The brand new 1000 srt costs like 50 bucks more than the rev-5 in my country, i love the battle layout but 50 bucks more for two more channels and hardware fx damn 😢
Pioneer DJ literally just answered my prayers and then some with the DDJ-REV5! I’ve been saying for MONTHS, I hoped they would make something that’s above my adored DDJ-REV1 but under the DDJ-REV7 I already own the RANE One so I don’t need another flagship just something more professional (w/RGB lighting, XLR output etc) than my REV1. Same thought process as the DJM-S11, DJM-S7 and DJM-S5 Pioneer DJ even drooped a Magvel fader 🎚️ in it!? USB-C power and connectivity! Wow 🤩 Take My Money 💰
Funny, I was debating between the Rev7 and the FLX10. Well, this is the answer: Rev5, exactly what I needed + more. The Auto BPM feature for open format DJs is just fantastic, and you didn't even demonstrate the Autoloop function that can be used while Auto BPMing :) Great review!
Bro, I'm not even a battle DJ. I play more main stage EDM, or clubs with CDJ 3000's and shit, but I can't help but be fascinated with what you guys do, and I'm preatty stoked about the Pioneer takeover of the vinyl world, I might even pick up a couple of their new record players.
This is my very first upgrade and I am super excited!!! I currently have a DDJ-400 and am working professionally at 3 venues and starting to get consistent gigs.. just bought the Rev-5 today! It should be here in a few days and I am super pumped. Thanks for the review!!
Great preview, Nick. Basically, this is a budget Rev 7 with an amazing beatmatching feature. I put a high value on the motorized platter, myself, but if price was a limiting factor I'd go with this.
This is perfect for open format and battle-style DJs who want to upgrade from the Rev1 or don't want to spend a lot for the Rev7. I am waiting for Pioneer DJ to come wth a smaller version of the FLX 10.
the Facial Expressions are WILD and EPIC😳😳😩🤣NICK You are THE REALEST👏🏽😅your Videos are Great!!!!! Your Honesty and REALEST Takes’… definitely Appreciates it!!!!!
This looks like my exact type of controller. It is at a price point where I wont be mad when Pioneer announces their inevitable motorized controller with stems. It probably fits in my DJ furniture. Great review, especially the notes on pad size and internal FX.
Ok this may not be a popular opinion, but the reason for putting decks in battle mode back in day, was in order to have more control and not make tone arms jump when scratching and backspining etc. You put up with having the pitch control in that awkward horizontal position, to get that benefit. No reason to have pitch up there when you don't have tonearms.
Wild to have a pioneer controller above $1000 with no onboard effects. Tough decision, rev7 is in my DJ furniture. Looking for a travel/non wedding unit. If no onboard I’m leaning toward the herc T7 but maybe I’ll warm up to the rev5
I have the rev1 & bought a rev7 a few months ago, sadly I just sent my 7 back to be fixed and just copped the rev 5 yesterday. I hope I’ll enjoy learning this controller.
Hey, what happened to your first one? (Your first Rev 1). Did it break or something? … my Rev 1 is giving me some jog wheel problem when I scratch and I had since they released it (it like drifts and sometimes doesn’t want to respond to my scratches and drifts at the same time when that happens)… so I’m considering maybe to buy a second one like you… let me know… thanks.
I use it mainly to just fix tracks (edit cue points, samples, prep mixes, get ideas, fix crates, etc, etc on the road on the go since it’s small and light to carry around) and sometimes also even record little mixes here and there just in case… so it is useful to me… let me know… thanks 🙏
@@mazusub8182this same situation happened to me… and i had to sell it because i figured what it was. My macbook pro can not update anymore. And that affects the controller directly. Gladly i stayed with my ddj-sx2 and still rocking places with that. If i want any newer controller, changing my macbook is a must now 😅
Thanks for the thorough and in-depth walk thru. I disagree on one thing. You can use the Rev1 in a professional environment. I would like to know why you said that about the Rev1 tho. I do just fine with mines. 🤷🏻♂️
"I wish I could have [eq stems] this on every mixer" *laughs in VDJ* But really, nice review dude. In depth, detailed...you and CT nailed it. It'll be interesting to see how sales go with it for sure.
I’ve had the 1000 srt since it’s been out and I’ve really enjoyed it. Having said that, this is the controller that us mobile guys wanted from the start. For us using furniture, the 4 channel mixer never made sense. Having the unit in the furniture makes the third and fourth decks useless imo. I think I’d miss the jog wheel display that the 1000 has but would take this over the rev 7 jog display. To me the rev 7 display had too much going. If I were in the market for a new controller this would be it but I think I’m gonna ride the 1000 until the wheels for off.
@@P4boot I’m used to switching now. At first I would instant double everything so I didn’t have to switch the effects lol. The 4 channels were just never a need for me either. I get what pioneer was doing when they made the 1000 though.
Haha, the auto transmission "silence" says it all what you think about it. How does Rekordbox uses the bass and melody stems buttons as it doesn't have separate stems for that?
Hey brotha. I need to buy a new laptop.. which Mac are you using ?? I had a beefed up 2015 that’s been a workhorse, but I want to start doing stems, with Serato and prob a Rane 4, I have the Rane 1 now, but miss having 4 channels..
Hmmmmm....I have noticed (and I'm pretty sure thousands of others on this YT channel have too) that over the you are tending to do more product reviews/endorsements than gig logs, tips and tricks, ideas of how you set up your DJ system & the good and bad of the DJ game etc....but I guess that getting free gear in exchange for promoting their product on your channel is pretty good for you.
Niiicccceeeeee.... got rid of my 1000srt for ddj -Rev 7.... I would of got Rev 5 if it came out before Rev 7..... But I'm good for a while.... great recommendation for Rev 1 guys... Rev 3 next
The Rane one didn’t have hardware effects and that was a deal breaker, pioneer brings out a controller with only software effects and it’s the best thing ever. People are crazy.
I wish they would have kept the platter display like the SRTs. I always wanted the SRT to have an S style mixer...and the on board FX were always better than the Serato ones but it looks like a great offering and for only $1,099.... Speaking of, does Serato have a reverse/pull back effect?
I was just saying its time for a new professional high but mid tier controller. I'm reluctant on taking my rev-7 out the house. This is more likey going to be a purchase I make.
I got the Inpulse T7 yesterday which is a toy, cheap build quality. Was looking for a back up to my Rev 7 and the Hercules def doesn’t hold up and my fx lever was bent and defective right out the box it’s getting returned. May get a Rev 5 even though I’m not the biggest fan of mechanical platters.
I have been using the DDJ 1000 for Rekordbox for the last 5 years. If I were to get this DDJ REV 5 is this a downgrade or an upgrade for me ? Lol Im only asking because I’ve read comments that the REV 5 is an upgrade to the DDJ 800.. so whats it compared to the 1000? Either way I couldn’t resist. I already ordered the Rev 5. Im still gonna use the rekordbox software, I just hope the steams work and sound better on the 5 than the stems they gave us for the 1000.
Never liked the SRT due to the mechanical jogs. Sold it for the Rev 7 for that very reason. Hercules T7 is sounding like a better choice for me personally and a bit cheaper.
