Ovechkin reminds me of Teemu Selanne when he debut in 92' shattering HNL records in his rookie season in Winnepeg, but didn't won a Stanley Cup until he played for the Ducks in 2007 co'z he got a lot of support from other players as well.

We've used the second-most D-men in the league (Buff, Enstrom, Bogosian, Stuart, Oduya, Hainsey, Meech, Jones, Postma, Festerling, Kulda, Flood), and we've been primarily AHL players....Jaffray and Klingberg were up for a while, as well as Cormier, Machacek, and Gagnon. On top of that....who's on top of the AHL despite all these callups? Yeah, the St. John's IceCaps. And I have AHL season tickets to WBS, so I would know more than you. Typical bandwagoner.

true that its more about the passion of the fans. the other reason for the team name is carol mcgregor, wife of the team investor, wanted them to be the penguins cause of the alliteration and she wanted to see white and black on the ice. Ironically the team was so poor to start out they used the hornets colors which were blue. Another name that was in question for the club was shamrocks which i personally would of loved
Hahahaha. What? First off, cups are what matter and that's truly it. 8 conference champions ships and 2 cups to show for it? In the end, you've shown that Philly has had more chances to go on but couldn't capitalize. And if the present is all that matters, which is stupid to say about in any major sports league, than the Flyers' two cups don't mean anything then by your estimation since they are all in the past. 1990-2012 is much more closer to the present than 1975 and before.
well if you want to talk numbers, pens won one more cup then the flyers since being introduced to the nhl in 67. but yet flyers hold 16 division championships and pens hold 6. flyers hold 8 conference championships and pens have 4. you can talk past numbers all day long. the present matters more and this season we went further with a newer team. most flyers are new-comers. most pens have had the same team makes for a few years now...... -__-

@beefcakes42 No. When the Pens went into bankruptcy, they still had very good attendance. They weren't selling out every single game, but the attendance issues didn't really start until after they traded Jagr (which was in 2002). The year they traded Jagr was the first year they missed the playoffs since the '89-'90 season. They did have to trade him (and Kovalev and Lang) for financial reasons though. That was the beginning of the player and financial rebuilding, and it worked out fine.

@Sinsemilla4u hmmm lets see, yes, it all started earlier than this when it was a big issue, but the pens were constantly out of the playoffs, owners had cash flow issues and then like 9 or 10 years later a similar thing happend during the 07/08 season when the owners wanted to sell the franchize, then the lemieux group decided to keep it. so yes i have a clue. would you like to ask another "question of the day"??

Agree about the music. And I would agree with you about them being a low budget shitty team, if you were not totally wrong. They don't have ALL of the best players in the NHL, but as a unit, they are fantastic. One of the best for sure. Why are you trying to pick arguments on RU-vid anyway? And learn to spell. FYI a complete player must know how to pass not only "shoot". I don't think a superstar can win a stanley cup without a passing ability like Ovechkin. This hall of famers and future hall of famers such as Greztsky, Messier, Forsberg, Yzerman, Lemieux won the Stanley cup because they can do both shoot and pass the puck. I consider Malkin and Crosby are much better than Ovechkin because they are complete package, which Pens are grateful to have them both. I sense a dynasty coming in the future..
oh and by the way, ovechkin- while i admit he's incredible- is a PUCK HOG. in the series it was all ovechkin on the caps' side when we had players other than malkin/crosby making goals. game 7 was a flat out team victory. fleury minded the net, our defense picked away at the wings, superstar lived up to his name, and our boys did it WITHOUT their captain. excuse me but last time i checked THAT is a team win.
Dude imagine the odds on Penguins winning this cup. Only one team has ever won on the road in Game 7 not even a hockey team.. it's the Pittsburgh Pirates of 79'..Red Wings is 11-1 in Joe Louis arena..I consider the Pens are the road warriors..down 0-2 on Caps and Wings and both game 7 on the road..end of the story, that's too bad your Caps choke in final game better luck next time.
doesn`t matter what logo you have on your jersey. what matters is the passion and the fans. logos can be anything. the reason our team was named the Penguins was because the Mellon Arena, or the Civic Arena at the time, was nicknamed "the igloo" because it resembled one. i`ll cut you some slack. i just don`t like the color orange. that`s just me.
Look at all these Caps fans screaming FLYERS SUCK and PENS SUCK! I hate the Flyers and all, but PA is gonna band together and stomp all over you. I don't remember the Caps getting past the second round in a long time. The last 3 years, its been a Pennsylvania Stanley Cup. As a Pens fan, I cringe at saying this... It's either going to be the Pens or... Flyers who win it all.
