Hi guys. Could someone help me. I have problems with my Pioneer XDJ RX2. When I hang up, songs are no longer visible in my playlist or can no longer be found. then I had to unplug my USB stick or hard drive and then put it back in. Then the songs reappear. What could be the problem please?
After using the XDJ-RX for two years I upgraded to the XDJ-RX2 after buying it I had less then 4 hours to jump right into it, I had not one single problem figuring it out other then a couple knobs being in different places I can say 100% the RX2 is nails it took my live show skills to the next level what an improvement if you have any doubts don't I'm super cautious about what I buy and really take my time watching reviews and videos on its functions I've been a club Dj since 1986 and I can say Pioneer great job.
Bill Patterson you can but you won't get the sound waves cue points and few more options its a huge difference when you analyze your music it really brings everything to life on your controller
Good video and review, I pick mine up tomorrow so super stoked. The only issues I have with it is the lack of 4 fader channels on the mixer when adding auxiliary decks and the removal of the LAN port. I do not like that they have gone to USB as it is a very unstable data source connection and I'm sure anyone who has used USB controllers and Serato/Traktor boxes will have seen or experienced issues in this area. One other thing I don't like is the headphone jack for monitoring, it is placed at the front of the console rather than on the top like all club industry mixers which causes issues for DJs that are used to this and support a right-angled jack on their headphones. Oh for anyone who is wondering, here in Australia our price for these are going for $2,349.00. :(
@@pajtimdj Thank you for your response, I can't wait for mine to come. I'm reading that some people are using Rekordbox on a laptop but I don't want all that bother because all in one means exactly what it says, I want to be able to practice my mixing with and without the sync button and save money.
SZ2 is on top of the list. i cant compare it with RX. SZ is a beast with 4 channels and double sound cards. and more importantly its compatible on all software platforms. RX independence is only for rekordbox audio. for video youll require a laptop. SZ and SX are the best releases
not forgetting the fact that SZ2 is DVS ready. yuo can connect your Vinyl and operate on four channels instantly. you can connect your 2 CDJs and operate on four channels instantly. I dont think there is any ther better deal than that.
The rx2 screen will indicate which tracks can be mixed in key. You will notice a green icon replacing the bpm icon next to the actually bpm value when browsing
Thanks man. I love how this looks, I was a fan of the old one but never bought it cause it was lacking in most things i use. but this one has about 80 percent of the stuff i was missing so a good update for Pioneer
Simon Snoeck , I was missing instant doubles button , four more playing pads . Better interface screen (hopefully touch) search feature , more laptop features to map, better crossfader , aux input with filter option. Jog wheels profomance similar to the Roland controller , echo out to mid range only option , can't remember the rest
So basically Pioneer have looked at the Denon MCX-8000 taken some of the features but not the most important ones! The Denon has 4 channels, uses the engine software (the same as SC5000), has 8 multi coloured pads per channel, doesn't have a touch screen but has a touch strip for searching through the track and does have a screen for each channel. Denon released the MCX-8000 18 months earlier than the RX2! Only thing I don't really like about the Denon controller range is they mirror the setup of the two channels to make it look pretty! Its annoying that the pitch is on the right on the right hand channel and on the left on the left hand channel. Hopefully the next Denon stand alone controller will ditch the mirroring layout, I would then change over to Denon as they would match any club set up irrelevant of brand and would be amazing at home. Definitely worth looking at the Denon if you are in the market for a £1000+ controller. Crossfader could you do a comparison?
I thought Dennon will have an update and go to engine prime. .Is it still pitfall of the MXC 800? Engine software. I tried Engine software. Baaad . veery very Baad. Thats why I Bought the Rx instead the mcx 8000. Does anyone Knows certainly if the MCX 8000 yet can use Engine Prime. I think is way better then the rx2. pointing the 4 channel mixer.
I thought they were updating that?! I can't get used to the mirror layout anyway. I currently use an Pioneer XDJ R1 and a novation twitch. The point I was making was feature wise the RX2 hasn't moved on any further than the Denon MCX8000 that was released 18 months before. It could of done more to cement the controller crown that the RX1 claimed.
Great video, personally I won't be buying one due to the lack of channels. I was hoping for a 3-4 channel priced between 2-3000. guess I'll just have to wait another 2-3 years for an update or hopefully Denon releases something interesting in January.
