Well, they should be more honest and put equal blame on both dogs not one. A German Shepard packs a ferocious bite. German Shepards are used by the police and military for a reason. They are also used in prisons.
@@queennanna5595Alsatian’s are easily led, intimidated by their handlers,. Very often abused so when they get the opportunity they will attack whatever the occasion arises,. “Aka “just following orders”. We had 4 in our family never once did they attack,.bite nor be hostile to any baby,.child or anyone,.the Jack russel we had was a totally different story!😂

This couple is to be admired and thanked for telling their story and raising awareness about pitbulls. Also, thank you to this news team for truthful, factual reporting on this issue.
This guy seems to be the nicest person on the planet. His family is so lucky and blessed to have him today. Those crazy dogs could have killed him. I am so sick of this pit bull attacks
Losing a limb, at any age, is so devastating. The emotional and psychological pain, one endures daily, is a forever torment. Your whole life changed, 😢
I can’t stand pit bulls never have never will! one attacked my poor daughter when she was 3 years old for no reason at all!! And will now have a scar on her beautiful face for the rest of her life.
I am so sorry that happened, I just hope can get thru the emotional pain. It is hard, I was 37 years old when I was mauled by my cousin's pit bull. The stress of seeing pit bulls is thru the roof and I completely refuse to visit anyone who owns a pit bull.
I'm with you. Pitbulls are not to be trusted. Many years ago, a lady I our neighbourhood had he grandchild of 3 at her house. He two pitbulls attacked the poor baby and ripped her scalp clean off her head. She barely made it.
I am getting sick of this because these pit bull attacks just keeps on happening like a broken record. This very nice and kind man never deserved to have his life altered like this. He could have been killed that day last year but god spared him for a reason. There have been too many deaths within that last two weeks, one death in Torrance CA, Albany NY, San Antonio TX. Melrose Florida and Ashville Ohio. I am blaming the breed, the owners for underestimating the volatility of their dogs, I blame the animal shelter. And if you have ever visited an animal shelter over the last 20 years, you will find that they are overcrowded. Most of those dogs in the shelter are about 75% to 90% pit bull type dogs and they have no more room to take in more dogs. I am not finished, I also blame the back yard breeders and the pit bull lobby, who push the propaganda and lies about how safe pit bull type dogs are . The FACTS are that pit bull dogs make up 6% of the dog population, however pit bull type dogs are responsible for 68% of dog FATAL attacks on people.
Every year in the US 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs , 800 000 need medical care , over 5000 postal workers are bit every year , 15.55 % of bites are from strays not pets , Pit Bulls TYPES are responsible for 22.5% of bites across all studies (though often they are misidentified , people think anything with a squarish head is a Pit Bull) . Mixed breeds were a close second at 21.2% and German Shepherds were the third most dangerous breed, involved in 17.8% of bite incidents.⁶ Between 1979 -1998 fatal dog bites , Pit Bull TYPES 66 , Rottweiler 39 , German Shepherd 17 , Husky type 16 , Malamute 12 , Doberman 9 , Chow Chow 8 , Great Dane 7 , St Bernard 7 . Do you also blame and target all those breeds and owners ? Out of 4.5 million dog attacks a year less than 1 % are fatal . Instead of praising your imaginary so called "god" and giving "him" credit why dont you blame "him" for creating those breeds or for allowing the attacks to happen ? smdh

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. No one seems to have any solutions for this growing problem. I myself have been mauled by my cousin's pit bull. And as far as identifying pit bulls, many people deliberately mislabel pit bulls to get them out of the shelter, for getting house insurance, access to apartment living and to avoid being banned in certain cities and towns that have bans. That is why I use the term pit bull TYPE dogs and pit bull mixes, because they all fall under the same umbrella class of dogs. Which includes american pit bull terrier, american staffordshire terrier, staffordshire bull terrier, american bully, american bully XL and bully mixes.

Pit Bull advocates often want to cite breed statistics regarding bites. But the meaningful statistic is dog attacks that result in a human fatality - and Pit Bulls by far account for most of those.
This is a breed that should be stopped worldwide. And to those who claim pitbulls are loving, sure, lions are too, but they are unpredictable like any wild animal. This is a breed that was created by man for aggression. I applaud those countries that banned the breed.
I agree with you. I know for a fact how untrusting they are. They can be nice one moment and snap the next. I am sorry but I do not like the breed and never will. Sending prayers for healing. God Bless and I pray you walk again Mr. De Los Santos and get your truck ready to drive.
