You are the only person putting out behind the scenes Pistons content. Not even the franchise gives access like this. Good on you. Shameful on the organization!
I agree but the fact is he's not going anywhere anytime soon so the best thing we could do is the players that Monty Williams likes and I think that is what Weaver tried to do at this deadline
I think two things with killian, for one they wanted to give killian every opportunity to prove himself instead of immediately starting others and two, I think playing him and if he played well enough at least he would be trade bait if sass proved to be better which he did but killian didn’t improve so the gamble didn’t work out. Oh well.
@@mowiley my thing is according a report by James Edwards III of the Atlantic we were going to trade Killian this summer for value. However Williams thought that he could do something with him and requested to keep him. This led to Williams starting Hayes and Williams stubborn refusal to admit that he was wrong about him. As a result we hold the record for single season losing streak and got absolutely nothing for Hayes because his own coach exposed him.
I see the plan and vision. He replaced 3 point shooting and no defense with 3 point shooting and defense with younger more athletic 3D wings. Which will create more floor spacing for Cade and Ivey and allow the core nucleus to play and grow together. Cade, Ivey, Duren, Ausar and Sasser. You add in Troy Brown Jr, Quentin Grimes, and Simone Fontecchio. You are about to see a completely different Pistons Team. I can see then winning 20 of their last 30 games. They are 5-7 in the last 12. And went from 29th to 4th in 3 point FG % and now have better 3 point shooters. They will be better defensively which will allow Ivey, Grimes, Brown, Cade and Duren to get out on the fastbreak and run. Troy Weaver has finally gotten 80% of the Pieces together. A suprise piece would be to bring back Drummond as the Back up Center. He is getting 20pts and 20rebs in Chicago. I can't wait to see the Energy these hard working Detroit type 3 D players are going to bring to team. Perimeter Defense and floor spacing with 3 point shooting. Fontecchio, Grimes, and TBJ. I will not be surprised if we win 20 of 30. Better Defense and Better offense. Ivey and Cade will be able to operate. Now, Ivey is displaying his much improved 3 point shooting. With the infusion of the 3D's, he won't miss 12 layups as he did last night. Play hard on both sides of the floor, minimize the Turn over's and share the basketball and the season is saved! If they play this way!
You can't be this delusional. Troy Weaver has no clue what he's doing when it comes to roster construction... acquiring talent Putting non shooters around Cade who also can't shoot has been his biggest crime yet he keeps drafting guys that can't shoot over n over n over. He just keeps making trades hoping and praying something works. He's as much a GM as the average fan
The part that really rubs me wrong is the very first part when he talks about why they failed at 3:21. I cannot stand when people blame bad performance on injuries and they lean on it. It is a TEAM
Did Troy Weaver believe that Killian Hayes was a good shooter when he drafted him? If he knew this was a weakness, what did Weaver provide to ensure that Killian's shooting developed to a quality NBA guard? When did Weaver reach the point where he felt Hayes was never going to fully develop offensively?
The team believed in his shot developing because he shot a decent free throw clip overseas - which is usually a good sign. But his shot mechanics were always broken. From his base to his release and he wasn't athletic or confident enough to be a threat any other level. Really a shame for us fans.
This man is MAGIC!!! You could give him the OKC Thunder, their picks and assets, and within 5 years... BAM!!! You'd have the Seattle Supersonics again.
Thanks for posting brad!! I'm stoked to see what Simome and Quentin can bring, ivy and duren looking like future Allstars, and if Ausar ever finds a shot watch out...DEEEETROIT BASKETBALL!!!
He’s stupid and so are the people who defend him. For his entire tenure, other than the draft, all he’s done is make bad cheap signings and trades only to undo them 1 or 2 years later. He has no idea what he’s doing
Not sure if this team has improved with the trades made. As far as Killian can’t argue the decision to release him. Weaver says that he never improved his shooting but doesn’t part of that reflect on player development 🤔 And I’m not saying the player doesn’t play a part in their development 🤷🏾♂️
@@Hilltop238 oh I didn’t know that there was a guarantee on these trades. I forgot Troy was 💯 on his previous trades/personnel moves. Probably why I stated “not sure” IMO.
I still believe in Troy Weaver as a scout. Sounds like Troy isn’t going anywhere for a while. We’ll just have to hope that the strengths of Troy Weaver (the scout) can overcome the weaknesses of Troy Weaver (the GM).
Love Weaver and Detroit is blessed to have that man. Unfortunately, Detroit got some of the most delusional and at the same time passionate fans out there. Some of us see this roster full of young budding stars and stand with Troy. Great job building this team Weaver. Guys a basketball genius and that will definitely show before long!
@500stoney Just my opinion. We have one of the best young rosters in the league, and the teams we have played lately have been saying as much. Not sure what you mean you over emotional as fan, but enlighten me.
