I love piranhas, but so many owners get them just to satisfy some inherent need to see other fish and/or animals suffer and be devoured by them. Cichlids are cool fish, too, and this shouldn't be done. That cichlid knows he's in trouble. =/ These fish can inhabit the same tank, if they are all introduced at the same time and when they are all young. If the tank has the required number of hiding spots, for all of the fish, and they are fed regularly ... then piranhas and cichlids can be kept together.
Yeah. I think there's a difference between it happening in a lake somewhere vs someone setting it all up in their living room. Takes a special kind of person
If you'd have had same amount and sized shoal of P. Piraya or P. Cariba red belly's it would've been plenty of educational action and a bit or gore, but it wouldn't have lasted long at all. Life is a learning experience.
... I read "African Child" and the first thing I thought of was, "What the fuck, why is it so small." then it took a second and I said outloud, "Oh god its a human"
I don't understand why people seeking macabre pleasure in the needless suffering of animals find this video disappointing. Trapping a mature fish in a tank full of carnivores and inflicting a slow, painful death on it with no escape seems to satisfy their needs.
