This is SUCH a great movie and Jack Sparrow is one of the best movie characters of all time. You may know this already, but Johnny Depp dresses up as Jack Sparrow and visits sick kids in children's hospitals and stuff. He's been doing that for years which I think is really cool. Side note: I absolutely LOVE that you dressed up for this and you two should do more cosplay movie reactions, that's really fun and entertaining! Cheers

I'm not sure if you knew this or not & I'm letting you guys know just in case if you guys didn't know this, but if you continue to watch the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, make sure that you guys watch all the way through the ending credits because after the ending credits, they always have one last scene to watch. For example with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the last scene after the ending credits shows Captain Barbossa's pet monkey Jack taking one of the cursed medallions back out of the chest again and you see Jack rurn back into a cursed monkey again. But there's one final scene after the ending credits for the following Pirates of the Caribbean movies, which are Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides & Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. I hope that helps you guys out! I hope that you guys will watch the rest of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies because they really are amazing movies & I really enjoy watch your guys reactions to different movies. Great Ormond Street children's hospital in London is particularly close to Johnny's heart because that's where his daughter went when she got ill once. You can see him on the Graham Norton show on RU-vid talking about it.

Fun fact: They originally wanted Hugh Jackman to play Captain Jack Sparrow. They said that the writers even used Jack like in Hugh Jackman's name to entice him to take the role. As we can see. Johnny did the role the best.

Depp also did all of the mannerisms without prompting, and everyone thought he was ruining the character because it didn't seem "pirate" enough.

@@alondor8157 "Better" is a relative term. Every actor would do it differently. There may well be someone who would do this character much "better", depending on what you mean by that word. I'm very fond of it, but I'm not going to pretend it's the "best" when there is nothing to compare it to in the first place.

What you missed was Jack's slight of hand when he grabbed the coins telling Barbosa to wait for the opportune moment. He grabbed 4 coins but only dropped 3. Will saw him pocket one which is why Jack was now part of the curse. You need to watch the rest...4 more to go - Dead Man's Chest, At Worlds' End, On Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales which of the series is my 2nd favorite.

A movie based on a Disney ride. 😂 It’s usually the other way around. I was seriously skeptical when this movie came out, but I became an instant fan. You two look pretty good as pirates. You should wear that for the Dodgeball reaction!

Is that actually the origin? That's crazy. It's one of my fav movies of all time. Not a huge fan of the sequels, though. If that's indeed the origin, though, Hollywood would do a lot better adapting shit source material, instead of ruining great source material time and time again.

Loosely based on the ride. Then after this film blew up, the changed the ride to match the movie. Pretty much the only thing from the OG ride are the men in the cell trying to get the keys from the dog and the pirate drinking place - Tortuga, I suppose.

This movie is so funny and so well done. I had read that Disney executives, and other actors kept asking him what the hell he was doing during filming. They were like "are you supposed to be drunk are you supposed to be gay? like what is this thing that you're doing?" Johnny Depp said "fire me or trust me with this role". I guess acting like that doesn't translate without editing. Anyhow Disney gets to eat a big doo doo sandwich for firing the best pirate that ever existed. On that note I'm going to watch that movie right now!!

I think the moment at 27:00 when Jack is working his way up between the pirates and Barbosa says "Not possible." is one of my favourites in all of cinema. There are few things more badass than instilling superstitious dread in the literal undead skeletal pirates.

A year late, but just imagine the situation from the perspective of Barbossa: You mutineer and leave the old captain to die on a tiny island. You get cursed, pillage, kill, and god knows what for years. You almost get back all the aztec gold to lift the curse. Then, you probably hear from one of your crew that he saw Jack Sparrow alive in the prison cells of a city you just raided. Well, you think, hes gonna get hanged. Doesnt concern you. You wonder how the hell he managed to get off that island tho. Then, when youre about to lift the curse on the isle de muerta, Jack appears. He somehow managed to evade certain death AGAIN. You put him back on that island with a random woman. Sure, he made a miraculous escape from there once, but what the hell are the chances. Youre about to kill Bills son to finally lift the curse. Who appears out of absolute nowhere? Jack Sparrow. At this point, you just dont even think about killing Jack. You just listen to his bullshit. What else are you gonna do? You shoot him, he will die in front of you, and a few days later he will absolutely come back for revenge or something. This man cannot die.

That garment Elizabeth Swann is locked into is called a corset. In the early days, these torture garments were tied tightly in place with laces, making it hard for a woman to breathe (more important to look good than feel good). Corsets eventually evolved into girdles, which replaced laces with elastic, allowing women to at least breathe, even if not to have an 18 inch waist.

I love this movie but I had to see it twice. The first time I saw it, my brother died the day before. It was my brother-in-law's way of coping. I watched it, I think a year later and I enjoyed it more the second time around.

