I love pistol whip for a workout, and synth riders. Its a fun workout. but ppl need to understand, it is an actual workout, you NEED to replace electrolytes like magnesium potassium when you play these, or you will cramp up badly. I was cramped up for a month and a half untill I loaded up on magnesium, just from pistol whip and SR.
Got this for psvr and its still SO GOOD I've gotten the tracking to be pretty good and I can dodge lean crouch and all around have a good time. Only problem is my neck gets messed up after 30 minutes lol
I'm late to the party but WOO this is a good one! I've been on a beat saber kick lately and wanted something new. This popped up and I figured I'd just buy it after seeing a few reviews. Worth it after 15 seconds into the first scene. My kinda game!!!
I love Pistol Whip, it is the best game to live out your action hero fantasies that you always dreamed of. I feel like I mastered the game(sort of), to the point I get 200s left, right, and center because of my god-like aim(I don’t trust myself with Deadeye)and I follow the beat. I just wish this game have more difficulties. Even in Hard difficulty, I still feel like the game is just too easy. Like Expert, Expert+, and the extremely difficult, but not impossible Overclocked difficulty(basically Pistol Whip on steroids and overdrive, one life only, and a bunch of new enemy types). Overall, I like Pistol Whip. The game has a lot of potential.
My go to for workouts is revolver only no mods and I play the most difficult lvls. Full throttle, download the future, the cowboy lvls (all of them), and a couple more. You have to kill everyone or restart. I was able to hit top 100 for most of them but download the future eludes me!
My workout routine is play the level “dead by dawn” on hard mode with bullet hell and high velocity modifiers on, it feels like you are standing in a hurricane of bullets
Hey Ari! Loved the review man. This was super useful I love when you give information on what extra settings we can use to get an even better workout out of a game. I didn’t even know about the revenge mode. Keep those tips coming! Thank you :)
Love this game. Was the 3rd game I got for quest and still play it often. In the top 5 on the majority of the leaderboards involving dead eye mode, top 3 on many of them.
I love that this game has so many modifiers too. It’s great for someone like myself who has a heart condition. I love VR but some games or modes in games is really difficult. If I turn off obstacles in Beat Saber I can play for a few songs before needing a breather. But with Pistol whip I can barely finish a song without getting tired, so having the ability to turn off bullet, damage and obstacles to make it less intense is awesome. I just wish there was a way to keep damage on but not have to avoid the bullets like maybe if you take too long to shoot them you get damage, or something like that
Pistol whip is the bomb. I wear plate carriers all the time for work, and I wear team Wendy training plates sometimes when I play pistol whip, but not always. I'm already decently in shape, and have many years wearing weight while doing strenuous activity. Be smart people! I play hard, revenge, bullet hell, and double armor, usually with machine pistols. More dodging, more betta for me. -CuddleTwerk
Some people can go their whole lives with no issues, but since oculus is built with new fitness people in mind, this is why i recommend against it. Just takes one wrong lean and its game over.
@@FitProVR you are correct! I think it would be wise to include that in your video! Also, I'm not using a "weighted vest" so to speak. The training plates I mentioned above are a total of 10 lbs, which is a large difference from a normal loaded weight vest. :)
I got my son a Quest last Christmas and from that we picked up a second one as a family VR. I played Pistol Whip for the first time last night and holy crap, I loved it. It was a great workout and was super fun! I am working on losing weight and I'm down 25 lbs so far by changing my diet. I've been using the VR every night as a way to get my heartrate up and still have fun while doing it. I had back surgery so I have to stay away from the free weights, but I want to move. I changed from a physical job life style to working behind a desk and man did I put on the weight. My biggest focus right now is getting to where I can get my heartrate up for 20+ minutes a day and getting my reflexes back up. So far, I've been enjoying playing beat saber and now this game. I try my best to keep my legs moving while playing both games. Having the physical movement mixed with the cognitive reactions is a whole lot of fun.
