Pirates of the Caribbean Breakdown & Evacuation - Disneyland 

During my last trip to Disneyland, me and my family were on Radiator Springs Racers. We turned that big curb and began to go into the mater and sherif scene. All of the sudden it stopped. I look over to my sister and parents, who were very confused. The wife who was sitting in the front said “Great job [the husband’s name], you can’t even drive a fake car!” Then the lights came on and we sat there. It was so cool to see all of the animatronics just stopped! We were then greeted by a cast member who took us out. We then walked around to get the rest of the stuck cars, it was amazing to see a behind the scenes of that amazing ride!

So I was on the Haunted Mansion when it broke down and oml it was awesome. The work lights come on and the secne are more beautiful than creepy. The ride did start back up but we kept going with the work lights on and it was awesome to see how the animatronic moved, every detail, and what the cars really look like. Man was it fun

Really. I have never been on any Disney ride when it has a breakdown so seeing this is amazing.

This happened to us many years ago (Disneyland). We we're near the beginning of the ride, had to climb from our boat into another boat, then another. We we're taken out of the building and given a pass (before fast passes) to get on any ride without waiting in line. We went on rocket rods. That tells you how long ago it was!

I was stuck in figment for about 40 minutes. I was right at the end with the room with all the different figments and for some reason they wouldn’t take us off the “car”. It was really quite and the lights were on. Everyone was bored in my party so as a joke I played one little spark. People started to cheer and clap until the realized that it was my phone😅.

Two weeks ago at California Adventure I had an in-show exit for Soarin'...if you could call it that After the preshow, we boarded in the center aisle. Since I helped my grandmother get her seatbelt on, I was one of the last people putting on my seatbelt. Tricky thing is, the seatbelt got stuck. The belt was twisted, and no matter how hard I pulled, it refused to come out. I feared I would have to leave the ride and just board the next one. But my seatbelt problem was bigger than it seemed. A cast member came to help me get my seatbelt on. But he couldn't pull it out of its slot either. So, he instructed *every single person in the center row* to take off their seatbelt. Even then, my seatbelt would not come undone. Another cast member pushed a bunch of buttons to help with the seatbelt system, or something like it. It made a bunch of hissing noises. Yet, my seatbelt would not budge. My prediction is that the aisle's seatbelts are connected: if one fails, others could fail. The cast informed the center aisle that we would need to disembark by going through where we came *(in-show exit)* and board the next flight. We walked back to the preshow room. We were instructed to fill the left and right aisle's lines in the preshow. We went through the preshow...again, and boarded....again. But the entire center aisle was out of commission. A line of red fabric was placed over my previous chair with the broken seatbelt. The Soarin' ride ran as normal, but the center aisle did not take flight, it stayed immobile. Each aisle must have its own system. It was an interesting experience. I don't know if or when the center aisle was repaired. I do know that there was a 60 minute line for the ride, and that having several dozen seats out of commission probably made the line longer.

I told this story before, but we we on The Little Mermaid ride on a school trip, and our shells stopped right in front of Ursula. Everyone thought this was part of the ride as Ursula was evil and stopping the ride, but we were there for five minutes and the song was looping, so I knew something was up. Cast members finally came and told us the ride was broken, and everyone around me was shocked. We then walked out through the in-show exit.

I was on it! Unfortunately we were only in the cave with the skeleton on a pile of gold, but when we evacuated we evacuated through an underground tunnel. It was because the current stopped working and me and my sister were playing I spy for the 20 minutes we were sitting there. Edit: was there a date on it, because when it happened to us it was President’s day weekend.

Back in October my family and I got to experience a Pirates Of the Caribbean evacuation at Disneyland. On there for about an hour/ hour and a half stuck right before the bridge in the burning part. We all couldn’t get the song out of our head for the rest of the night but we got to experience the evacuation and got a bunch of fast passes for whatever we wanted!! Definitely an experience I won’t forget lol

The two rides I've been on when broken down at Disneyland were the Rapids (Grizzly River Run) and Matterhorn. On Matterhorn we were pretty close to the end of the ride and there was no exit point where we were (we were the small water section towards the end of the ride) as a result they had to come and push us to the end of the ride. On rapids we got stopped right before the first drop. Its a much different experience to the Pirates one considering its an outside ride and has a different procedure. We had to sit and wait in our raft while all the water on the ride was drained out and then a cast member had to come out and set up a ramp connecting our raft to the edge so that we could safely exit. There isn't much to see when exiting, but we had to go through the inside of the mountain so we got to see all the scaffolding being used to hold it up.

Years back Indiana Jones Adventure broke down while the jeep was on the bridge we were there for about 45 minutes. I loved it all.

I once had this same issue but in Splash Mountain at Disneyland! It was near the end, where Brer Rabbit is relaxing. We got fastpasses and got to see a little of the machinery involved in circulating the ride's water

Very interesting video! Sometimes when I go on a ride I kind of hope for an evacuation. It’s an experience I’m sure I’d remember for the rest of my life. I’ve never fully evacuated (I have been stuck for a while), but it would be awesome to get close to the show scenes

I sure had, I had a breakdown on Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates and made footage of both, it's really strange seeing the attractions that way

We were on THIS ride break down in your video. We were further back next to the mayor being dunked into the well. It was quite an experience and we were lucky to be really close to one of the docks. Waiting an hour to get off the ride was no fun but totally worth it to experience walking through back stage areas and get 2 fast passes to use on whatever we wanted.

