You're so lucky!!! I was at every home game except the finals. Could never find student rush tickets.. I tried for hours.. could you imagine if we won at home in 2016??!?!
Watching this makes me realize how much I miss the 2015-16 and 2016-17 runs and how much I miss Kessel, Kunitz, Flower, Bonino, Hagelin, and now Hornqvist and likely soon to be Matt Murray 😭
Man as penguin fans we were SPOILED rotten from 2015-2017, watching this video brings back so many memories!! I knew after Kunitz's double OT goal there was no stopping us that year! I remember telling myself if the pens go back to back I'll never ask for anything more from them for a loooong long time!!!!!
That Kunitz 2OT goal is my favorite goal, and perhaps favorite play in Penguins history. So much tension, so much on the line, and what a release when that was scored. Fleury's save at the end of game 7 in '09 is right up there too.
I didn't sit from the Sens tying goal up until the pens were on the rush to win. I sat down, looked away at something as my mom is standing up yelling at the TV 😂 good memories
I remember watching this game live at a bar I was the only one in a Pens jersey. I live down south where hockey isn't too popular, but the way I was getting into the game the rest of the TV's in the bar got changed to that Pens vs Sens game because others wanted to see the action. Strangers were actually congratulating me lol. And I just told them there is nothing like playoff hockey. The game moves so fast anything can happen in an instant. Some people walked out of there hockey fans that day. Maybe made them Penguins fans too.
@@atlaslogan750 dislike purely because i live in Chicago and have to deal with the casual fans who have no clue about hockey other than they root for the hawks lol
still think he should have given it to flower....such a huge part of the era and lost his job in 16 due to injury then in 17 was the main reason they beat the caps. Plus everyone knew he was gone after that year.
Five Stanley Cups raised....all on road ice. I AM grateful to have a team that's been this successful in the modern era, but it's a little bittersweet to never see it in person.
I was at the home clincher against the sharks in 16 with like 20k fans outside....only for then pens to get destroyed. Still id rather win 5 on the road then 1 or 2 at home.
As a non-Pens fan looking back I'm glad i got to witness the two cup winning teams. At the time i disliked them (jealousy mostly) but what a great run that was. I'm so happy this core gets to retire with multiple cups. Hope you guys get good again soon
The Series between Pittsburgh and Ottawa was one of the best I've ever watched. That was the real cup final that year. That Sens team was just so good. 1:25 I still miss Duper
Thanks! The B's have had some incredible runs too. I love playoff hockey, nothing like it especially OT. Even if Pens loose first round i still follow all the way to the cup
my sister-in-law is from Boston originally and therefor knows a ton of Bruins fans.....they done love Pittsburgh fans lol Still mad for stealing the black and gold thing maybe?
Kunitz's Triple OT winner was just amazing. I'm firmly in Columbus territory, and I actually had one of my neighbors tell me that they heard my family all yelling and celebrating, through CLOSED WINDOWS! The things that hockey makes us do.
I've never forget number 4. I'm from Australia so the games fell either during the day or very early in the morning. Game 7 was in the middle of class and when Kunitz scored I nearly broke the table I was sitting at, completely outted that I was watching NHL to my teacher and yet she didn't care so I got away with it me and another guy in the class were going nuts. Great memories. I need to get out there to watch a game sometime 🐧🐧🐧💛💛💛
Do a lot of people like the nhl in Australia? That’s so cool man. I was in class watching the Australian open last year when Federer beat Millman and I was goin nuts and my teacher was like I’ve never seen somebody go this crazy over tennis 😂
@@maryconn1 it's a small group of us there's like 5 guys I know who watch it, me and my mate try watch it as religiously as we can but it's pretty hard cause there's very few ways to get access to all the games, it's either the league pass, streams or whatever games ESPN actually shows. NFL is becoming alot more popular here though for sure
idk why but crosby's OT winner against the lightning will always stay in my mind. I've never been able to unsee the static or whatever it is in the camera that makes it look like film grain when he scores and the crowd erupts. Makes it feel ten times more epic
I was at Roy's By the Tracks in Finleyville, PA watching with some buddies. We call it the "Coffee Game" because people stopped ordering beer at the start of the second overtime and switched to coffee.
