Jake, Way to take it like a man! You owned it, every body has respect for you because of it. Get that bed built, take a week off, spend it with the family. If you get in a bind or tight spot, come to ND. I’ll put you to work the next day. You have been like a brother to me the last 6 months. If you need help, then don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll always help you with whatever you need! Derek
Alex Breitenbach exactly and he could have left this bad bit out but it happens to the best and there's no shame, his positivity is on point and he puts it in a great way. But in a sentence he's saying get over it, learn from it and move on from it.... Great life lessons!!!
that's welder life man. it sucks when we get a bad xray. I had 4 on one job after 2 years of no bad. it sucked got ran off wasnt moneyed up because it was a short term job. glad to see your still making new stuff.
Hey bro we love ya . Thanks for everything you do . We are all welders and are in this together . You explained everything like a man and you didn’t have too . We have Been all down this road with repairs . Lots of respect and keep thinking positive!! Your the man . Hook up a Canadian boy with some yankee work !! lol
Looking forward to seeing the bed build videos. I look forward to your videos every week. I even look every day to see if you’ve posted a random video. Love what you do it has inspired me to get rigged up myself and practice. I’ve been practicing for months now and place to step out there and get my feet wet. Keep up the good work you and your family will always be blessed.
That's why I love being a welder because I always know I can just pack up , drag up , move up or move on and not stress because not everyone can do what we do thank goodness if it was easy everyone would be doing it I guess ... and we are always needed ..but our money has to be in order first to do anything in life unfortunately ... it takes a certain kinda person to be a welder as a sit here looking at all these burns all over my arms from the week .. thanks Mr Schofield for your time ! I'm so excited to see your new adventure !
,I have a lot of respect for you, seen all your videos , but this one talks more about you , honest man who is responsible for his own actions. God bless you brother , and keep up the videos.their good advise and good teaching.👍
You're a huge inspiration man. Get knocked down and keep on pushing. Safe travels to your next place and congratulations on your little one. I can't wait to see your bed build and your next step!
Brother this video was wind in my sails. Im a fitter/plumber...really I do both. The plumbing side I do hydronics and mechanical rooms. Well anyways I just got my money about two weeks ago and I was installing a mile a minute. I spent my first 2 months fixing other guys work that stayed on. I have been bitter. I chalk it up to my GF not liking me. Praise the Lord be blessed and thanks for the encouragement
Good luck Jake. Enjoy the unexpected time off, you had a pretty good run where you have been. There is plenty of work out there; I know of two pipelines in this area. Live and learn!
Well said brother, every welders going to have them. U do great things on your videos. Great insight what the road life is about and how to manage and conquer it.
Good positive attitude. I busted 3 straps on my last test. Some guys blame the machine, but I always fault myself first. It's hard to do that, but man you took it the right way on your repairs. Your attitude makes me want to follow you even more. Really humble
Sounds like you have a lot of friends out there already setting up opportunities for you that says a lot about your credibility and respect among others. Good luck and God bless.
I always click across your videos in my suggested because I'm currently interested in all kinds of welding. Mainly fabrication, etc. Anyway, I never subscribed because the pipeline didn't interest me at all, probably won't ever...but your motivation is VERY moving. I needed to hear this video. Keep up the good work, man. You've got a new sub.
It happens to everybody but I think reputation has a big impact in all of this !reputation will get you the next job because everybody knows you are more than capable of doing it. Keep on keeping on brotha
Love watching ur videos and hearing someone being positive about everything..ur speaking a lot of good words..very excited ur building a new bed can’t wait to watch them..
Hang in there. Great video and message. It's not easy to share when things don't go well sometimes. Good luck. Come to west Texas. Plenty of work out here!
Sorry to hear it Jake! We all know you are quality just by the way you carry yourself and run your life/business. Onto bigger and better things dude! Better luck on the next one
That shit can be FRUSTRATING. I was burning great then got to overhead and was stuck for damn near a week. Dont get discouraged keep on burning them rods
I remember working out of the boilermaker union #263 out of Memphis in 1978 when two of the best tube welders in the union[and there were some good ones]went to Pascagoula Miss traveling out of the district because times were hard and busted out on their test. They were broke and had to wash dishes to get gas money to get home.Never know what may happen.
I can relate to how you must feel. Unfortunately we work ourselves out of a job. I have made it through 5 or 6 layoffs before my time came. Then we just cowboy up and go to the next one. Money-up when you can because the saga continues. I really don't see you having a problem on getting the next gig.
Jake, are you ok, man? You are a good welder, and you know your stuff. I'm sure you are going to be ok. I love the way you are looking it right in the eye. I'm sure we'll see improvement as you move forward.