They are a hoard of advocates who will disown their own as "Bad owners" or even compare to little breeds, so many ridiculous things said to isolate some dogs out of the pit family and hate toward humans.
They need to make it illegal to breed these dogs. The shelters are full of dogs and cats. I swear 90% of the dogs have pit bull in them. It’s ridiculous!
@queennanna5595 except the German Shepherd wasn't eating his legs. According to the gentleman the German Shepherd was standing on his hind legs and he was hitting the Shepherd while the damage was being done by the Pit below EATING his legs. Not just biting, EATING.
Back in the 1970s it came up for vote whether or not to ban pit bulls in our county, and it didn't pass. It was very upsetting then and it only gets worse as time goes on. People who knowingly keep vicious dogs are vicious people who enjoy violence and human suffering. In San Antonio dogs are running loose all over town and the local animal control officials do nothing about it. In my town they can't run loose, but vicious people will often sic their vicious dogs on you just for walking past their house. Happens all the time. I'm convinced that in many of these attacks the dogs were deliberately set on some poor old person just for being there, on the sidewalk. I've experienced it myself.
I am an advocate against pit bulls. For fairness I have been through the wrong side of neighbors' mentality toward me, a threatening presence, who made rules that I should not be in my own yard; in the name of dogs being dogs they hated me. ... But I also have been compassionate when I saw light peer through a crack, trying to make friends with those dogs who had goodness in them to trust me a little and I gave one snack behind her owners' backs. It was a German Shepard and it's an amazing feeling to be in a dog's life.
@@danielschannel701 “it feels amazing to feed a dog and be its servant and for it to view me as a food source, i sure hate myself and want to be subservient to a pet”
I've seen a pitbull go from normal to agitated. His eyes legit went dark. It was like watching my cat die. I knew he was dead by his eyes. The way eyes change during switches in emotion is frightening yet fascinating. The eyes _are_ windows as they say. Anyway, pitbulls arent nanny dogs. They should be carefully monitored around others always. They were literally bred to take down large prey so some of that is still in their DNA. Don't f*ck with biology, people. ❤❤
HOW MANY MORE?! It’s every day with this breed and their owners! I’m so sick of them! Poor guy! He’s forever changed and will have to struggle. This could be your dad or grandfather!
It’s all dogs, pit bulls can be the sweetest most loving dogs. Sometimes it’s the people or usually it’s the people who ruined that dog that made that dog be like that. You should probably be looking at people and not the animal.
@@Ruby_2470 Wrong. Their breeding makes them time bombs. Shetland sheep dogs "herd" children and cats even though their lines haven't herded sheep for generations. There are many examples from the many dog breeds. You can talk all you want about how "sweet" pit bulls are but don't be surprised when yours rips off your grandchild's face.
I live at a complex and just yesterday I witnessed an owner let her pit bull off leash to chase white herons I’d been watching. They rarely visit. They flew off and onto the pool wooden arbor. I’ve been bitten by a loose dog. Now I get so angry about it. Who do these people think they are.
A pack of dogs that had been a problem before attacked a rural mail carrier. She made it to the hospital but died a day later from her wounds ! And the county did t have to pay !!! Unreal when it was reported before about these dogs and they did Nothing about it. Someone had to suffer a horrid death for them to get of there ass and do their job !!! Disgusting and very very disgraceful!!!!
My daughter brought a pit bull puppy home one day. He was treated like a love never mistreated. After a year, he suddenly bit my mom’s face and a 4 year olds face. Also attacked a neighbor. Eventually had to be put down.
It was a puppy so depending on how old it was it may have never had the chance to be trained before the daughter bought it home. There are so many reasons a dog can just turn one day. It can be because someone was taunting the dog at the time, poor training or lack of, previous owners and so on. Some breeders are even cross breading to get a new breed of dog and this can cause a lot of issues too
What a horrific experience this poor man was subjected to. These dogs were bred for bear baiting. Any owner who has one of these dogs should be required to have a special license with strict requirements for containment. I am a dog lover and have had many dogs during my lifetime. Never a pitbull. When I volunteered at a humane society the shelter got a call that three pit bulls took down a horse and ripped the face off the horse. Killed the animal. Not only has this man’s life been changed but also his wife will be his caretaker. Sad, sad, sad. My heart breaks for this family. The majority of owners of pit bulls want the animals for status and have no skills to train an animal properly and how to manage the breed. Most end up in shelters. Not fair to the animal of the general public.
