April 2024 has seen an increase in PIP of 6.7% in line with inflation.
Ankylosing spondylitis, also known as axial spondyloarthritis, is an inflammatory disease that, over time, can cause some of the bones in the spine, called vertebrae, to fuse. This fusing makes the spine less flexible and can result in a hunched posture. If ribs are affected, it can be difficult to breathe deeply.

Hi. I get Pip and ESA due to disabilities. But I need the money to buy private care, equipment, medications I cannot get from the NHS, therapies I cannot get from the NHS, paying extra costs on bills like gas and electricity, healthy food, furniture such as a memory foam bed to my sleep, to pay mu mobile hairdresser, decorating costs so I live in a clean safe home, clothes, toiletries, taxi or petrol costs, internet and phone costs, car parking fees, to buy self help health books, food, cleaning products, etc...etc...I don't use my benefits on silly things, such as sky TV illegal drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, holidays, fancy nails, etc. Yet the government will make the general public believe we spend our money on stupid stuff....some ppl on benefits may be scroungers or use their money for silly things, but most ppl are geniune. Don't know about you, but as a geniune disabled person I get fed up of being stigmatised by the government. Most geniune ppl on benefits don't want to be on benefits deep down. But as we know, most ppl need that money in order to lead a normal, independent life.

Excellent comment 👍 Totally agree with everything you've just said. The disabled community as a whole is definitely treated like second -rate citizens, especially at the moment with everything going on. Sad times.

A disability rights campaigner stated that this stupid voucher scheme is degrading to disabled people. Vouchers won't pay for my Chiropractor appointments every month, special diet costs. I'm a Celiac so have to buy gluten free food. It's expensive. 2 or 3 times more then ordinary food. I was given a ongoing award last march on review, with a light touch review in Ten years, My mobility was increased to enhanced, still standard for daily living. This decision was made via a phonecall froma Dwp decision maker, no more assessments either. Let's not forget, it was the Dwp who set the amount for each component of pip. Goverment saying, that we get a lot each month, and trying to stop cash payments. Disabled people with a lot of health issue's can't work, so what are we suppose to live on. It's just a cost cutting exercise. They need to look elsewhere to recoupe, their spending. Not picking on the vulnerable in society.

You're absolutely right - it's a cost cutting exercise. It's going to definitely be a challenge if the scheme goes ahead.

I would rather work all day long then be in condition l am. Being disabled is NOT a choice. I wish those people who see us as benefit sponges or whatever - walk in our shoes for half a day - then make such nasty comments towards those disabled. The media and keyboard warriors who make such comments have no dignity - no feelings. Void.
