"By the sweat of our brow's, and the strength of our back's, and the courage of our hearts! Gentleman...hoist the colors." That's the best line I believe any leader can use the rally their troops
You can see that she took that to heart when she heard it from Barbossa in his speech at shipwreck cove and how Barbossa looks at her when she uses it here . I love that little moment
Oh I don't know. It was a stirring speech given in a movie. But for real motivation try, "England expects every man to do his duty!" Or, "I have not yet begun to fight!" Those actually were battle orders that made history!!
@@morganpirate9127 one of my favorites General Armisted, July 3 1863, Gettysburg "Virginia's! For your land's, for your homes, for your sweethearts, for your wives... for Virginia! Forward! March!" He spoke those words before the armies of the south around 15000 men crossed the open ground to reach the union line, and when they reached the range of musket fire he stuck his sword through his hat and shouted: "Virginian's! With me! Who will come with me?" And charged the lines of soldiers and cannons in the attempt to turn the cannons on the unions
This is the Way. Although a sucker for all things Tolkien the speech by Theoden works very well imho. A lot of other movies have tried the same recipe afterwards which is a nice shoulder pat (looking a you, Marvel-movies) but not with the same effect. Here with 'the King, a build-up from 3 great movies are coming to an end and stakes are high. Solid actor, solid speech with a aura of something historical and monumental. Patos, indeed. Arise now, arise, Riders of Théoden! Dire deeds awake: dark is it eastward. Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded! Forth Eorlingas! Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!
This scene always brings me to tears, Elizabeth delivered that speech flawlessly and with excellence. This movie will always be my favourite out of the franchise.
I love Elizabeth's hoarse voice and how her voice breaks several times. With all the noise around, it's realistic that she needs to scream at the very top of her lungs to get her message across. It's something that some translations and dubbers miss.
I love that moment, I have to say Elizabeth definitely learned more from Barbossa than she did from Jack . Even in the first movie where she wants to convince the crew the go back for Jack and uses Barbossa's words "the code is more like guidelines anyways "
Dalek Emperor: [addressing his Dalek fleet/army] "Purify the Earth with fire. The planet will become my temple and we shall rise. This will be our Paradise!"
And what shall we die for? You will listen to me. Listen! The Brethren will still be looking here to us, to the Black Pearl to lead. And what will they see? Frightened bilge rats aboard a derelict ship? No. No, they will see free men and freedom! And what the enemy will see is the flash of our cannons. They will hear the ring of our swords and they will know what we can do. By the sweat of our brows, and the strength of our backs and the courage of our hearts. Gentlemen, hoist the colours!
Supreme Dalek: "ALL DALEK WARSHIPS!!! PREPARE FOR BATTLE!!! RAISE SHIELDS, CHARGE WEAPONS, AND HOIST THE FUCKING COLORS!!! MAXIMUM EXTERMINATION!!!" All Daleks: "WE OBEY!!!" [chant ecohing] "HOIST THE COLORS!!! HOIST THE COLORS!!! HOIST THE COLORS!!!"
After I suggested it, the Pittsburgh Pirates got permission to use the clip, and they would play it on the big screen just before the Pirates came to bat in the bottom of the ninth.
The only issue i had with Elizabeth's character is she used lines other's used before as her own and maybe added 1 or 2 things. Nothing was really unique about her dialogue in the films.
Why does this make me tear up? I absolutely love this speech. Maybe because I live in a world where men aren't truly men anymore women 400 years ago were stronger than most men are today sad but true
Lml Jack isn’t really a speech guy plus he already did at the brethren court. He motivated them to get to this point but because Calypso failed they lacked confidence and Elizabeth the pirate king queen had to give another speech to her loyal subjects
