Den kristne kirke fejrer fødselsdag i pinsen og endelig synger Københavns Drengekor igen! Det er således med stor glæde at vi lørdag d. 30. maj kl. 19 kan invitere til en virtuel pinsevesper i Vor Frue Kirke, Københavns Domkirke i kraft af denne helt særlige vesperproduktion skabt af alle i og omkring Københavns Drengekor.
Præludiet Locus Iste er fejringen af den kirke vi synger i. Veni sancte spiritus markerer Helligåndens komme, og motetten Sommersalme er en hyldest til årstiden og lyset, der nu er vendt tilbage i en fornyet verden, der langsomt åbner sig.
I postludiet Fred hviler over land og by mindes vi en tid, hvor gaderne stod tomme, og fremfor alt mindes vi dem, vi har mistet under Coronapandemien.

Really excellent! Superb tone, balance, phrasing, ensemble. Vigorous, ringing trebles ... and the fully adult lower voices really ground the choir. As so many of the last UK traditional choirs become mixed-voice and give up the ability to sing centuries of music as composers intended, the world will look to you to preserve this vital strand in Western culture.

I so much agree with you about the sad destruction of traditional male voice choirs in the UK going on right now. Choirs with 6, 7 8 or more centuries of tradition behind them, destroyed in a moment for entirely ideological reasons. It makes me almost weep with fury! Why is it other countries value their traditions, but apparently we don't? I am not so sure about the adult men - I personally feel that treble voices blend best with young male voices as in choirs like the Thomanerchor in Leipzig. In fact, I think having boys singing both treble and alto in such choirs, then moving on to sing tenor and bass, is perhaps one reason they are more resilient now than Anglican choirs, where it is so easy to force female altos in on the basis of 'equality'.

Amazing to see these boys singing with social distancing in force. May the Holy Spirit bestow on them and guide them all the way. The boys sang at 5:20 & 23:40 are cute because of their long hair.