I drug on that guy last week cause he kept cutting money on me. I came back home and did some local jobs and worked on my house a little. Today I went out driving around and hustled up a good mess of projects for people making shades over porches and some gates for canals to direct water. Sometimes things happen and it gives you a chance to handle stuff at home and it's humbling but ALWAYS A DOOR OPENS WHEN ONE CLOSES. Sometimes just a chance to be with your wife and son is good enough reason to have some vacation time. Don't beat yourself up over it. I just hustled up some jobs that'll give me some day money and make more contacts. Bless God
Good for you buddy 👍! I was wondering how your situation was going because to me it sounded like he was taking advantage of you. On to better things for you!
Man sorry this happened good thing you were prepared for situations like this, makes me realize that i also need to be prepared like you are. Also I know of a couple of places here in west Texas that are looking wot welders and there’s plenty of work
Love that attitude torwards this I just got in the same boat but man I needed to hear that thank you so much for the videos I know personally they help me along the way thanks for what you do brother be blessed yall
Hey man. First off, big fan, first time commenting, I’m a subscriber, and follower. Love what you’re doin with the channel, awesome influence. I to am a welder and watching your vids helps my outlook on my personal future in the business and helping in the direction I want to go which is a pipeline chaser as a welder. Sorry to hear about the lay off. PUMPED to see you film this next bed. Loved the first one you made on the Chevy, I’m about to buy an ‘18 ram 3500 myself so I’m sure if you make this bed as cool as the last one you make, without copyright infringements, I’m sure mine will be mocked after yours! Keep it up brother! Good luck. Hope to see you out there on the row sometime!
Kurt I would love to see this bed on your truck!! I building a complete blue print with measurments for this perticular bed. Its going to be a little different then the last because I run asingle cab now and Ive always hated tools and things in my cab
Jake you know the walk you did your best and it is what it is you got a great head on your shoulders GOD watches over you god has lined something elsre up for you enjoy the Family especily the little one there only little once God will take care of YOU AND THE FAMILY !
You mentioned the welder life style. And I'm about tired of it. I been a full blown pipe welder for over 12 years and can't find a job. I been out of work since before Thanksgiving. I've called all my contacts, called a number of companies, done a bunch of applications with no luck. It's been the same story since 2015. I'll land a job work for 8 or 9 months and be layed off for 2-3 months. I have a very good track record, a well known reputation of being a very good welder for a bunch of companies and for nothing. It dont matter how good you are most companies forget you once the job is done but never consider the people that made it possible for the next job. Its frustrating and stressful. So my faith is in Lord and he will provide. I believe he gives us some hard times so that we may appreciate the good ones. Be Blessed... and I'll be praying for you.
701-690-3091 Come to North Dakota and I’ll put you to work if your willing to do it. It’s not welding, but it’s a job, Heating Frac Water. Pay is great. 10k per month take home. Derek Wendt
Derek Wendt is that your contact number? I graduate welding school in May. I’ll heat frac water lol. It may not be welding but it’s paying sounds like.
Justin Heltzel Justin That is my number and we are hiring. 1-701-690-3091 If I don’t answer it’s because I’m out on a rig at a well Pad. Leave a message or text me and I’ll get right back. Thanks
when in doubt grind it out when welding . new xray hands can get you to .Always preferred a senior over a junior xray tech . No matter what, they get the last say . Always ask the xray hand to see the film to see where the repair is to fix . Never argue the call unless it is cut out and looking you in the face or you can read film . The film can be audited by another xray tech 5 repairs in 2 years and gone ? 4 in a row doesn't usually happen something is not right . It only usually happens in the bead . Bad tacks? I've been caught on that . since ,always tried to look inside and run through tacks . It could be politics . I found over the 45 years I welded there usually was a divorce around the 2 year mark . they are sick of you or you are sick of them . Because you only have your reputation in this business one best look after it . If somethings wrong make it right . It is hard to take a kick in the nuts like this . News about stuff like this gets around fast . Talk about bad rod I found that has happened to. Hobart 6010 rod for beads .bad batch, flux was not uniform around the rod and there was an excess amount . It caused LF lack of fusion . and it is easy to see on the film just like LP or IP . sorry to hear about this . don't let it play on your mind ,and don't start second guessing your self . onward and forward .
@Jim Alley yeah experience teaches us some expensive lessons some times . too soon old too late smart . yeah my first job on 3" .109 wall pipe was an experience and I fresh out of welding school thought I was one of the best welders going . WRONG . they even tried me out on beads . hahaha that's when I thought I was building high rise buildings for all the windows going in from top to bottom . And that was with good rod . Yeah that was a short job for me . This business is not easy and you better bring your A game all the time . there is no dog here eating your home work . Although I had a Raven steal my lunch , bag and all
This kind of situation can arise for any self employed or small company. Those that fail are the ones that don't get back up or their head goes. Those the push on through the hard times and endure all that goes win! Like the man said, it isn't easy.
Despite all of the downsides, I love welding with my everlast welders and still hope to be able to make some money on the side welding repairs and such. Maybe someday I'll weld full time for a living.
Man I went 2 years with no repairs and caught 4 the other day all for the same thing. It happens sometimes to everybody. All you do is move on and learn from it.
