Rhoda Scott Trio with Sarah Morrow trombone, Julie Saury drums. Recorded the full show in january 2006 A38 ship, Hungary, Budapest. (i have) Rhoda played on my Hammond A100 + Leslie142 (B3/122) rhodascott.com/
I accompanied Rhoda Scott on the drums as a duo in the years 1992/93 over several months and on about twenty dates, I keep one of my best professional memories! We played really well together! in total relaxation, and she gave me great freedom in my drumming, plus a solo where I sang a little "scatt" ... She is a very great Artist with a feeling on edge, she sings remarkably well too, I wish her the best and if she reads me: I would like to tell her that I will always love her, with her kindness, her humility, her simplicity, her immense talent and her great spirituality...(by Didier D 'Agostino ,drummer-composer).
Awesome organist. Yes she is playing a Hammond A-100 a great instrument that I grew up with. She has such a pure and full sound. Love the fact that she is not afraid to play full chords! Thanks for posting.
Did you ever realized, that these days's good music(very rare anyway) always has some kind of sadness. But not her music! Her stuff is full of happyness, and joy!Unbeliveable!!! :)
Rhoda Scott has been one of the great jazz organ players for close to 35 years. She plays "the right way" and few can match her "organ room" sound. She is also a really great person and loves to mentor younger players. Many "cut their teeth" with her and she has much to be proud of.
In Pittsburgh Pa we had the hill district and this was the sound. You had Jimmy Smith and Gene Ludwig and the list goes one and on and you had Max Roach Art Blakey Stanley Turrentine and Walt Harper and Ray Brown on Bass. All the great jazz chicks and cats jammed at the Hill. Also Joey De Franceso this reminds me of those times. thanks for posting.
Rhoda is one of the most talented organists! I love how she plays those full block chords. Of course there is nothing so great as that Hammond Organ! Thanks for posting.
da AHM ... that was incrdible!! Just stumbled upon it as a RU-vid offering "you might be interested' ... now, I just GOTTA find everything this SMOKIN trio has laid down!
Rhoda Scott's lived in France for years. There are many American jazz players over there. It's a much more appreciative audience over there, day-in, day-out. Barbara Dennerlein doesn't play here often for the same reason.
