In this video I'll run a quick and dirty test to see which mixer has more output with the levels looking the same.

Yes the fader on the A9 is not centered

You can see it’s set to hard cut on crossfader setting switch which gives you full volume when you cut in

Thanks for doing this video comparison Steve. No other vids on RU-vid like this so please continue :). In my opinion, the V-10 is clearly in another league and now that Stems are here to stay, four channels might actually not be enough for the DJ who loves to layer and use multiple sends. I’d love to see more comparisons between these two. Perhaps throw your S-11 in there also ;)

Hey Steve mate what’s the best way to sync cdj 3000 in standalone mode to midi for drum machines sequencers , i have a tr8s too. What is the best solution? I have an Allen & Heath Xone 96 at the moment but I’m thinking of going to a pioneer mixer …. Many thank Chris

Your A9 has crossfader assigned on ch 3. Your crossfader doesn't seems to be all the way to the side. If that's correct, that would affect the post fader signal strength.

Hello Mr Steve , I just would like to thank you for your time for making this wonderful video and for sharing all the informations , I just would like to know please if you can help me with real length x width x height of the DJM v10 please , with that information I think a lot of DJs will have to make sure that they have already case that fit from the existing equipment or they have to consider buying new case or bag for the new upgrade , because on pioneer website sometimes the numbers are very confusing , thank you so much Steve 😉

The V10 firmware is apparently designed to have a more sluggish impulse response with slow rise & fall than the A9 and prior Pioneer digital mixers in order to replicate imperfect analog mixers.

6 channels requires more headroom than 4 channels when summing the full channel counts. So of course the V10 will have a bigger sound especially when you are playing your typical DJ sets where it’s mostly been used. Its more by accident people have discovered the benefit of a bigger headroom claiming audio is better on this mixer especially in your typical DJ sets. In the analog domain good quality rotary mixers like Alpha Recording Systems have always had tons of headroom. Its always been a redeeming feature of many rotary mixers going way back to the 70 and 80s. Taken from good quality production consoles. So to me it’s been designed this way.

Finally someone that gets me. I do not understand how people would justify 6k on an digital mixer. It blows my mind.

Djm 900nxs2 is louder than djm a9 and my speakers & bass sounds starts clipping with djm a9 and that is really bad what pioneer did. Period. … I tried many setting on a9 to make it loud but nothing worked

@@djjas764 I own the A9 and don’t have any issues and run the latest version of Traktor. And is probably one of best sounding DJMs and never rated the previous versions at all. I have compared to my RME Babyface Pro FS which is a very good studio sound card. Which also has ESS converter chips. I have actually lowered the main output for home in the main settings to -9 . And run Traktor at -6 for external mixing. You can also set the reds or clipping in the setting menu on the A9. Now the worst thing you can do with digital is over drive the signal. The previous version had no clipping which was bad. Without looking at your setup specifics and what you are using as players or software . Your signal to me sounds too hot or your clipping is not set correctly. Louder doesn’t mean better sound as well. Plenty of headroom in this mixer.

Thanks for writing. Let me explain to you my last bad experience at my event with the A9. Mixer A9 was connected with CDJ 3000 via digital cables which came with 3000's and I chose the main output XLR to my PA system instead of digital out. The master volume was set to 1 o'clock approx and I pushed another track to mix, the mixer started clipping and started giving me the feeling something was compressing like a ducking sound that might be coz of the limiter was active by default into the setting, But with DJM 900nxs2 when I was at 1 o clock the sound was more and it wasn't clipping. Pretty strange. The sound quality of the mixer is good, but the loudness is less.

Oh that’s just what you need. Just checked my mixer. There’s a peak limiter setting next to the ATT. (Output leve) setting in the menu. Which I understand is new to the A9. It sounds like this was too low. But also can be turned off. Or maybe the 3000 output level was set too high. Although I don’t own the 3000s as it way too much money but you could check the manual. Was it all hire gear?

I just bought the V10, it gets very hot, i can barely keep my hand under it. It s like melting… and have a smell like is melting materials. Is this happening because its new? It is normal to be so hot ? I think it has 60-70 degrees under mixer 😳🤬

I would like you to compare DJM V10 and Xone 96 with rmx1000. Tomorrow the postman will bring me DJM A9 and I would like to know which mixer with 4eq is better because I want to play with 4eq in the future

The V10 was my first mixer with a 4-band EQ. From this point on now, a 4-band EQ is going to be a must. In addition, the V10 has more send-returns for effects than the Xone-96. I had the Xone-96, while the Xone had a warmer sound, the clarity is unrivaled with the V10. I can always add warmth via an Eventide effects processor.