I was in a bar in New Orleans when Kunitz lit the lamp against the Sens. That was the single most explosively jubilant hockey moment of my life even though it was only to get to the final. I've seen all five Cups, but to win it like that on home ice was better than any of the clinchers on the road in the finals. Simply unbelievable. I ran around that bar like a maniac and I was the only Pens fan there. Everyone could not believe the intensity of my celebration. Let's eliminate the Rangers tonight, LETS GO PENS!
That bullet of a shot by Kunitz is in my top five Pens memories. He had so.much heat on it. Even in slow motion it was hard to track that puck when it went in. Miss that guy! Awesome player for the Pens!
That Senators team I'll always respect, the level of fight they've put up was unbelievable. Everytime I thought it was over they refused to go down, it took some weird knuckler in double ot to finally beat them.
@@zanelevy4736 your jumping around with the boys maybe the slightly overweight friend falls over and unluckily your leg is his pillow then “snap” broken leg
I grew up playing with Bryan rust. Seriously no kidding me and him always competed for most points every season. Good for him for sticking with it, wish I would've
As a Bolts fans, they taught TB what it takes to go B2B. Vasy was the backup in that Game 7, too. Big building block moment in what was an excellent series.
The back to back cups wins are fantastic... but out of the entire decade... only ONE out of the entire list of 10 is outside of the two cup wins from 16 and 17? U don’t even have “the save” from 09. U don’t even have crosby and ovi both getting hat tricks. U don’t have us winning our outdoor game in 2016 which lead to our current alt jerseys. How about malkins amazing spin o Rama goal? Maybe the shootout game with the rangers that we lost, then got called back on the ice and won. So many great memories from this past decade. I know cup wins are very memorable, but I feel like I’ve seen every single one of these games a billion times and there’s so many other amazing penguins memories that are gonna fade away in a lot of peoples heads if people don’t start posting them somewhere
while i agree that there were many great moments that shouldve been on here instead, "the save" was, like you said, in 09. wrong decade. still tho, youre right
McSkeetah TheCheetoCheetah that’s true I don’t know what I was thinking, 2009 is another decade it doesn’t count. But there’s definitely some amazing plays from 2010-2015 that could of been on here lol
Aiden Duryba what an extremely easy ridiculous cop out type answer for you to say, especially for someone who didn’t even make the video. It was a suggestion. Take the sand out of your buttcrack
All of these moments are unbelievably great! I was born and raised a fan of all of Pittsburgh's pro sports teams so needless to say I thoroughly enjoy these moments
I know it frustating getting out 4 Seasons in a row in first round, but it's been 16 years we been clinching, 3 cups, please appreciate what we had and stop hating, we've been realy lucky to have this team as it is
This is what I recommend to those Penguin fans who need reminding how lucky we've been to witness a mini dynasty in between '09 and '17 and not too far away from making that again in '18 if not for the eventual Cup winning Caps..so many clubs who haven't won a Cup and so many who have had decades between playoff success..Love ya Pens! Lets do it one more time! LETS GO PENS LETS GO PENS
From the future and after four straight First Round exits, I'm grateful knowing I lived through the Sid Era with pride. I'm also certain that we will not be far removed from another cup. Go Pens.
I remember watching hornquvst put in that goal with a minute left and wow in the moment I was so spoiled it almost felt normal to win the cup at that time and how good the pens were it never really kicked in till about now on how good they were and how spoiled we were.
Of all the success the penguins have had since Crosby has entered the league. I still wish that we could have beat the living snot out of the Red Wings in '08 & ran it back in '09. I hope there's some magic left and we get to see one more cup come back to Pittsburgh before Sid hangs it up. It's bittersweet as Sid heads to retirement I know I'm aging too Bec we're the same age 🤣🤣🤣.
The Kunitz double OT game 7 goal has to be number 1. I was at that game and that was the first time Consol Energy Center was as loud as the Igloo playoffs. It was deafening inside and the mayhem in the streets as we all poured out was electric. Easy number 1 for me.
