I LOVE this horse!!! I saw him on line as a 3 yr old and considered purchasing him. because I am an 'older' amateut, my trainer discouraged me from pursuing him [I would have had him gelded]...I purchased an older SWB School Master but have been following Orca for the past 4 yrs. He is NOT pure Friesian but whatever he was crossed with produced a lovely horse with LOVELY gaits. His color is spectacular! I hope he passes his good qualities to his offspring, I'd love to see him in person!
Hey guys just wanted to point out that this is not a full bred Friesian, in the description it says "NASD / Friesian"; NASD stands for North American Spotted Draft.
Orca is a absolutley lovely example of his type Simply lovely , while I love friesens, they seldom stamp their offspring to produce such a special horse. Congrates
I don't care if this horse is pure bred or not, I'd put a mare to him just for that gate, he is wonderful. And his coloring and his head position are flawless. He is a great piece of horse flesh and I hope you count yourself lucky to own him.
WOW! 2:06 is an amazing capture! Crazy envious of his trot, when he extends it somewhere around 2:27 or thereafter he's got a full 2 second moment of suspension!!! He's such a great horse! Congratulations!
He looks amazing! He is beautiful! I bet it would be absolutley phenomenol to ride such a horse! I hope he is always taken care of with extreme levels of care and affection. I am sure he is however
Most famous pinto Friesian is a Dutch Friesian called Bonte Willem van Nassau. Beautiful horse. Friesian. They gave them a seperate studbook now called Barock Pinto.
He's what's usually known in the UK as a "hairy piebald cob". A well-made one, but not too different from the kind of horse you'll find in riding stables up and down the country.
Thank you Zada2011 for great comments, instead of resorting to juvinile name calling. I am not now, or ever been a "loser". My concern for these beautiful creatures is real. It's nice to know that there are other people out there that will share thier insights and opinions in a mature and thoughtful way. Thank you!
While I'm definitely used to solid black Friesians this fellow is very handsome and I love his lofty springy trot full of power. I wonder if he's ever been given Dressage training as he'd certainly be good at it. I can only dream what a foal from him would be like. You're lucky to have him and I wish you much success with him and his offspring. :)
What a pretty guy!! Such a fancy trot! Once had a friesian with a white foot. Got him cheap because of that, and then he turned totally black later on. :P
I am not fortunate enough to aspire to 'own' one of these magnificent, majestic creatures. But if I were. I could see 'creating' a RU-vid video, where my mount is outfitted with 'western' tack. And I'm riding to the strains of 'Blazing Saddles', sung by the great Frankie Laine!
@Saartje05 Chestnut is the recessive allele of the E gene, which also codes for the dominant black allele. It is very very rare but chestnut is possible in Friesians if you have two Heterogeneous parents.
it takes 8 hours a day for this acheivement , plus 2 hours cleaning plus once a month visit to the vet, special food and special and lovingly people taking care of him. We do love him . thanks a lot.
so pretty when i am older i am going to cross a friesian with a clydesdale i bet it will look so pretty i am going to own a friesian farm!!! friesians are so pretty mostly yours hes just so perfect and stunning!
I wish people thatave these partbred Friesians would call them as such. Instead of giving them missleading names such as Pinto, Leopard or White. Pure Friesians ONLY come is Black with no other markings.
Actually they are breeding out the Red gene intentionally. There are Chesnut and Bay Friesians that are purebred but not recognized by the FPS or FHANA. Early on when the Friesian was more Draft like is was cross bred with other horses to create a lighter all around riding and family horse. There is alot of Friesian lines that were mixed with Andalusian's that is why you see a huge variation in the feathering. The lighter horses bred to Andalusian carried the red gene. Hence the different colors came about. The older more pure lines are not fancied by todays registries because they are baroque and less versatile in their minds..
brynscores I have a friend of mine who breeds them and they are only black. Any other color that pop up is disqualified as a Friesian. www.fhana.com/the-fresian-horse/faq
To everyone. Possibly before you comment about the fact that he is a cross breed and not a pure bred friesian, you'll save yourself some commenting time if you read the second line of the uploader's comment.
Yup! Plus, look at its body type, structure, its mane/tail, the head. it doesn't even look like a Friesian aside of the color! Also, thank you for being a regular person who actually knows things about horses lol
Friesian horses DO NOT only come in Black although that is the primary color for them. Fire Magic is a PUREBRED Chestnut Friesian and he is Red. Orca is a very beautiful Friesian/Pinto cross with superb lines. If he's been registered with the Friesian Heritage Horse Society then they consider him MORE Friesian than Pinto. He's breathtaking. And for those that say that Fire Magic isn't a Friesian think again..
