After spending a solid work day messing around getting this wrong using all the right math, and then hours on RU-vid looking for someone with the answers I was looking for, finally here I am watching your video. Honestly, I'm glad I had this so twisted because now I will never forget what right looks like. I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow and looking like a dang super star. Thanks!!!
Hey mate. I love the video, easy to understand, Thanks! What program did you use to draw those diagrams? I would like to drawer out some stuff like this.
This is just a power point that I have used so I could flick through while recording. On other videos I have used Sketchup free. That might be better for computer modelling.
So, if I'm in a roof and want to figure out the rise where do I put my tape measure? The X Y line? or the underside of the ceiling joist? Then where do I measure vertically up to? The Apex?
If you are trying to match an existing structure then hold a level against the roof at one end, then measure how high the level is at the other. Then you can calculate the angle.
Hello mate I’m building a little porch tomorrow and need to work out my top ledger to attach my rafters to my wall plate how do I work out how high the rise is for me to put the ledger at with it being 40°
What calculator are you using because my Samsung calculator gives me 166.6666666667 when I divide 5000mm by 30 degrees? Am not good in mathematics and I find calculating the pitch of a roof as one hell of mathematical conundrum that has outstretched my foraging mechanisms.
Samsungs work differently to other calculators. You may have to put brackets in the right places to get it working. You can also use a triangle solving app. Trigsolver or something similar are very easy to use.
Normally a set of house plans will give you the pitch. If you are trying to match something existing and you don’t know the pitch then you can get a height measurement and work out the pitch from that. Watch the video from the 10 minute mark for the formula.
I use a calculator most of the time. Yes from bird's mouth to ridge is 5.773 m. ( Less half the ridge) Rise = 2.885 2.885 / 5 = 0.577 INV ARC (tangent) 0.577= 30° Love mathematics!
Simple but difficult for some of us . I want you to help us without using calculator, how to find the height of a roof when the pitch angle is only given
4ft is your "run". The difference in height is 1ft, this is your "rise". watch this video from the 8 minute mark. Hope this helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z3zWsAzvNng.html