I don’t think I’ve ever been fully evacuated off a ride before. I’ve had plenty of them stop and start again. I did get to do something probably over 10 years ago where we rode Space Mountain with the lights on and it scared the hell out of me. You can see how close and interwoven all the tracks are so it looks certain that your head will be knocked off!

I was at this after-hours event in Disneyland Paris, and as a last ride, around midnight, we decided to ride the Big ThunderMountain... only to have it break down on the last hill. We had to exit the ride vehicle, walk up some stairs to get to an exit, to then take stairs down to the bottom of the mountain, below the lake that is surrounding the attraction and then up some other stairs to come out at the ride's beginning. A memorable after-hours experience for sure :)

Been a part of many an evac. I used to work on Pirates, Splash and Thunder. Pirates was by far the most exciting to evac.

I'm just glad to hear they were rewarded for their patience, it's extraordinarily frustrating getting stuck on a ride for an hour knowing you paid to enjoy as much as you could in the time you have.

Me and my family went to disneyland last week and one of my moms friends was on the ride when this happened and she said that she was stuck on it for 1 hour! I wish i could of gone on the pirate's ride because it is my favorite and the rest of the trip it was closed.

I was evacuated a bunch of years ago from the POTC in Disneyland Paris. It was right before the drop. A cast member with a stick took the boats thing at the end or front where they could attach it to, then drag the boats to the nearest emergency exit( the one we used was at the drop. ) Sad it wasnt at the show areas

Went on Indiana Jones at Disneyland and it broke down twice on the same day. It was rather awesome 👏🏻 and the cast members were really helpful. We didn’t have to exit the ride we just waited for them to start it again and we were able to ride it immediately afterwards again. When the lights first came on and the loudspeaker was going I was a bit freaked out but from what I heard it was normal. Thanks for the video.

I was on Escape Gringotts Bank yesterday at Universal and it broke down right before we were supposed to be shot forward. It was terrifying and basically it just stopped and the projections glitched so we took our glasses off. The audio stopped and I was chatting with the chicks next to me and they were like “yea this happened last time we came.” So I’m like ???? But all of a sudden our cart shot forward and we finished the ride. We ended up not riding again sadly I wish I did but the park was gonna close soon.

This happened to me on Indiana Jones once, and it was so fun to see how everything worked. We basically got to walk through most of the ride with the lights on.

We were EVAC’d whilst riding Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World in the 90’s. Michael Eisner himself walked us off our log.

I have experienced a in show break down on Splash Mountain. It took a solid 15 min- 1 hour to evacuate. Watching the cast members unlock all the logs and let us out was interesting. I was nearing a dark scene and on a flat part on the outside. The stairs down the back 1/2 of the ride was interesting to go down. It was super back stage feel almost. Walking through a scene to the exit was also interesting to see them move, but no sound come out. I loved how tentative the cast members were. They made the process so easy!

Pirates was shut down when I was at Disney we went through once before it shut down yet again

got evacuated from thunder mountain last night. it was scary but cool at the same time! it takes away the magic from disney because you get to see behind the scenes of the ride, but it’s an opportunity that everyone should experience.

Pirates is one of my favorite rides!!!!

I’ve never had a breakdown experience but one time they had a new driver for the rafts on Tom Sawyer island and she was having a lot of trouble docking and we were one the raft for a while so they had to bring out another raft so a different driver could board and we got a free fast pass to any ride in the Disney parks and the seven dwarfs mine train was newer at the time so we picked that👍

I love when the ride breaks down, you get to see stuff that you never have seen before.

I had the privilege to be on hyperspace mountain when it broke down. Amazing how it looks with the lights turned on.

Was on Indi a few months ago and we had a in show exit we were stuck on the ride for about 45 min. The seat belt of the person sitting next to me had disengaged but later we found out from a cast remember that the seat belt was not the issue that triggered the stop and in show exit.

I always think that I'm just gonna watch one if your videos, but I never stop!

I was on radiator springs racers when it broke down at the very beginning of the ride when you see the sheriff. It was a really cool experience, but they wouldn't let us video tape or take pictures. Getting to see the ride with the lights on and with no sound made me appreciate what Disney does even more. Getting to see all the tiny details you never really see going through the ride at it's normal pace. Something all remember forever. ❤

As an amusement family, yeah! We have had a couple of breakdowns in different parks but specifically at Disneyland the Indiana Jones ride was one of the best breakdowns ever. Half way down the ride it stopped and when we finally exited, we were able to walk almost through the entire ride and see it up close with lights on. Also we had, space mountain, it's a small world, and others, great video man.

That is a GORGEOUS amount of detail put into that ride. I think if I we're stuck in there, I would have started singing "Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!" Just for fun! I don't think I have ever been in a breakdown, it's neat to see.

My favourite in show exit I’ve ever experienced was on the buzz lightyear ride. The cast member let us walk through slowly, showing us how to get the best score!
