Thanks for this tutorial. I’m going to practice and then give it a try. No sewing for awhile I got it all packed up to return home to Virginia on Monday. It will take me a couple days to recover from the drive home.

Surprised you prefer pins. I prefer clips, faster to add and remove. But I see you can sew closer to pin position with pins.

I go back and forth on pins versus clips depending on the project.

I just happened onto your channel and saw one about online classes for fitting and had mentioned having another class in the spring. So, this now being spring, how can I find out about these classes? Thank you.

I once learned from a clothing designer that the number one thing is to break up an overall print. I see lots of home sewers on blogs making this mistake. As a result, their clothing looks homemade. Breaking up the print with piping works, as does a belt or other trim piece. Well done!

I did! I sewed right where the piping and the pocket attached.

Hi Whitney, I’m excited for class again. If you remember, I was traveling at the time and I really didn’t get a chance to sit down and do this. April 8 is my birthday, and I am looking forward to getting very organized for my sewing and I’m looking forward to this class do I need to pay for anything? Is it too late to put my name in? I look forward to this clasd

Hi Jessie--Since you purchased the class in a previous offering, you have access to the materials any time you'd like to start! This current offering is for new students to gain the same course offerings you already have. I'm excited for you to dig in. All the information is in your library!

My mum used to do beautiful piping on upholstery, soft furnishings and clothes, but I've never plucked up the courage to try it. Thanks to this tutorial, I'm going to have a go. I need some new aprons, so I can practice on those.

Did you know there are upholsters who can insert bias strips using just one line of stitching and sew all layers at once? The bias is folded over the cording & inserted bw top & bottom layer & just sewn with the cording foot. I’m absolutely astounded that they can easily do that! I’m determined to master this skill.

Never thought to iron the top seam open before sewing the sides of the pocket - such a small trick to make a perfect pocket. Thanks!

What a game changer that piping foot is! I always tried to do it with just the zipper foot. It never came out nice.

Could I use yarn instead of cord for the inside of the piping?
@TomKatStitchery
@TomKatStitchery 6 месяцев назад
I guess you could if the yarn is dense and holds shape
