www.ugoprobaseball.com Pitching Mechanics - Arm Path at Hand Separation. Watch my video on pitching mechanics and the arm path that happens at hand separation. When your hands break in the pitching mechanics, your arms should travel on an angle, and not straight toward the target. What are your thoughts on the arm path at hand separation in pitching mechanics?

Yes, you are correct, but early on in his career he would fly open with the front glove (but he kept his front shoulder in). Now, however, it seems that he has been working on that and I just saw him pitch the other day and he hit that spot that I'm talking about and his front glove doesn't fly open anymore. So he made some good adjustments.

I have considered it. If I did make this video, what would you like to hear about it? Thanks.

great vid, did you ever consider making a vid talking about pitching from the wind up vs. pitching from the stretch?

well one of the main things I always wondered was why not just pitch from the stretch all the time instead of having to worry about the mechanics of the windup and the stretch. i know some relievers are always in the stretch but why not starters too? also what ever other insight and tips you have would also be helpful.

do you have anything on hooking the rubber like clayton kershaw does?.gives the same effect as your power pitcher device. did you hook or split the rubber?.

I don't recommend the way he does it. That's like the second example I show, but he (Cole) doesn't get stuck in the inverted W at foot plant. It works for him and a few others. For younger guys though, this may cause them to open up if they're not perfect with tucking the glove in.

Hey coach was wondering when I throw I have the same kinda motion I show my number but my glove hand when I un coil it points at the target for a second than when I go to release the glove hand dips down any reason why and how would I fix this?

Ques about arm path. Should the arm be less than 90 degrees in its wind up? That seems to creat less tension than if at 90 or more. So for ex if at 45 before it is open whipped forward seems more natural. Am I thinking about it right?

Once I got to college, I was always from the stretch. No wind up.

My son, Carter is nine-years-old and has a good arm. I'm teaching him to pitch from the stretch and some of the "know it all" crowd are telling us "you must" learn the wind up, too. Thanks John, I'll keep the stretch motion for now. However, if/when we do work on wind up, what age do you recommend? P.S. You have a great motion and really seem to know your stuff. Sorry so many "experts" like to debate you.

Well, if you are doing something right, I'm hoping you see better results than if you are doing something wrong, right?

John I am confused with your approach. My son leads with elbow and creates torque when he comes over. You way is going to cause many pitchers to fly open and put even more strain on the shoulder due to them never torquing.

Hey John I've been a victim of using the first mechanics that you showed (not the inverted w) my question is what's wrong with those mechanics because they work pretty well for me and I also get some pretty good movement on my fastball using those mechanics
@YouGoPro
@YouGoPro 9 лет назад
You will never be able to throw as fast as you're able to with that arm path because you don't put yourself in a good position to create hip to shoulder separation.
