Pipe Tobacco Review: Dunhill "London Mixture"

Great review, just opened my tin of LM today and I loved it. Felt like the tin was screaming great quality and pleasure at me. The presentation, smell, look, and feel of the tobacco was delightful, and very intriguing. The very best tin opening I have experienced, and I have opened over 2 dozen different tins. I may have found a real favorite with this, but will know for sure when I smoke a few bowls. I do like SMM so I should be in for a real treat. This is only the 2nd balkan blend I have, and smoke mainly VA, VaPers; other balkan I have tried is FMOTB (which I liked) and look forward to smoking more of. With so many blends and the hot weather it's just easier to reach for Old Gowrie and Hal 'O The Wynd (lately my go to blends) in my Peterson makes the summer evenings wonderful. Cheers.

Great video as always. After watching I realized that I hadn't smoked London Mixture in a while, so I smoked a bowl tonight. I think I now realize that the "crushed walnuts" taste you described is possibly why I don't smoke LM that often! While I don't dislike the blend, I could use a little less of that particular taste for my liking. Love Turkish and orientals, so am looking forward to trying Durbar. Also looking forward to your take on Squadron Leader which I enjoy quite a bit! Cheers!

Wow this is good stuff! At times I get a taste like bitter praline or burnt toffee, something like that. Plus some great spiciness, particularly early in the bowl. And it burns down to almost nothing.

Wonderful review as is typical of you. I would love to see a review of Dunhill flake in the future if you want to stick with your theme of Dunhill. But lovely videos, I thoroughly enjoy them

London mixture is my hands down favorite every day smoke. I do als love what you would call desert blends but London mix is the best ever

This was good! I was so disappointed in EMP and NC. Of course from Dunhill they was excellent tobacco just not to my palate. I so wanted to like these blends I hear so much about but come to find out London mixture is the Dunhill English(type) for me. I still have a tin of Aperiif after I finish London Mixture to try. The thing I love the most about this hobby is how wide the range of taste is and why they have such an overwhelmingly variety of brands and types. I did not start explore from my 3 tin rotation.

I have a long-stem Dunhill Ruby Bark estate pipe arriving tomorrow - very exciting. I also happen to have a tin of London mixture - also very exciting! Hopefully they'll be a marriage made in heaven. Totally off-topic, but do you like to match your tasty beverages to your tobaccos? I know you're a Dr Pepper fan. I smoke cigars and love to mate these with either coffee or alcohol (whisky and Calvados being my favourites), but for some reason my favourite accompaniment to a pipe is a cup of strong Assam tea. Food (or rather drink) for thought? I'd love to hear your views.

Bradley, I am new to pipe smoking and have tried both the standard mixture and the London mixture but I like the standard much more; but can't pinpoint what is it that I like about it more than the London mixture. I guess there is more tang and spice in the standard. I also didn't like the Elizabethan since it is too cigaretty for my taste. Having said that, what other dunhill flavor do you recommend that builds on the spiciness of the standard mixture?

I find most Dunhill give tongue bite even if smoked slowly . 4noggins prices overall are lower.

+Jason Taylor - Yes, it was a bit dim wasn't it? I even tried to brighten it up a bit during editing. Evening recording is always on the dark side. My lighting setup isn't good enough to work well without some help from natural light.
