Keep going, be smart about it, but keep going. Everyone used to talk about the telephone like it was a fancy gimmick and wouldn’t have any practical applications, they said the same for cars, and the wright brothers flying machines. They made history by daring to be creative and invent what we take for granted on a daily basis today. Keep going

I got exited when I saw this vehicle first, a few years back. What is the reason this is not yet on the market? is there any technical issues? Frankly, there would be a lot of people that would be buying it as it is.

I would like a 300 lb load capacity and autonomous or remote control modes so I can shuttle people or cargo from boat to shore and boat to boat. Perhaps with small wheels the vehicle can get more use out of those wings for lift during take of and landing. If helicopters can use a rolling start, why not the blackfly? Also wondering if toroidal propellers have been considered?

This is a part 103 Ultralight. In the foreseeable future there will be no such thing. A “pilot” of one of these things has some understanding of the risks involved, but passengers generally don’t. Remote control, I could maybe see, but only sans passenger. Fully autonomous passenger flight is a whole different realm of regulatory mess that needs to get worked out. Just a matter of time though.

Make this concept into a drone with four motors and you'll sell heaps of them. Would also be great PR for the ultralight version. This is just too strange to convince people otherwise. It's basically a strange quadcopter and a strange biplane in one, but people are just too easily confused and don't understand how it actually works. Make a drone along the very same lines and people will get it immediately, just because they can buy and try it and will see it flying much more often. You could make an absolute hit out of that with a drone for $999 or so. You could probably even sell it to the military for good money. It has good range (due to efficient flight with wings) and still can liftoff/land vertically and hover. And all of this without having to move wings or rotors. It's an ingenious concept and trying to sell it just as an ultralight airplane is absolutely silly. They're limiting themselves to a niche market with that. The drone market is orders of magnitudes bigger and it would work as a drone just as well.

@Mike-01234
@Mike-01234 Год назад
It's made to float in the water so they could get an increase in weight limit for ultralight part. 103. The middle is like a boat. Part 103 allows for 254 lbs limit not to count the floats. I'm assuming the thing weighs lot more then 254 lbs. empty.
