皇家蘇格蘭重裝甲衛隊風笛隊最早源於一支小小的風笛隊，一九四六年由蘇格蘭陸軍一些裝甲部隊復員軍人組成，樂手們是灰騎兵部隊第一批正規的風笛手。今天，樂隊被視為英軍最佳風笛隊。隊員不僅是樂師，還是挑戰者二型主力坦克部隊正規成員，要隨衛隊轉戰各地。他們既能應付嚴格的軍事訓練，亦能長期保持一流樂手水準。

The British Army's Top Pipes and Drums
The Pipes and Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards owe their existence to the small pipe band which came to the Royal Scots Greys in 1946. This was a result of demobilisation from various Scottish Territorial Armoured Corps units and these became the Scots Grey's first official Pipers. Today the Band is regarded as the British Army's top Pipes and Drums. The Pipes and Drums are not just musicians, they are fully trained Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank Crewmen who deploy on operations alongside their regimental counterparts. They are flexible individuals who are able to both hone their skills on Challenger 2 Main Battle Tanks whilst maintaining their personal standards as top class Pipers and Drummers.
