@@jeffcoesk8935 a world class physical therapist Kelly Starrett if I remember correctly says if chiropractic doesn't solve an issue after a few sessions it's not necessary. It's kind of a scam. It's a business they want you to come back. It can be helpful in certain situations and a dangerous or a scam in others. The science I've seen says to avoid neck work. There is a podcast called science vs about it if you want to listen. It's your neck, do what you want.
@@kevinishki I only went when I needed it. He fixed my problem and I stopped going, so there's that. I need someone to straighten my body out I feel like my right shoulder sits lower than my left, and when doing Lateral raises I feel much more tension in my left shoulder where as the right is free flowing and much stronger
I've been suffering from sciatic pain since i was 15. I'm 29 . I freaking cried when I started to feel relief. I still have alot of therapy left. Eternally grateful. Thank you.
What were your symptoms? I'm hurting for 2 years now and no pysician can diagnose me of anything. I feel like i could be suffering of this but the symptos are a little different
I had this for a long time. Excruciating pain every time I walked. I eventually sorted it out by riding a bike and doing trap bar squats, but it was a very low point in my life. Glad I'm done with it.
I have just tested this rotation and it's like someone blind being able to see for the first time. This is such amazing and useful information. Now all I have to do is strengthen my glute due to a stretched muscle. Thank you so much as this is life saving information. I wish you lots of wealth.
Dude, same I always thought I had a herniated disc and it finally went out but I was too stubborn to go to the hospital so I just rested. It burned so bad, like a deep stretch cramp burn but constant and unrelenting. I’m grateful to have found something that gives me some relief. Leg is still sore but I think I’m on the right path!
I have it right now in my right butt cheek and sciatic pain that goes down my leg… It sucks lol - I’m 36 and this stems from my powerlifting days.. Take it easy guys, there is modern medicine and stretching, but the pain hasn’t truly left over the last 6 years. I have been able to get back to 80-90% where I was but it’s never fully healed. Just be careful and take care of your body.
Hey nick,at any point did you lose strength in your right leg?I'm having the same issue, only it feels like a disconnect in flexion of my foot.i can move it but it gives out under any amount of load.
What helped was doing physical therapy, I went to the doctor, and he referred me to a PT. For the pain of piriformis syndrome and sciatica symptoms, I took naproxen (it was prescribed to me by my Doc) The pain was so horrible it woke me up every 20 minutes at night. Not getting enough sleep also makes you feel more pain. Make sure not to take to many pain relive pills because it hurts your internal organs in a long run. Please talk to your Doctor! The Heating Pad helped so much. I did it for up to 8 hours a day. The best exercise will be either doing clam shells, or pirifomsis stretch! For the Scitica Nerve it will be Nerve Glides. I highly recommend using a tennis ball and doing some soft tissue work around the buttock pain before exercising. Again, going to the PT was a great choice. It took me 3 whole month! Currently it does still feel a little tender but I can go back to work! It was really tough.
A bartender told me about these. It's a local MMA bar and the bartenders are also fighters. But he knew exactly which muscle this was and what was causing my issue. Thanks to J C I now know what to look for when doing research about my pain. Thanks to these videos for showing how the exercises are done.
Great information! That's the most diagnostic video I've seen for this as well as giving the associated therapies. Perhaps you should hash tag sciatica or mention sciatica in the title somewhere, because that's where I started my search. I don't believe most people will search and find the name of the muscle. Most people who are in the various professions that treat this really want to bang the cash register and kick you out the door.
I ve been struggling with this exact pain since October. I am so glad to have come across this video, hopefully I can remedy the situation and be able to squat heavy again
I had it for a long time. It exacerbated my depression to a tipping point. I started riding a bike and doing trap bar squats along with stretching. Couldn't say exactly what fixed it, but identifying the problem is always the first step.
