Just, another interesting informative video, very useful at the time of accomplishing real size upholstery projects.
As I mentioned, it is very important to have good foundations to understand and learn upholstery in an easy way
I hope you enjoy this video!

Another great video! Thanks! And a request - when you feel like it, make a video about how you make a cutout for the leather steering wheel cover. Jsut a norvak wheel, not that blue thingy. Thanks again!

Love your wonderful work. What size welt and welt foot do you mainly use? 5/32 welt and 6mm welt foot? How do you keep from seeing the thread after you make welt cord? Is there a trick to this? Also, do you change your thread color to match the vinyl color every time?Thank you again!

Nice tips Caesar, as usual! I sew my piping together at a 45 degree angle and trim excess material from back so that when it's folded the seam is less noticeable, but your way makes it virtually invisible! I would never have thought about skiving vinyl like I do leather! You're always full of surprises. How are your steering wheel tutorials coming? Did you ever perfect your steering wheel holding jig? I know you had made some changes. I thought you may be going to sell it. If manufacturing is a problem, maybe you could just sell the plans...just a thought. Glad you're doing videos again. I always enjoy seeing your craftsmanship!

hdflame Hi Bobby, what a nice surprise to hear from you!!! ...Thanks for kind remarks!!! I have started a series of 'basic upholstery videos' on youtube, very important to understan d and, easily carry out 'real size upholstey projects' in a very near future. All of these videos will be free on youtube...I wanted to sell them, but, not at all, so... I have quite a lot of material. I only would have for sale, some complex designs. Regarding the steering wheel tutorials, I already have the methods to easily wrap a wheel, even without being an upholsterer. Regards, Cesar

Cechaflo I always enjoy watching your videos. I always pick up some little trick that you do that makes my upholstery work easier or better! Have you made a video on actually making a pattern of the steering wheel? Just curious if you had a trick on patterning that you could share. As always, keep making your great videos. You are a true artist, my friend! Thanks, Bobby

hdflame Hi Bobby, Thanks again for your kind remarks! ...There are still more tips to share. In regard to, steering-whels, as a matter of fact,yes!...it is possible to get templates if we follow certain 'tricks', taking into account that the stretching of leather behaves different than vinyl. Vinyl stretches gradually and uniform; leather of course has its streching side, but it is irregular, because some parts are stiffer. Check these video clips: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eisCbf7SMAQ.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VTY6uWmRUzY.html I will post a related video pretty soon that teaches an easy and fast way to leather wrap a wheel, even, without being or having knowledge as an upholsterer...I will use a basic method that would take us to patterning procedures.

Hi, thanks for the videos are very good, I like to know what kind of utilisa glue and type of applicator used. thanks
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 9 лет назад
Doug Reyes Thanks for watching my videos! I use a yellow glue most of the upholsterers, shoemakers and leather artisans use...it's a kind of solvent/neoprene glue which comes in cans or glass bottles. I apply it by using a brush or a spatula. www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-32-fl-oz-Weldwood-Original-Contact-Cement-00272/100125525 www.tandyleather.com/en-usd/home/department/leather-cement-glue/2525-360.aspx www.google.com.mx/search?q=yellow+contact+cement&espv=2&biw=1093&bih=514&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=evKdVePuA5KnyAS9-LrYBg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

Hi Cesar. For car seats should the piping (welting chord) be hard plastic type? Or Foam type? Thank you /John

Hello John, In car upholstery is advisable for welting/piping a solid plastic piping.

Mr. Cechaflo what kind of glue are you using in your videos? please.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 9 лет назад
Denise Thuman Thanks for watching my video! ...the glue is a 'yellowish glue' most of the upholsterers, shoemakers and leather artisans use...it sticks hard and is flexible...the standard glue for wood is white and stiff...although, a yellow glue is applied to stick formica...it comes in cans or bottles and is applied with a brush or spatula.
