Your dress is stunning on you Whitney! Did you know that you can purchase fabric directly from Ellie Whittaker here in Australia and she ships internationally? 😊
Bateau is the French word for boat so a Bateau neckline is the same thing as a boat neckline. I think it encompasses both a straight across neckline and one with a slight curve
Great makes! I love the Briarwood top you made. It was so nice to see it on you because we are a similar shape. For the brown linen, may I suggest a Marcel dress from Chalk and Notch. I find it so comfortable to wear in the summer.
I love this dress and have it along with two others picked out that I want to make for September. I am struggling with fabric. As a huge Farm Rio fan, I have tried to copy their style since last summer. I never find the fabric I want. your comments on fabric and sources as very important to me. I wear deep rich jewel tones and going into fall I don't want a light background. Yours is perfect. We wear very similar colors. Your were ahead of me as I was going to ask you about this pattern and you gave so much information in this video. I am 5" tall so I was really interested in length. So gorgeous.
I'm so glad that you found it helpful. Some of my very favorite places to buy fabric are over on my website www.tomkatstitchery.com/resources (there may even be a few discount codes!)
The orange dress is fabulous. And I wanted to say that I love the way you talk about your body. So positive and embracing of difference, even in yourself.
Great collection of makes this month, Whitney! Of course my fav is the Seamwork Patterns Sloan! Summer gorgeousness! As a large busted girl myself with broad shoulders I would not have thought I could pull those sleeves off, but, I’m thinking otherwise now as I see it on you! When I started watching this episode, I thought you could’ve stopped at the intro because you look so fabulous in your “tiger-lily orange” Love Notions Tidal Dress! Sensational look! Anxiously looking forward to what you’ve got in store for us for new pattern reveals! The brown linen piece(s) you snagged at Destashify is lovely - I love the look of brown in the summer even though as a calm summer it’s not for me. Make another Itch to Stitch Celeste with it, Whitney! I’ve made two this summer, one solid and one floral (the floral one, I made sleeveless with little effort) both in linen and I’ve been reaching for them constantly this summer. I believe you have enough fabric to pull it off! And, as one who spends most of her time in a wheelchair, I can attest to the “sit-ability” of the Celeste for those lovely outdoor concerts at the park!
Totally love your new dress! Please make yourself more and lets see a variety of fabrics and colours that suit you! But obviously only if you have time! It is truly beautiful!
So I checked, because I thought I was correct. The bateau and the boat neck are the same. Bateau is just french for Boat. Love the videos. Love the “Breton” to. Have fun with the new fabrics.
Everything is fantastic. However that orange dress with the flowers is to die for. The thing that messes up my body is low pressures in the atmosphere. Aches , pains, sluggish, just not feeling good. I haven’t lost my sew joe but I have some sewing frustration. I decided today I definitely need to get help fitting pants. I can do it for the front but due to an old injury doing the back is to painful. So I’m taking a few days away from sewing and then I plan to go back to dresses, skirts, and tops.
Gorgeous dress and I love those sleeves! I’d like to put them on a jumpsuit. I really enjoy watching your videos. Full of inspiration! I just scrolled past Sloan, but taking a closer look now that I’ve seen yours.
I want the dress!!! So funny to hear you talk about the Wednesday night concert where we met this week. Such a pleasure to meet someone who loves to sew as much as I do!
Beautiful orange dress. Both orange dresses look great on you. The 2 previewed fabric colours are fantastic for your colorings. BTW, enjoyed you having your colours done. Interesting.❤
Hello fellow Copper Spring! I can’t resist the coral color colors either! They are so beautiful and I fully admit to being out of control when it comes to anything in this color! Love your makes!
Lovely makes as always. The orange dress is a show stopper! Have a look at the Pattern Scout Vivi dress for your chocolate linen - it will be gorgeous :)
That dress! It looks so good on you. Amazingly, it still shows your curves. I think the darts keep it from overwhelming you. Even the sleeves surprisingly aren’t too much. I’m taking notes because I have a similar body type as you. So lovely!
Ooo your seamwork dress looks fab! I made the Briarwood and first did shirred panels to omit the zip then got rid of the ruffle ....so good that we can play around with these patterns, I've just helped my daughter make the Pattern scout Joni which has a different way of getting a similar look !
Once again Whitney you have provided us with a very interesting and informative video. I was shocked that often I was able to see the color change your facial coloring. I had been wondering how a virtual color analysis could be effective. What this video showed is that while an in person color analysis is best a virtual color analysis can be very effective. Thank you for providing this video and thank you to Stephanie for providing her charm and expertise. Thank you to Jenny as well!
Love all your makes. That dress is beautiful. I love the Tempo dress but what are some of the pattern names of other tiered dresses you've made? I don't know the "Grace" dress. Will have to look that one up.
I agree with the other comments, the orange dress is gorgeous and you definitely glow while wearing that color. Great job and I’m looking forward to seeing next month’s makes. Stay cool if you can- we had a break from the heat a couple of days ago and I had all windows open overnight, 62 inside this morning! I also found out about the seasonal allergies- they just change with the season! 🤧😵but don’t go away. Hope you get a break soon.
You look great in that orange dress. I don't usually like the big fluffy sleeves but those are just perfect, not too much. And the t- shirt is just too cute.
Every one of those makes are divine! Wow. So glad to see both the Cashmerette and Seamwork makes. On to my sewing room to copy you - again. In fact, your strappy braided sandals, made me realize I don't know where mine are .... boo
