Pioneer DJ DDJ-1000SRT Unboxing | First look with Serato 

I bought the DDJ 1000 w Rekordbox a few months ago. It is the best controller I’ve ever used! Just an amazing piece of hardware. My fellow DJ’s who are Serato users.... you are gonna love this controller! I’m so happy Pioneer released the DDJ 1000 for Serato DJ’s! Bout time! BTW, I absolutely love Rekordbox, but I’m glad Serato users can finally buy this controller!

I got my Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT today and was testing it out for the first time. I'm upgrading from a Vestax VCI - 400. The issue i have is that the JogWheels on my DDJ-1000SRT is not sensitive enough. Is there a way i can adjust the sensitivity? I see the adjust knob where i can adjust the tension but i can't find a control for the sensitivity of the Jog wheels

So I change the color of the track (red is explicit and green is clean versions) and in Serato the color of the deck in the software changes to that color. Does the color change on this controller as well?

Someone made a great point on DJ City Mojaxx review on my comment regarding the jog wheel display and it had me think outside my box. Serato should really come out with a full screen display like the Denon Prime 4 with CDJ-2000NXS2 decks and DJM900 standard functions along with being Serato DJ Pro ready as a controller I think this would really raise eyebrows.

After 5,000 units does it still come with a serato dj suite license or something like that?

I actually owned the ddj1000 w/Rekordbox and i was.... excited with platters and all, just Rekordbox is not my Thing.... i prefers Serato version now.... Great video and i uses Turntables... my 1000 Pioneer decks, Which is my Thing... and i was innitally bias against This with just being..... What’s up Matt, Something I wanted to point out, is the cue buttons when pressed on each channel shares the same as the headphones. I’m other words, the headphones and the master output is not separated. I’ll turn up my headphones volume and it will come out as master. I’m using virtual DJ and I wonder if that is a glitch in virtual dj? Plus when I hook up to Serato, it does not recognize my DDJ 1000 SRT. Any tips would be appreciated. Also end users of the DDJ 1000 must download the driver for this controller or it will not work. Thanks in advance Matt. Other than that, this is a outstanding controller and I am happy I invested in this machinery!

Does work right the way when you plug it into the laptop with Serato or you need to register it or buy the Serato?

for some strange reason serato 2.2.2 won't read my ITUNES music... when i type a song up from my iTunes nothing pops up. i have to drag the song from spotlight search or itunes itself

Yes mate hope your good are you part of pioneer or seratoDJ. Just one downside of this controller for me. Doesn’t have needles scratch apart from that yes it’s a decent controller I’ve just purchased it about 4 days ago

love the jogs - that's the main reason I'm thinking of buying it (I have the SX3). But VERY disappointed that there are no Flip buttons!! I use flips EVERYWHERE!! :( :( Can you map them to another button? And, if yes, will the button light up when Flip is engaged like it does on the SX3? Also very disappointed that there is no dedicated vinyl brake/stop knob!! :( :( It's on the Nexus CDJs so it SHOULD have been here too. Last, does anyone know if it will fit, specifically, in my DJC-SC5 Pioneer bag that all the DDJ-SX models do?

why does this cost more than the rekordbox version?? it doesn't even show the waveforms on the jogwheels

1. Does this unit feel "cheap" (faders, buttons, wheels etc) like another user said?? 2. Does it have a vinyl brake speed knob? If not, can this be midi adjusted to another knob? 3. Are all knobs, sliders, buttons etc midi-mappable? 4. Do you think it would be possible to change the look of the jog displays in the future, via a firmware update? (They don't look as beautiful as the ddj-1000's do) And with a future update to add more info on the displays? Or is that a hardware-impossibility? 5. Having to find the shift button to press it, as you say, in order to half/double the loop size sound plain stupid. Do you think that a software/firmware update could fix this by eliminating the need to press the shift button?? 6. Will SDJ selecting Quantize on SDJ apply to the looping buttons of this unit so that perfect beatgrid-loops are made (just like with any other DDJ-SX controller)? 7. It would be great if you could enlist all the main differences between this unit and its predecessors (the DDJ-SX3 and the DDJ-SZ2 so that all potential buyers could clearly see if the "upgrade" to this controller is necessary! :) :)

will the ddj1000 (not the srt) work with serato dj? I have serato dj licence so hope you will enable this. love the rekordbox, but 2nd setup is on 1210 and serato soooo it would be great if this would work

I would buy this tomorrow it it had fader curves on the hardware. Which I adjust as I preform all the time. I find it hard to believe it’s only on the software, poor decision by pioneer, design obviously a technician and not someone who DJs and used curve control in a live environment

Has anyone tried to fit a ddj-1000srt in the pioneer djc-sc5 bag to see if it will fit in real-life? Only an actual attempt will answer this! ;) (BTW. The width of the 1000 srt is 4.4 cm wider than the sx2/sx3 units that the djc-sc5 soft bag was made for; and the heights and depths of both ddj units are approx the same - but maybe IN REAL-LIFE the 1000srt WILL fit in the djc-sc5 soft bag?) (I want to see if I'll have to buy another bag too if i buy the 1000 srt - or if I can use the one I have) ;)

Yay, Pioneer release a controller which has the same features as a 3yr old Denon mc7000. Actually the mc7000 does a fair bit more than this and costs less.

What’s better the DDJ SZ2 Or This 🤔

1. Ok, terrible that they've taken away the Stop Speed knob that is super-handy in the SZ2, but let's hope that you can midi-map the function to another knob (just like I have done on my SX3)... 2. I REALLY think that the SILVER Color Filter knobs on the SZ2 look waay better than the cheap-looking black ones do on the 1000SRT. :( :( 3. Where have the VERY useful Flip buttons gone?? (they exist on the SZ2, the SX2 and SX3 but I can't see them on the 1000SRT..) 4. Why are the EQ knobs not full-kill on the 1000SRT, just like they are on the 1000 and on ALL the other DDJ models???

No Artwork! Display on jog wheel screen lacks in vital information that the Rekordbox version already had. That's part of what we were expecting to receive when a Serato version of DDJ-1000 is released. An indirect example I'm talking about is, for instance the pads on this DDJ-1000SRT displays exactly what your computer would display with cue points illuminated, activated and color coordinated so you don't need to second guess and look at your computer for that information. The same should've of been done for each jog wheel center display where track Artwork or switching to text display for those who want to utilizing the controller functions with minimal computer button pushing and screen searching. I'm a visual selector so I pick songs from my library like picking up sleeves in a vinyl crate or CD case, all my tracks have artwork and I find it much easier & faster for myself to feel and pick the track to play just by looking at it like we used to. Call it bad habits but I'm sticking with my Serato DVS and glancing at the computer in crates for track selecting and needle dropping to cue points and mixing it all up with my creative taste on a DJM900. Maybe next time Serato & Pioneer will figure it out or maybe a firmware update fix...

I own Ddj 1000 I was a previous user of Serato and I move to Rekordbox Just for Ddj 1000. To be honest this unit will not bring me back to Serato. What really would me bring back to Serato software is a full compatibility with ableton file warping import and so on. This Is a Hint to Serato Guys Just think out of the box and work on what Pioneer can't do for commercial reason... You tried with studio but honestly can't compete with any Daw at the moment
