Hate the production. Modern day videos are needed because most of the music is crummy and lacking great melodic content. Thus, you sell it for the visual interest. The music in great opera is so beautiful that such visually changing sceneries are simply a distraction from the gorgeous music.

Why in the world is he shown searching for someone in a huge warehouse or subway station, when this is an aria in which he sings directly to Carmen's face and ends up declaring his love for her? Moreover, the very notion that they could get someone to buy a collection of French opera arias by showing music videos in the background is a disgrace and mockery of the gorgeous music by Bizet that Beczala is singing. How could anyone enjoy the aria - esp. if they actually know what the words are about - while watching this bizarre and distracting video? If you want videos like this, buy a Justin Bieber album.