I bought Pistol Whip a few years ago and after a few months just never used my VR again.. but I recently started using it again for meditation and of course PW and I forgot how much I love this game. I bought it because I love FP shooter games (COD) and was pleasantly surprised when I realized it was a hell of a workout too. So yeah, totally agree with you! Also, do you by chance know what the flashing squares are on the ground are for or are they just for looks? I always sway with them but wasn't sure if there was something specific I was supposed to do when they reach me. Thanks! Cheers :)
Only played for a bit, and on normal, so I'm know for a fact it's getting harder. But so far, Creed make me sweat like 20 times harder. So if you're looking for another one, go creed. You're also ducking and weaving to avoid swings, but you're only punching, so you get arms too. That said, I'm certain that once I crank the difficulty, pistol whip is going to catch up, and Creed seems like something you wouldn't want to play every day, since it's pretty simple in terms of the actual game. Pistol whip seems like it'll still be fun even if you do play every day
Pistol Whip probably the best VR game ever. The one thing about this game that kind of sucks for workout is that I've found on hard all I have to do is move my head in slow circle pattern and nothing hits me. It would be nice if they gave an update where bullets came out you with a little randomness so you are forced to react rather then find a movement pattern that just auto dodges everything.
awesome info on weight vests! exactly what I was looking for. I noticed in box vr you burn more calories by dodging and ducking so it makes sense it could cause injury with weight vests and unnecessary in VR
I second ditching the weighted vest. The key to a great fitness VR game is that you can't make it into a workout. If you make it a workout, it ceases to be fun. If the game is fun, you're going to play it nonstop. Just an hour of this will burn 300-400 calories.
I got it on quest 2 but I didn’t feel like working out on my gaming time lol. Got it today for PSVR 2 and I’m gonna try it again. Wish my fat ass luck.
I tried it, but if you're killed you have to restart. Really kills the flow. When enemies shoot three times in a row and there's four of them, it is rough!
You’re still alerted if you get hit with Bulletproof mode on, so as long as you take the game seriously and don’t ease up just because you can’t die I think it’s a fine way to play the game, especially as you’re trying to get better 👍
It gets better... you will laugh at that statement when you get used to it and start vibing with the game. Just like any game you get better! Keep it up. I'm working on my dual combos. So fun when you can match to the song beat.
How's this game in terms of knee-bending? The Quest 2 has been a wonder in getting my old, sedentary self moving again. But the knees, they aren't so great. Like others, I have to consider whether a game is fine with sidesteps. Because bending the knees over and over only ends in tears.
A lot of knee pain is due to hip or ankle mobility more than it is the actual knee. I would say try hitting you hips and IT band with a foam roller before hand to see if it helps
Start off with 1lb then gradually increase +.5/1Lb at a time and it will be fine. No problem with your back. I’ve done this for training with boxing 🥊 and it DEFINITELY makes you faster
Just started playing pistol whip is there a no fail option like beat saber so you can you it as a continuous workout? I literally bought it last night when I got a discount for a game code that would expire last night.
Especially if you turn off auto-aim, the game involves a ton of crouching, squatting, stepping, and twisting out of the way of bullets. The first time I played, my legs were sore for almost 3 days after. No other exercises have ever done that to me.
Good, so it depends on extend of your spine so you don't bend, so you can put a rod or buy a weight vest that has a rod in it, so it can't bend in mm, so you have to go down on your hip, but not your spine, but it will cause a problem with the knee since it cause higher pressure on the knee since all muscle within your body is balance but your weight on top is outbalanced to bottom so cause a problem, right, so ya can put a weight with the rod if your knee is stronger, but your knee is limit so can't get stronger, so weight vest is not good for your knee and your spine, but you can put the rod on wrist weight since you only move your arms only, so no bend, so not affect other body. Well, the knee depends on the thigh the above leg, the above knee, so if the above knee is stronger then can use a weight vest with the rod, right?
You don't just feel Wick or Neo, you become them haha :) Go to mods ---------------- DeadEye (actually landing shots) NoBeat/Accuracy Mode (put on some 666 Mafia instead) Random Enemies (self-explanatory) Armored Enemies (so you can really get blasting) High Velocity Bullets (so you really gotta bob and weave)