@@vivianeraw8448 Well I made that comment 10 months ago, and I've made a ton of progress since then. Most people's issues from from weak spots in their hips, weak hip flexors, and most importantly weak hip extensors. Mastering the deep squat is key, and the goblet squat is a great way to get started. Don't worry about going heavy until you can comfortably squat all the way down and back up. From there I'd add in a cossak squat and a deep lunge. Both unweighted at first. Those three exercises have helped me achieve the best shape of my life.
I couldn't work out what mine was , I've tried professional help and done massage , stretches and exercises ... But this video fixed it . Brilliant help 👍👍👍
OMG it worked like magic, this is god send. Thank you very much for this video, I felt IMMEDIATE relief. I just need to do everyday to get rid of the pain permanently. 👍😍👍👍
I did all the things for my issue. Strengthen the gluts so the can take the strain the piriformis is taking. Sleep on a hard surface. I moved to a floor set up. Stretch...but don't over stretch. Get some deep tissue massage work done. Healing takes constancy and intention.
I have this in my right glute, started after a heavy hack squat session. My form was good but I probably made a mistake on bracing because I was tired. I don't really feel a "painful" pain, it's just something that is there. The pain only aggravates when I actually try to do a squat (I'm 20 btw)
VERY HELPFUL!! been struggling for weeks to figure out what's been going on. I do yoga. Just found your videos about the side plank clam shell and the dns star ( which I haven't tried yet ) still working on the side plank clam shell. It's incredible how much I feel my obliques and get ahold of my muffin top on my weak side to address the horrible symmetry I have. Yoga just doesn't do enough. Finding this out may have saved me tons of money down the road. How many sets and reps? I actually have this resistance bands called Gritin. I use the grey medium. And have used the 3x extra heavy for squatting. But how many reps and sets. And I do track workouts. Like 200m 10x. Jog one full lap. Plyometrics. Bike riding 1 hour each day I workout 3-4 times a week
both sides are always sore but also very flexible. I roll it with a tennis ball all the time, but it only provides temporary relief. will have to try the strength exercises he said since flexibility is not the problem
What if the pain is in the upper butt and lumbodorsal fascia? Like 2 fingers above where the butt line begins. Where the lower back stops and begins the upper part of the butt. What could it be?
I have real issues with the idea of putting direct pressure on already irritated tissue, especially in close proximity to major nerves. Makes me wonder if these clients even have actual Piriformis syndrome in the first place.
I got this from having a pretty bad hip flexor strain on my left side. Had to work on the bad hip and walk 10+miles a day.. this led to my right piriformis getting this compensatory injury. Finally a month later my hip has healed and now I just gotta fix this.
I slept on a memory foam mattress and it made my left pelvis believe it was injured because the mattress allowed my pelvis to sink and now all the hip flexors and periformis are frozen hard and trying to do anything like clamshells creates a horrible pinch and my glute isn't working so I can step up stairs. Worst injury of my life.
This is what i’m noticing too LOL! Got weak glutes? Clamshell stretch. Lower back problems? Clamshell stretch. Instability? Clamshell stretch. No bitches? Clamshell stretch.
My pain goes down to my left outer ankle ( tingly and aching) my “bum” hurts so badly 😢 I’m going to try these! When I wake up- the pain is worst. ( this has been happening for 3 weeks now)
just suddenly started experiencing this a cpl wks now after doing leg cable kick backs and every week it's going further down my leg. now pain behind, knee, calf and ankle
Hi ! I have pain when I squat or deadlift heavy (in relation to my strength) on the right side of my lower back, and it extends to my right ass cheek too. I can relieve the pain by stretching my right glute but I don't really know what this is or what causes it (form is good, from videos I shot). Can you help me or redirect me to the right video ? Is it this one ?
