Pitching my Tarp in Spruce Fir Forest on Mount Sterling 

I pitch my tarp for camping in this beautiful spruce fir forest on top of a windswept mountain in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. I get it pitched just before a storm hits.
Here under the spruce tree you can feel the peace and smell the pungent fir needles as the mist blows over the mountain. As I pitch the tarp and unload my gear I talk about what it's like to camp in an open tarp, including how my barefoot sandals worked.
