I have a stil functioning PSr60 myself! And a DX7. Thanks for the kind words; I can't seem to help messing up (even with the Batman piece that I've played many, many times) but you get the gist. Currently working on a couple more pieces (but trying to setup the arrangements) I tried playing this on a more affordable board; loses a lot of the impact, but you still get the gist of it.

Fair enough... I *really* tried to recreate the Batman Theme, this one was just kind of by memory. Also, the Batman Theme drumbeat was easy to create... this one wasn't. Luckily, Yamaha *saw* this video and made a much better version of the drums... I'll upload a new version of "Pirates" using their new drum beat, maybe it'll be better?

Wow nice one!!! I like this version, perfect execution, timing, good sequence and good sound quality... I thought only a Yamaha Stagea, Yamaha Electone or Yamaha Tyros can produce this kind of sound but it is way better than the sound of the Yamaha Electones that I am using... This Yamaha Clavinova CVP-509 has a wide range of voices and produces very good sounds plus you using it, it's even more fantastic... Two thumbs up for you and please record more songs and upload more videos... :)
@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 11 лет назад
Yeah, I had to program what sound sets to use... and unfortunately, I didn't volume balance them all that well (some of the horns are too loud)
@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 11 лет назад
That's what I used, so of course yours can sound exactly the same; I used my own custom style (but use the Movie Sountrack style), and the sound quality is good because I used the built in USB internal recording (lossless). As for how to do the registration switching, basically I saved a bunch of soundscapes (strings, brass, split point, timpany) to the different memory registers.

Done! And thanks for all the kind words. Actually, the CVP409/509 can both do this (nearly identically), and even the 209 and 309 do a decent job. As well, the following keyboards can do it at roughly the same level of quality (or higher!): PSRs910, s950; Tyros 2, 3, 4, PSRs750, CVP505, CVP407.

@Pianoconnoisseur29

@alphasxsignal Yup it's the 16 track sequencer that loops everything.
@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 3 года назад
Not sure what you're referring to, as there's no midi file being played; just the rythm style?
@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 11 лет назад
Automatic requires you to have a backing track (and is too much effort to program). It's much quicker to just set the registration changes to your pedal, in this case I used the left pedal for registration change, and the right for the drum fills. (there's no sustain in baseball... I mean orchestras anyway)
@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 11 лет назад

@584emad

@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 11 лет назад
Well, it *is* possible to use a midi file (non looping) or even a wav/mp3 file to play on top of. I watched Peter Baartmans play live piano on the CVP over a .wav file of Michael Jackson singing 'Ben' (vocals only). That was pretty neat! I just personally don't use pre-recorded tracks, but I use the built in (and custom for this and Halo) rhythm accompaniments. I'll upload one someday without drums or accompaniment so you can see the difference.

@@MarkWilburnTLM You do well honestly by the way I used to play the piano too.
@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 11 лет назад
Yup, these are my interpretations... if you listen to the 'Skull & Crossbones' track, I ommited the Celtic pipe falls (I didn't have a good substitute sound) and I didn't like the way it just fades out at the end, so I ended it with a timpany roll. For the Batman one, I didn't like Elfman's ending of the 1st one, and I didn't like the way the theme starts in Batman Returns, so I essentially merged them (with a little creative re-arranging)
@MarkWilburnTLM
@MarkWilburnTLM 11 лет назад
no, but I've seen the sheet music... different 'order' from what I played, but very similar. I played based on the track "Skull & Crossbones" by Klaus Badelt

Nice work. Did you setup all the voices to come in at the time. I don't see you hitting any Reg keys. I guess the CVP models can change voices automatic as you play if you set them up?
@MarkWilburnTLM

I actually don't use sheet music myself, and for most of these videos I had to play by ear because I tried looking, and couldn't find the version I wanted. However, for the Pirates of the Caribbean theme, the single sheet music for "He's a Pirate" comes awfully close. Also, the single Sheet music for the Gr10 RCM version of John William's Harry Potter looks accurate... but *really* hard to play.

Holy slowpokes Batman, sorry this comment took me 5 years to see; yes I've played all the Avant Grands (I like the N1 a lot; much more than the Nu1x or its predecessor). If I could do this all again, instead of a CVP (which I bought) I'd have bought an N1 and either a PSRs970/975 (which I did) or a Genos (depending on how loudly the Mrs yelled at me for it)

I used a piece from the 1st films sountrack (hence Klaus Badelt, before Hans Zimmer took back full control) called Skull and Crossbones, but yeah, the drum beat was *way* off. Yamaha made a beat just for Pirates of the Caribbean (apparently after they saw this video!) but it's also off. People think it's cool that I can listen to a piece and play it back without sheet music, but I need that for drum beats. I *cannot* figure out what the drums *should* be.