The Disney ride that inspired the movies that in turn re-inspired the ride. Johnny Depp is Jack Sparrow. No one else could ever play him as well. His idea of modeling Sparrow “loosely” off Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones is pure genius.

Johnny Depp is from my hometown, Owensboro, Kentucky. He recently came home to visit family and was just casually walking through a residential area by himself. People that lived on that street spotted him, asked for a pic, and he posed, hugged their kids, and smiled 🥹🥹🥹.. his only request was to wait until he left town to post the photos on social media. He is so gracious and sweet and down to earth!! And also, Asia and BJ, those outfits are ON POINT!! YES!!! ❤️❤️#teamJohnny #pirates

One of my favorite t-shirts is Jack Sparrow saying "but why is the rum gone?" Jack saying "there will be no living with her after this" is the funniest line ever. Jack is an "anti-hero". Not a good guy but he is still the one you end up rooting for.

I loved Jack’s line when she burned all the rum to bring the ship to rescue them, and then Jack sees the ship coming he said, “there will be no living with her after this”. Hahahaha. Some things, the female pirate on the ship is Zoe Saldana (Gamora) and she apparently said she almost quit acting after doing this movie. Jack Sparrow was loosely based on a real pirate named Jack Rackem “Calico Jack” who was known for wearing flashy/exotic attire and have it 2 notorious female pirates in his crew, Mary Reed and Anne Bonnet. Also pirates typically had their own personal pirate flag design and the skull with cutlasses design was Calico Jacks flag. Jack had the curse because when he was telling Barbossa to wait till after he killed the soldiers, you can see him slip one of the coins up his sleeve.

When I heard this movie was coming out, I was so excited. When I heard the musical score, I was SO EXCITED. When I saw the movie, I WAS SO EXCITED! There was nothing about this movie that did not hit the mark 100%. Johnny Depp, of course, was the absolute best as Captain Jack Sparrow.

You guys are so much fun to watch with ❤️❤️❤️ 7:21 yes the corset was too tight 🤣 Historic note: Sadly lots of women died after falling into water in those days because of the amount of dress, underskirts and petticoats they wore. They literally sank like an anchor as the fabric got wet. Lacing was usually at the back. Even if men jumped in to save the women it was sometimes too difficult to remove the garments. Very tragic 😕

This movie really is like a cartoon made live. It makes so much sense to look at it and imagine Disney would draw it just like this with the camera angles and funny bits and usually that is not how live action movies are made. I feel that is one thing that makes this unique.

Every year north of Houston there’s a huge renaissance festival, every weekend in October and November, different theme every weekend, the most popular in my opinion is the pirate weekend, such a great time, there’s a big pirate bar on the grounds with captain Jacks everywhere, so much fun especially if you dress up then you feel like part of community, I used to go at least 4 weekends, I lived close just south of the forest down there, thanks y’all! And look for a festival near you

Avast, me hearties! Pirate movies have been around since the beginning of movies, always full of adventure, action & romance and commonly referred to as "swashbucklers". Johnny Depp makes the best pirate captain since Errol Flynn in the 30's. And what a great sense of humor he adds to the role. This whole franchise is beautifully filmed & wildly entertaining. Jack is the definition of "Chaotic Neutral". Might save your life, might rob you blind. The only thing about him that you can trust is that you cannot trust him, and the only side he's on is whichever side is beneficial to him in the moment. The main driving force for him is, above all else, the freedom to do whatever the hell he wants whenever the hell he wants, and damn the consequences.

Before Johnny Depp was cast as Jack Sparrow, Hugh Jackman, Harrison Ford, Jim Carrey, Christopher Walken, Robert DeNiro, Matthew McConaughey, Cary Elwes, Bill Murray, Steve Martin and Robin Williams were considered. Tobey Maguire, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Ben Peyton, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Tom Hiddleston, and Chris Masterson were considered for Will Turner Jessica Alba, Amanda Bynes, and Jaimie Alexander were considered for Elizabeth Swann. Sylvester McCoy of Doctor Who and Tom Wilkinson were considered for Governor Swann. Steven Spielberg was almost picked to direct the film but dropped out as he was too busy working on Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can, both released in 2002.

I can never remember if I actually post this comment or just think I should. Usually I get so into watching your reviews that I forget by the time they end. Asia you are such a beautiful lady and I love when you watch scary parts between your fingers. I love how BJ says 'look, look, look' and how you tease Asia for being scared and hiding behind her fingers/blanket. I am excited to watch this review.

My late wife and I are both pirate descendants of pirates. Hers was Cortez and mine are Drake and Charles Vane, so this was a good film for us to enjoy. I liked the scale the movie was, big.

29:36 it happened when he was telling them that the British were outside waiting. when he proposed the plan to wait to lift the curse until just the right moment(grabs several coins) "like when you've killed all of Norrington's men... every(clink) last(clink) one(clink)" then right after he says that it shows him subtly sliding a coin into his sleeve that's when he became cursed.
