Pioneer LaserActive - Fourth VideoGame Generation Recap - Adam Koralik 

I find learning about these obscure consoles incredibly interesting.

Believe it or not, I actually have one of these. My dad got it solely for the LaserDisc player.

I really enjoy these generation recaps. They're so informative and the passion you put into each video makes them always enjoyable to watch. It would be great to hear your opinions on the third gen.

I like the series. I enjoy the history behind the consoles. I like that you don't short cut the information and do your homework. Please keep them coming.

I highly recommend you replace your capacitors Even if you think they are good they probably aren't Laser active is notorious for pac failure because of cap leakage

Really loved this series. Even when I didn't know about a console's existence, the video of it really, really appealed to me. It's really cool to see that the lesser known consoles also have great stories that should be told.

If you have the time I would love to see more recaps. They are fun to watch and some times I learn something new, like this video.

I had this back in the day too. If I remember correctly it was about twice the price of the Neo Geo like maybe $1200 plus the costs of expansions. I mostly watched movies but also sometimes Sega CD or Turbo CD games

I say keep making more of these recap videos. I enjoy them and since you got this far, might as well do generations 1-3.

Awesome info Adam, I knew about the system itself and its add-on's but I had no idea that it actually had a library of its OWN games, that's super interesting. Thanks! Yes Adam. As a 43 year old gamer, I've witnessed almost it all. Even then I find your videos informative!!! You are right on as fars as common VG history. Some of the obscure systems I have learned a lot from you. please do all generations, you will find some very interesting history on the early generations, as interesting as the MD/SF fourth generation. Thank you for your videos, I just completed your fourth generation, now onto the fifth!!!!

Ive been power watching all of your different generation lists and they're really nice, I learned a few new things and was reminded about sone great memories. I've played every gen of games, from a shitty 9 in 1 pong system that had sinlge/double pong and a light gun you usec to shoot squares on your screen to the ps4 now and your videos remind me of things I had and ones that I missed out on. Id love to see you do a 3rd gen list and maybe a 1st and 2nd list combined to cap of the whole gaming history. Thanks again and take care.

The LaserActive seems to me like a product to cater to the video/entertainment system-philes of the early 90s and get them playing games. I imagine they were and still are insanely expensive to have and certainly collect for.

Dude, I love your content. Your channel is going to wind up really big. Lazerdisks were so "classic." I remember being excited when our school library got one for showing educational videos.

Just learned one more piece of gaming console history, thank you. Back in the day it was something amazing to play Mega Drive or PC Engine Cartridges on this thing I guess.

Laserdisc was only composite video. However, unlike most composite outputs, it is native composite and not modulated internally. The Laserdisc format was recorded in composite and if players had S-Video or component, it would read the disc then demodulate the video and output in another format.

Please do the third generation I love all of your videos and want to see you cover all the generations :)

Love these vids, especially on the more esoteric stuff. I'd never even heard of the Laseractive before. You're not wrong about the prices either - there's a PC Engine one on eBay at the moment for $650...

Cool review dude I remember my boss/friend getting Jurassic park and his sons saying that he'd left it on pause we all made him forget about it for 48 hours and the laser burnt hole in the disc. He paid £289 to import it. He was not happy. This bring's back great memory's love review you rock dude.

Adam, I think the thing that makes the CD-I and the Pioneer Interactive....is that home PCs were happening and the CD-Is were able to bring Encyclopedias to life and be interactive and educational things.

That console is just so freaking massive! You could beat several people to death with this and probably not scuff the paint. Funny enough, my roommate who is a laser disc collector has one of these in his collection.

Please make one for the third generation! I like these series.

I remember that thing, when it was introduced in the shops. It might be huge, but it fitted nicely in the stereo-rack, as the amplifiers of the day were huge and heavy (and still is). They played a movie on a laserdisc in our shop (it might have been Terminator 2, but I'm not sure), and it really blowed me away - it might have a bad video-output, but it still was better then most vhs-players. But the price... oh, the price! It did cost more, than I could make in two months. It wasn't sold as a video-console, but only on emphasis as a video-player.

supposedly laserdiscs were encoded using composite so thats why the outputs were mainly composite and used a TVs comb filter to clean up the final image. Some laserdisc players had s-video but this involved needing an internal filter which some say weren't as good as the ones built into TVs. Probably more info than necessary.

I was just looking around You Tube when I came across this and the CDI videos. My husband and I still have both units. We got them both new and we have no children so they are still in working condition.