Could be many things, poor form, glute tendinopathy, non specific lower back pain, neural sensitivity, sij pain, ... You should seek a professional PT's opinion
Because of a short leg and not having the proper Footwear I have a lot of muscle at your feet that I'm trying to get out of. This is happening to me I get the shooting pains all the way down in my calf and a real sore spot deep in the glute. Life is misery almost 2 years now
Fortunately, I've never had piriformis syndrome. But seeing the anatomy of and around this muscle and knowing how to treat it, informs me on how it develops and what I can do to keep from developing it. Many thanks!
ohh no. I just got these symptoms after a mountain hike last month and its very bad I can't even find a good position to sleep or sit. seven years wth😓
Agree. Never rool it. You cannot fix piriformis syndrom that way. You got to change the postition of your pelvis. I fixed it fully, now check it out on my youtube account. I posted alot of solutions
Perhaps you could talk more slowly and describe these movements in more detail. You could make a 10 or 20 minute video out of these things you fly through in this video
Great content. I have a question. If you have ‘long syndrome’ how would that contribute to causing irritation to the sciatic nerve, and in turn, how would strengthening the piriformis assist with alleviating symptoms?
And if you have si joint dysfunction, woukd you still recommended doing thedr hip capsule stretches or could it make the si joint hypermobile dysfunction worse?
I’m not sure if mine’s a disc bulge or a piriformis syndrome, I feel a tingling sensation in the lower back and around the glutes, sometimes its also around the quads. They’re not painful either, I can walk normally, but it hurts when I bend forward like when I pick up stuff. I also think I’ve gotten this from a bad squat or a bad sumo deadlift.
What if I have equal pain on both sides and it's causing me problem with bending foward? I literally can bend more than 15 degrees foward without feeling tense and stuck and glute pain.
Hey doctor, I had something like a piriformis or sciatica issue for 4 months I tried everything... But stretches would be so painful even though I did it for 2 months but then I decided to get injections or last result surgery as they are saying there is something showing in he mri.... I've never had a back issue it's always been my butt then down the right side of my leg to my calf but miraculously it has been gone for more than 1 week would I still go ahead with the injections they still havent called for my appointment it takes weeks I hear thanks
So is it possible to build muscle in the legs and glutes after recovering from sciatica? Or is this an on going thing that changes your life😑I’m sorry if that sounds stupid but I’m just now experiencing these nerve pains for the first time and I’m really upset. I just started trying to build muscle out of being body conscious lol.
I've been having sciatic nerve issues with some pain and thinking I had a herniated disc. Some stretching gave relief but every day is different then the others. I thought trying to focus on the piriformis. Stretching it somewhat helps. I dug my fingers in to the piriformis and messaged it. For 2 days there's no sciatic discomfort. Are conventional piriformis stretches not really stretching it? I'm beginning to think so..
@@devinreed5725 Thank you, I actually decided to do some rhomboid strengthening, massaging the entire traps and rotational work, now it has fully disappeared ^^
What is it you turn foot inwards and foot rotation 90 degrees up. That's the pain I'm getting. Not the other direction. Man it hurts bad. Even locks up when I stand and out leg straight or walk it will just stop me from walking at times for a few seconds.
Can this cause your hip to click as well? I think I might have this issue. Whenever I walk a certain distance I have to move my hips to click just above the periformis. I’m only 30 years old and had this issue for about 2 years now.
i had the same combination of clicking with pain. Turned out that the asymmetrical position of the pelvis cause piriformis pain and clicking. Now im posting videos about the solutions on my yotube account.welcome
Help me i have 2 shoulders that are messed up, left one is in constant pain and cracks with any movement and can get locked up and i have to undo the movement that locked the arm to fix it, and my right shoulder has a point where it will physically jump a section in my muscles where its idk but i can't make a full rotation with it and when i hit that jump in my mobility its painful as hell, and because of the left shoulder being out of place its effecting my neck now and is pinching nerves on the top of my spine and because of the pinching in my spine the bottom of my spine is being pinched and my hips are being effected by the lower spine and making them have serious pressure all the time so i have to crack my back but by cracking my back its hurting my spine which made the middle of my spine extremely weak i can't lift a empty plate without feeling seriously crushing in the middle of my spine and it hurts so much, i am 17 years old this shouldn't be happening to me yet this is a cry for help doctors don't know what is wrong with me a chiropractor made everything worse and all i hear from everyone is we can't help you, someone who has any possible idea or know anyone who might please help me im in so much pain always
