Dude what an excellent video. REALLY excited for your future content. I've been dying for an A9 vs. V10 comparison. I have the V10 and am loving it currently.. but only just barely begun to dive into its potential.
glad yours finally arrived. you'll enjoy how well the v10 pairs with the cdj3000s. i was super lucky and picked up the v10 moments before covid shortages became a thing and i've been "finding jesus" lol every day since (awkward amen). the S&R routing possibilities should give you material for at least ten or so v10 tutorial videos. the compressor is great for loudening non-digital and/or unmastered audio, which is ideal for blending in the djs-1000. speaking of, the v10 and DJS-1000, extra channels means, well, extra channels so i can consistently setup the DJS as a two mono channel machine using two independent mixer channels: mostly i keep the kick panned hard left and everything else hard right on the DJS internal mixer which translates to a kick that is more present & more useable. the v10 is deep in potential and deeply different than every other dj mixer i've ever owned or used. maybe it's less about 'finding jesus' and more about conquering heaven. or something
@@TheDJLab lol an often overlooked technique older than the stars themselves...pretty much any machine with multiple voices each with their own PAN parameter setting (ie. hard L or R pan) AND with an audio OUT port that is either a TRS stereo out (like a 1/8" or 1/4" headphone out) or dual mono TS outs (L/R OUT like on the DJS-1000 - which gives you the choice of RCA or 1/4" L/R outs). most recently technique is very useful on the Roland Boutique drum machines which have a single out but its an 1/8" stereo out (TR-09, TR-06).
@@TheDJLab here's a v10-centric (mis)use that i originally experimented with on the xone96, but due to the infinitely more usable secondary headphone cue system on the v10, its worth checking out: the secondary cue system (cue2) can act as a fourth (4th!) SEND output SOURCE which has ch1-6 selectable in any combination (just use the little cue button per channel) or master and/or a blend/mix of cue and master which can either be standard post-fader sends (like the other three sends) OR PRE-FADER SENDS (since its for headphone cueing) ie. you can live sample on the DJS-1000 (via this '4th SEND' approach) any of the v10 six channels without having to ever play the sample source on the master (out loud). OR you could route a channel pre-fader through an fx box and then physically plug it into channels 1-6 giving you a both DRY and WET versions of audio signal OR go crazy and route directly into a return track which could then allow you to do any number of weird routing things some of which are neat others with the potential to cause a routing loop freakout, but there you go. (this idea isn't really new either but just an adaptation of stuff you could do on Mackie and other mixers as far back as the 70s)
Love to see this! I love my sc6000ms but am looking to upgrade from the xc1850. The A9 seems great but I think I’ll have more fun long term with this workflow
Hey man i am trying to mix with stems in traktor , i know this is off topic but i am willing to pay you if you got the software. I am a windows user and i believe to export custom stems with stem creator you have to use a mac so i just want to know if the stem creator works at all with windows or just have to switch to mac in order for them to work
@@TheDJLab 🥲 i’m struggling on making a decision. V10 or model1 …i really love the analogic idea and the sculpting + the filters…i also see the power of V10 with 4band EQ and all the effects plus audio interface. Still reading all i can about both, but i feel like Model1 has a soul inside ☺️
@@TheDJLab yeah saw your other video after I posted the previous message. Anyway, can't you just pro link the djs1000 to the v10? But then the sc6km would still not be linked to the v10. I've had to manual tap some tracks when it doesn't match on the mixer which is kind of a nuisance. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?
I’ve got an sp404 hooked up with some other midi devices in the chain. Using the v10 as clock source. What happens is the sampler is set to external clock and gets the tempo from the v10 and plays it back via return into another channel. The V10 and the sp404 get into a feedback loop and the auto bpm will speed up on the v10 then the tempo increase on the sp404, then on the v10 and so on. The best I could do was to tap in the bpm on the v10 and not rely on autobpm. This is the one thing I wish I could change on the v10, more precision on the bpm display (128.00) and ability to type it in as well as tap it. To OPs comment I don’t think it’s expected that the V10 would take an external midi clock source.
@@BungHoleCamper A9 is based on some of the technology of the V10. There are vital featurs the A9 doesn't have that make the V10 a superior mixer in sound supremacy: compressors per channel, send features via effect processors, specialized LPF & HPF, send effects, and 4-band EQ. The V10 has an incredible advantage in production.
The crossfader is great for scratching and sending fx to another channel would be great for a hip hop dj. Hip Hop DJs are typically last to embrace new technology.
i would go even further and say the v10 is one of the first mixers "built for DJing" versus most dj mixers made since the late 70s which are just simplified mixing boards with a crossfader (obviously there are exceptions).
No way this sums better Than the big boy boutique analog mixers do not try to convince your self it sounds great by cracking up the compressor and tell me it blends like this rather Than like that. Each track is compressed at the per channel stage not that its not bad already its digital media now you compress the hell out of it and run it thru a complete digital mixer. Then tell me its good sound. If that mixer sounds good then how does the orbit 6 sound? Let alone the condesa, ARS 9100b,Mastersounds V4 mk2, old school bozak and urei 1620! Dude stop.