Hey Jamie here is my question : I don't understand why you guys are never talking about the ddj rzx . It's exactly the 4 Channel mixer and so much more that you guys seem to wait for, but it's already on the market for about 3 years now. So what's the deal with that ?
I'd argue the sheer price of the RZX puts it into no mans land. It's not a stand alone unit so requires a high end laptop to run it, especially if you are doing Video DJ'ing and its already £2000 without the cost of the laptop! The DDJ 1000 is a better option at half the price, the Denon Prime 4 is a way better option and needs no laptop and costs £600 less! The DDJ RZX was a massive flop sadly because it isn't at all portable, costs way too much and apart from the screens, doesn't offer much over the much cheaper DDJ-RZ / DDJ 1000!
Oh hell I think I was very wrong then ? Thank you so much ! I was about to buy it thinking it was exactly like the rx2 with just 4 channels and 3 screens ...
Great video. I`ve bought one.. just waiting for it to arrive in Norway. I really love this controller. I`ve got the RX now, and it`s just fab. The one thing I`m a bit angry about is that Pioneer DJ removed the gate/comp effect. What `stupid` developer did that? That`s probably the effect I really use all the time. And it might be a reason to not keep the new RX2.
Now I hoped XDJ-700 mk2 with advanced search options and touch screen... "Matching" function is a killer feature for freestyle DJing, but unfortunately it's not on the lower priced units yet. Fuck it!
I was looking to upgrade from my current Numark NVII's but I don't like that these don't have a slicer function (unless I've missed it) but it's a choice between these and the Dennon Prime 2's
If money was no object, would you consider the Rx2 over the NXS2 separates. Might sound a daft question, but it looks like these all in one units are becoming similar to the club gear or are they still more for bedroom dj's??
Hi Jamie, if you had a choice of buying the Rx2 and the Nxs2 system, which would you go for? I know there is a huge difference in price, but would like to know your thoughts.
It really is no good at all being 2 channels... Particularly if you want to do fast paced, layered Drum & Bass mixes with double drops etc. which is what I do. And it would also be no good even if it was 2 faders with deck select, it needs to be a full 4 channel with 4 individual faders. If that was the case I would pick one up tomorrow, but it looks like I'm gonna have to look at a DDJ-SX3 instead and just use Serato on Library mode so as not to be a "Laptop DJ"...
would you recommend doing your rekordbox beginner tutorial on this pioneer xdj rx2? my friend has a cheap one she could sell me but i'm keen to do your rekordbox tutorials. would the features be very different to using a ddj or would it just be using the xdj screen rather than laptop? didn't want to overcomplicate it at the beginning! cheers
What's out there that could do USB or computer and 4 channels for adding CDJ's or turntables without breaking the bank! Thank you kindly and appreciate your videos!!
It looks nice, but really... A four channel version would have sealed the deal. I never "believed" they would, rather I highly suggested they do. You can only charge 10k for 4 layers of CD players and a mixer for so long before other things seem more reasonable.
Jaime, thanks for the review. I really liked using this unit that my friends own, but FLAC limitation's pretty daunting considering that my library is predominantly...FLAC. Trying to use Performance Mode as a workaround since I can pull files from Rekordbox without hardware limitation. Wondering what the limitations on controlling Rekordbox via Performance Mode would be (compared to using RX2 as a standalone unit)? Heard that the sound color FX can't be selected via RX2 buttons (instead you have to select in Rekordbox if you want to do anything other than "noise"). Is this still the case? Also, if I edit hotcues and memory cues/loops via RX2 hardware buttons in performance mode (for FLAC files that can't run on standalone mode...) would it actually update the original files on my laptop accordingly (vs. pulling files from laptop in "read-only" fashion and not being able to edit them on RX2)? Thanks a ton.
Love it. One short coming I noticed while watching is that you mentioned it has two usb's for when switching DJs. But what if you are recording onto USB 2?
TheHoodiman That’s gonna be bad luck on that one. Unless there is a firmware update coming to allow for this and record while swapping.. maybe using the record box record feature with laptop enabled may work..... I hope you find a way to fix this bro 🙏👍👍👍🤘🏻
Hey Crossfader, been DJing for over a year now (mostly house disco and techno) and as am going to Uni in Bristol in September I want some new decks to hopefully start getting more gigs. So far I have DJed in a local bar and mix nigh on everyday using my Serato Mixtrack Pro 2's. Should I upgrade to a second hand set of DDJ SB2s or a bit more of an investment win myself with these?
