Very nicely done. I like the idea of filling the shank with the kosher salt. I've been stuffing a pipe cleaner in there. That works but I can see the salt would be more efficient. God bless
Jimmy Tabaccy, Thanks Jimmy. For those Peterson’s with a reservoir I do want to leach out as much of that old tobacco and tar as I can. It has improved the flavor for sure.
Thanks for the video! I also like how you fill the stem with kosher salt instead of stuffing it with Q-tips and plastic wrap that I saw elsewhere. Question...what brand/model of pocket knife is that in the video? I am looking for a knife for dealing with my pipes, and this looks like a good one due to that flat blade. Thanks!
would rubbing alchol work instead of grain alcohol? decatur makes all sorts of waxs, cleaner, and polish. do you recommend any to maintain the exterior of a pipe? this is a great video. have not seen any on pipe maintenance. love my petersens plips. to me i get more flavor notes, and the tobacco tastes better with a plip. where do i get that reaming tool at
Ken Voorhees, Thanks for stopping by and great questions. The only non-consumable alcohol I use includes alcohol wipes. I use them and rub them down on the stem to kill lingering bacteria. For actually using in your pipe, I would always recommend food grade alcohol. Carnuba wax js great for the pipe. I don’t polish mine as I prefer the rustic used look. Other people are different.
He shows the box in the beginning of the video and it says, "Senior Pipe Reamer". I wondered the same thing and didn't notice the box on my first viewing.
