Adding an optical out to this Pioneer processor to make it more compatible with modern receivers. These processors are versatile in their use but this one is mainly used for playing back laserdisc audio.
Normally, the SP-99D comes with 6-channel analog out. It's fine if your receiver can handle this but sadly this feature is not put on today's receivers. There is also sometimes an audio delay when using the 6-channel analog output and the video signal going to the TV. This mod fixes that!
This processor can handle AC-3 and digital audio from laserdisc players that have the correct plugs.