I would say go for the investment especially if you’re aiming to play in more bars/clubs/venues at uni. These mirror a club set up pretty well! If you can afford it go for it! Plus you will be able to sell these on for a decent amount too down the road.
maybe we should put the product to the test; and see if it would work with Algorythm Djay; plugged in with the Ipad Pro/Usb...and see if it would be able to read and select tracks that way....
yea I mean the 4 channel thing is debatable they don't want to take away sale from their mixers. but wouldn't a 4 channel mixer give people a reason buy to an extra pair of xdr players if they really wanted to utilize 4 channels?
@crossfader Hey mate! Just got this yesterday and using rekordbox to play the tracks directly from the laptop. I’ve analysed the tracks and set them to show Camelot (numeric) value in rekordbox but when they load into the rx2, they still show the regular western tuning when trying to search by key. What am I missing? Thanks in advance! OS X btw.
I don't think it's worth stepping up from the RX1 to the RX2 if you already own the RX1. My main concern that wasn't mentioned in this video is the quality of the phono pre-amps, because they are terrible in sound quality. That is something that really needs to be changed in the future, in my opinion. I have the RX1 but I'm having to use a separate amp to power my Technics 1210. Maybe that issue has been fixed in the RX2? The hardware isn't as good as the nexus equipment in general, but I guess that's the price you pay for. The RX players are still very good for what they are, and for using them in a bedroom/studio setup!
@@DJHotDocs There are no ports for USB sicks, only two USB B ports and no SD card reader. If you make a video of you using your DDJ RXZ without a PC or Laptop playing files off just a USB stick or SD card then I'll give you the money you spent to buy it. There are no 4 channel STAND ALONE controllers from Pioneer DJ. Only dennon recently released the first stand alone 4 channel controller.
@@tigersharkzh I think you are right and I was terribly wrong. I didnt try that thing stand alone so far but was simply assuming it could do that. what a pitty....
The xdj-r1 freezes up (not to be confused with the xdj-rx1) and I have to power off and back on. There are tons of negative reviews online for the same issue on that controller. I'm skeptical about getting another pioneer controller. Have you had any issues with the RX2?
Does this NEED a laptop in order to work properly / most optimally? I hate dragging a laptop around, as it looks amateur these days. I've used Traktor for so many years, but RekordBox seems great. Is it possible to setup the library before hand, and import those settings / library to the RX2 without needing to have a laptop while you're playing?
Yep thats exactly what it's been designed to do. You won't need to take your laptop with you as this is an all in one stand alone unit. You just prepare music on your laptop and export it to a USB drive which then plugs into the XDJ RX2.
+Alan Keith Entertainment it will work with VDJ however I don't think they have released a mapping for it yet so you would be left to try and map it yourself for now. I'm sure it won't be long as the original XDJ RX is supported.
great video, thank you... Please can someone let me know if when you play a track form the USB stick, if it stops after the track is finished or if it automatically plays the next track? Thanks!
+Pink Panta as far as we're aware it won't but this isn't something we have tested personally. It's intended more to be used as a standalone set up rather than a controller.
How can the performance mode be corrected as you have mentioned that in performance mode the beat loop mode is pad FX. And in standalone mode when used with pen drives it works accurately. I have tried re mapping the beat loop in the software but it's not working. Is there a xdj rx2 midi map file that can be directly imported and the issue is resolved. Kindly help to rectify this issue. Currently running firmware 1.34 on xdj rx2
Hi Crossfader, I’ve just purchased this controller and it’s fantastic. I don’t however know how to turn on the flashing jog wheel when the song is coming to an end? Anyone know how to do this? I see the bottom line on the touchscreen under the wave pattern starts to flash but can’t see how the jog wheel flashes on the middle?
I have a problem and was hoping you could please help me. I recently watched your video about PIONEER XDJ-RX2. I went out and bought one, but can't get the touch screen and keyboard (track search to work). What should I do??
Why always these 4 channel mixers ? 2 channel is fine for almost every party ;-) Anyway, its' a high level and extreme reliable tool that I take everywhere from bars to clubs to private parties. My XDJ RX is up for sale with a Pro DJ flight case and original box for 1100€
Does anyone know if the waveform is improved compared to the xdjrx? I was waiting for a firmware upgrade on the xdjrx as the waveform is just one colour and I would buy this if this more inline with reckordbox waveform Thanks
