans immediately dismissed it before they even played it It didn't matter how good those games ACTUALLY were in 2000's if 06 was bad then Sonic was bad and they were Sonic games so THEY WERE BAD! It wasn't until Colors came out that the fans started liking Sonic again. Colors and Generations were left with such great reviews and Unleashed had a mediocre ranking so SEGA wanted to add more to it Lost World was not liked so then they went back to the stuff from Colors and Generations and made Forces and NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN fans wanted the stuff from the adventure games back like multiple playable characters! And then forces slipt the fans in the worst way possible, But the thing is it WASN'T SEGA's fault THE FANS wouldn't let SEGA move on from 06 and let's face it Sonic fans will never be happy no matter what So I just ignore and stay as a Sonic fan and am bound to my opinion no matter what anyone says
One fan game I played did something really cool. It had momentum mechanics along with boosting. What was special about it? Boosting didn’t automatically get you up to top speed. Even though you can use boost to instantly get up to high speeds and maintain those speeds, it’s through the use of momentum and skill that allows you to move even faster than what the boost can do alone. Now that’s smart game mechanics.
don't blame me, im not a fan of classic Sonic games, but Sonic Mania made the change to me, tbh Sonic Mania is the only game that entertains me, and I agree with sonic 06, heroes, forces, boom rise of lyric, What's your opinion on sonic frontiers?
These people finna hate me for this but imma say it anyway My favorite stage In the sonic series is 1-2 from frontiers but before that it was emeralds coast
i genuinely teared up in the SA1 section of the video SA1 is, in my opinion, THE Sonic experience and i found myself agreeing with what you said to the point where i felt as if you copied the way i feel about this game word by word Sure, it might have its flaws but it's still such a legendary game for me Even gameplay wise, the diversity of the playable characters, the open level design that allows you to perform some insane skips are so well made It just feels as if Sega took what made Sonic well... Sonic and implemented it into the game perfectly Sonic as a series is all about replayability and even to this day, after 14-15 years of playing this game, i find myself improving on levels in ways i never thought possible. I keep finding more and more skips and glitches to the point where i learned how to beat every sonic level in station square before even clearing Emerald Coast And all of these skips feel intentional For example, it would be so easy for them to add an invisible wall around the roller coaster tower in twinkle park but they didnt, allowing you to immediately skip to the pool section. Hell, there's even a hidden platform around that area which you're not "normally" supposed to go to. And i completely agree about the fact that if i were to make a new Sonic game, i would 100% base the level design and the controls off of this one. Everything comes together so nicely to create this amazing experience that just gets better and better the more you play it which is what the essence of Sonic, as a whole, is. Im genuinely so glad that i have poured so much time into this game cause the experience is second to none, in my opinion
Brother is only one problem with this game the emblems caring them is the most fast trading part of this game and slow set down from being amazing how to know that the game is perfection of just made the emblems like a side thing and not for not connected to the main stages
i mostly agree except with the story part first making the speed levels the only requirement has a lot of problems and yes i agree having to play as other characters is pace breaking i even hate other characters' gameplay, they are just boring to me but making it only the speed levels as you said will make it so you have to change a lot of the cutscenes and also it will make the game short af the speed levels aren't that much it will make the game shorter than sa1 Sonic's story so while i don't like other game modes you just can't split the stories it will make too much problems.
Classic sonic music is like someone addicted to weed they cling to it like sega clings to replicating that retro feeling of the retro music and fails every time
In my opinion, Sonic heroes can be considered a spin off game from the adventure era, because it has similar gameplay, but with different aesthetics, it's like comparing Sonic unlheashed to Sonic colors , both are boost games, but with different proposals and aesthetics
Let's be honest here. People always hate on Sontails shippers just for the dam age, I mean, honestly. If you gonna say, that's the real age, and it's not okay. That means you can't ship. Sonadow If you look up his real age, it will say 50+ I just want to say don't let nobody judge you what you ship make their ages and ship sontails too and sonamy fans always judge another sonic ships for no reason but like I said its your au ignore mean comments
Both ice cap and launch base had kick ass music that i always enjoyed to listen while playing. Then origins came and ruined the music. It's so unbare able that i no long look foward to playing the levels and that goes for carnival night as well. Funny enough Knuckles considers hydrocity zone as "the toilet" and that what he calls it😅.
there are two major issues with Sonic trying to compete with Mario First is how they can be adapted to 3D. Mario adapts easily to 3D because his whole thing is jumping and stomping enemies. I don’t think Sonic has as easy of a time because his main gimmick is moving fast. How do you do a game focused around that in a 3D platformer? The other thing is sheer variety of Mario games. Just going on what games have been released in the last 5 years, we’ve had a Tetris game, a racing game, Luigi’s mansion 3, paper Mario, Mario golf, Mario soccer, two remakes of turn based rpgs, princess peach showtime, warioware, and all of this on top of some solid 2D entries like wonder If Sonic wanted to compete, first thing I’d think they’d need to do is to ensure their 2D games get a solid formula and occasionally do the big HD remaster/re-releases of past good games. Then spend time hammering out the details for what makes a good 3D Sonic game and do that. All of the 3D Mario games seem to work so well because they’re largely built on the solid foundation laid by super Mario 64, so Sonic would need something similar
I think sonic frontiers is a good boosting game just because it doesn't follow the philosophy of donoc rush doesn't make it a bad Boosting game cause here's tye thing yes it is nerfed but buffed at the same time yes it's nerfed because the invincibility boostis gone but at the same time you have a great control over the boost compare to previous tiltles..you are in control not the game
Sonic unleashed is so amazing, I loved the game as a kid and still love the game, the soundtrack was amazing plus eggman was in his prime in this game, he had his funny moments but at the same time he was the most serious in this game out of all the sonic games, tbh it was nice to see eggman truly filling his role as a serious villain and proving how much of a master mind he really was, like in this game he managed to capture super sonic and drain him of his powers. No other version of eggman has ever done that. As well as he wasn’t just trying to keep sonic out of his was like normally, this time he was truly trying to kill him. Idk seeing eggman in this game fully sold me.
I really mind romances in sonic but the only time I do mind if sonic dateing amy. I don't understand why they want sonic to date a 12 year old even though he's 16 🤮
funny enough hydrocity was the only second zone i *didn't* get past as a kid. i beat sonic 1 and got to the final bosses of 2 and cd but couldn't beat hydrocity 😭