I also volunteered at the animal shelter dealing with cats. However I noticed that the dog section was overcrowded with dogs. At least 70% to 90% of those dogs were pit bull type dogs or pit bull mixes. That should be an indication that something is wrong. Also the fact that pit bull type dogs are responsible for 68% of all fatal dog attack on people. And I found that information from multiple reputable sources.
Yes, it's ridiculous to live in fear for those less fortunate who have these beasts roaming the streets and yards masquerading the hate by owners toward other people.
That gentleman deserves all the help he can get. All of it. But favors bestowed by well-wishers, while sweet blessings of human kindness, cannot replace his legs or remove the psychic trauma that he has suffered.
What a precious couple. The gentleman is so stoic and full of grace. It's beyond unfair that he had the lose his legs because some selfish pit-nutter wanted to keep a couple of worthless monsters as thier pets. These things aren't pets. Michale Vic knew what they were and treated them accordingly. They belong to the underground criminal world, not in decent communities where innocent people are mauled and unalived.
They are a wonderful couple - so sorry this happened to them. They have a positive mental attitude, though, it will certainly help them get through this. wishing them the best of luck.❤🩹🙏🙏
Yes, many people love their pit bull dog. I wonder how many owners know how many other pit bull owners have been killed by their own “sweet” pit bull, one day, without any warning.
I just happened on here. I’m unfamiliar with this story. Such an amazing couple, sir you are so strong both physically and emotionally. Best wishes to both of you for a happy and healthy New Year to come. 👼🏼💐
God bless this wonderful man and his family. Might I suggest to the reporter that once you ask a question, be quiet and let him answer. It was frustrating that you would ask him a question and immediately provide your own answer to the question, before letting him answer.
A tough and positive man. I wish him and his family the very best for the future. I'm sick of hearing it's "not the breed. It's the owner". That is true to an extent. But when a Cocker Spaniel bites it won't kill or cause serious wounds. There are so many dog breeds and cross breeds to choose from. But these Knuckleheads all want the macho breeds.
I know what it is to receive compassion as someone with rage. Sometimes rage can be blinding and make you act out your emotions and lose sight when there's an internal conflict going on. These dogs have a genetic predisposition to take a bull down and makes it very likely difficult for them to regulate their understandings of good people with their own pack initiative when left with no pack leadership. It's very hard to trust someone who hurts another physically, that is more likely to overshadow the memories made together when you have to do what it takes to survive in a moment no one understands in one's own home. I feel sorry for this sort of dogs because they can be killing and later some will snap out of it like they can't comprehend what anger was controlling them into this. That's something they lack, it's comprehension because of the family they come from.
God Bless this man! He came right out and said the truth. We should be like so many Nations who have ban̈ned these monsters! All I hear is, " It's not the breed it's the owner ". Enough already! Why doesn't the media show each and every pb attack? This could have been prevented.
The pitbull can be kind, loving, etc, just like any other dog, but they are very, very few people are capable of being responsible owners. Even then, they are still very unpredictable, and will become aggressive at a drop of a hat. That is how they were bred to be, and we created that breed. Unfortunately, there are too many owners who have pitties for ego reasons, and shouldn’t be allowed to own a hampster, never mind a poorly trained pibull. That is why many countries have banned them.
And guns dont kill people or at least thats what they tell us. Its not the dogs fault the owner made them mean you're more likely to be a victim of violence by another human than a pitbull. I have both guns a pitbulls and neither has ever hurt anoutger soul.
I lost interest 1/3 in. Not that I don’t feel for this couple and this unfortunate man…god bless you. The way the story was presented was not enticing. Start with a short summary of what happened and then go into the interview. I’m left with not knowing anything.
I have a friend who has 4 pit bulls and swears by them and is ready to burn down any idea that’s against them. I understand that! And I agree, cuz I’ve snuggled and kissed many many pits and loved them deeply! True they are a more aggressive dog breed, but so is any dog breed!! Caution should be taken for any animal, cuz we as humans are evolving to become angrier, more aggressive and brutal fierceness, what is the food and water doing to them? Chemicals, plastics, and various other things are definitely changing our dispositions for the worst…it’s proven! This story is sad…but you are rising above it with grace…love you sweety💕
I would add to my story, that a friend of mine has the sweetest Pit Bull,....he's well behaved and very affectionate. He plays nice with their kids and their other pets.