I'm just an NBA fan who watches a lot of league pass. Thursday night's game was the first time that I watched more than a half of a quarter of Piston's basketball. I watched most of the game because I thought they were worth a look after they handled the Kings in their own gym. I was WOWED by the second half. My thoughts. Cunningham, Duren, and Ivy are as good if not better than the young three on the Rockets or Magic. Not watching much Piston's previously. I have one question. Is Cunningham the best of the trio? Ivy and Duren played an unbelievable second half in Portland. I always liked what little that I've seen of Cunningham because he showed leadership and responsibility beyond his years. My take on Monty Williams is that he is a character guy who likes to coach character guys. Hence his problems with Ayton. It appears to me that he was going along to get along with the hand that was dealt him. But it's good to see that the Pistons shipped out busts like Bagley, Knox, and Hayes who were only hurting developing a culture and an identity. Good move moving out Bogie and Burks as well as they are not at the stages in their careers where they can be part of a developing team. I think Grimes was a great get as Thibs is so structured that Grimes would never reach his potential in NY. Looking forward to watching them play the Clips. The Clips bandwagon may be a bit overhyped. I watched a good young team in the Pelicans take it to them the other night. It's a win for the Pistons if the game is competitive and they make the Clips earn whatever they get.
Wow this is like watching a root canal..I knew Weaver wasn't much for talking but had hoped that he at least could build a team..Sorry to say I have many doubts on that as well...
Made the types of moves he SHOULD have made during the off-season. Only now, these moves were made from a position of weakness. Admitted he received BETTER offers for Bogy before this season. "This is where we are now" is the response?!?. THEN using a two game sample as affirmation that his plan is working?!? Seriously? Regarding questions about Monte Williams: It would serve no purpose for Troy to criticize the coaching in spite of how baffling it has been. We sure will NEED that cap space. It will take MORE money to lure free agents to THIS franchise than maybe any other franchise.
Hang in there Troy I believe in your eye for talent !!! no gm is gonnna get everything right , and it’s Detroit for crying out loud we can only draft nooone will come there . I’m a Detroit fan in Illinois and I know this . Cade was drafted 3 yrs ago missed last year ivey drafted last year they haven’t even played and on top of the injuries piled up on this team more so than any team in the league . Getting duren was awesome, get ausar was awesome getting sasser awesome , getting stew also working out . What more do you guys want ?!!! BE PATIENT THEY ARE A YOUNG TEAM WITH A BRAND NEW HEAD COACH WHO DIDNT EVEN WANT TO COACH AT FIRST we won 17 games last year with a different coach . And we regressed with a new coach if there’s needs to be any blame pie passed around MONTY SHOULD GET THE BULK . Even with killian I see why you took him because if he would’ve developed a shot he would’ve been a great pickup . Because his assist to turnover ratio is good and his defense. He just didn’t pan out . But not everyone does
Man should could of woulda if my mom had a girl my name would b Kayla like Troy weaver is horrible like you said no one hits on all the draft picks ACCEPT Miami heat but Troy um um weaver horrible the good picks he , add was no brainier cade at 1 n Ivey at 5 all his picks in 2020 were horrible picks livers was horrible he should have been traded bobon and burks for 1st round picks All of their trades has been meh at best
It's clear that Gores killed Weavers vision for this team by hiring Monty Williams, he was clearly not the right fit for this team, no one should have to tell you to give Ivey more minutes and stop playing Killian so much, but I believe that Weaver made all these trades to try to help build a team that more fits Monty since it's obvious that Monty isn't going anywhere anytime soon.. Now I'm just waiting for Monty to start Quentin Grimes over Ivey 😂😂
@@hamzah1819 no it isn’t no gm is gonnna get everything right , and it’s Detroit for crying out loud we can only draft nooone will come there . I’m a Detroit fan in Illinois and I know this . Are you the right guy? What else he is suppose to say maybe something like, "Hell no I'm a hopeless incompetent and I should'nt be here..But hell if they gonna pay me..I'll cash the checks man"
134 ummms. On the low end. And why are these stooges thanking Troy for doing this? He has the worst team in the nba with no end in sight. And they’re thanking him for making an appearance ? Come on guys. Don’t be so submissive to this guy who should be fired.
Its no easy task navigating these things. We just want things to improve from now. Let's take it one step at a time. Troy is putting in the effort and doing what he can I believe things will get better going forward.
Troy Weaver is a bum. Get this clown away from the Pistons. He has no clue what he's doing Every year at this time he starts making silly trades with no meaning so clueless fans will say, "I see his vision" He's literally acquired and traded almost every players he's every come across I guarantee he's fired in the off-season if not it's only a matter of time b4 Cade request a trade or Weaver will, probably cut him because that's what he does with his lottery picks.
Can’t imagine trying to talk to weaver on the phone and him trying to articulate a conversation and trade. Uh, um, what ?! Speak up! But you say you talk to Monty all the time then how y’all both have killian starting over Ivey 1st half of the season, let alone had Ivey be the 11th man off the dam bench?! That alone tells the world yall don’t know what yall doing. Experts, fans and players think that was atrocious. Then just dropping Killian? You should know this in practice vs using actual games as tryouts. Horrible mgt. imagine the lions using this philosophy, clearly the difference btw a good staff who knows their players and this pistons staff who doesn’t , times have certainly changed.
Great content. Troy sounds like he is asleep. Honestly, I am not impressed by this off-season at all. Forced trades, which may provide some fruit. However, Troy even admits that we had better return last season. This is an indictment on him. Releasing Killian outright is also a failure. The proof will be in the pudding on the players that we pulled in, but not returning a 1st round pick out of all of this is definitely a disappointment.
Troy is horrible period no idea of how to put this team together bad trades horrible draft picks paid beef stew way to much hes a excuse maker and he shouldn't have his position here anymore ❤
