Just when you thought we were out of the game, we're back atcha with another hot 'n' spicy 240V level 2 electric vehicle charger. This one is the Pion Power Flex-AC EV Charger, and we are using it to charge vehicles at scenic Emily's house. It also has an app, but we forgot to install it. From the app you can adjust current, stop and start the charger, and do the other useful EV charger things.

My understanding is that the plug/cable is limited to 12 inches. And there are rules about how high the charger must be off the ground (e.g. to accomodate any fume buildup, or snow/flooding outdoors). My NEMA 14-50 outlet is also installed that orientation, with the EVSE charger above it, so I think that's typical. I'm not sure code specifies an orientation; if not, then flipping it might be preferable. You could always mount the unit sideways at least, then it shouldn't fall out of the mount. Secure it with a zip tie or something.

Questions I'd have are, can I toggle the charge rate somehow without the app, or is the app required for that? With the 120V adapter, can it charge at a rate appropriate for a 20A outlet (downrated to 80% of course) and not be limited to 1.4 kW as if it were a 15A outlet? And do they sell other adapters such as 10-30 dryer style plug?
