Pixel 6a is still a great budget phone this 2024. Would wait a little bit more for special discounts for pixel8a or atleast use your 6a until it runs out of android version updates 😁
I had the pixel 4a 5g for over 3 years. I finally upgraded to the 7a last year. I had almost gotten the 6a , but I'm glad I waited for the 7a. At this point I think it is a good idea to hold out for the pixel 9.
I've been using my 6a and funny enough some reviewers say that it's the most glitchiest phone there is and I'm over here like, "ya think!?" Like text vibration turns off by itself, battery life sucks ahh, apps UI glitches, slows down for no reason, and it's plain old annoying in the ahhole
I don't mean to sound rude, but I think your energy levels in other videos is much nicer as it feels more calm, while this video has talking manners better suited for short form content
The video make it sound like you can't do payments / app sign ins with biometrics on the 6a but you can. It has an under screen fingerprint scanner. I know they've added face unlock to the 8a but biometrics do exist on the 6a.
Rocking my 6a from the very first release date and its still doing fine, exceptional camera quality, never lags or hang but battery is so so and completed 546 cycles. IMO no need to upgrade for at least one year 🙏🏽
Wait, people should upgrade from 6a to 8a because it has 7 years of OS updates? What in the world does that person will do with 7 years of promises if they can't even keep a phone that's 2 years old and still has got another update left?
@@vjndr32 the 7 years of updates isn't meant for one person to use up, it means many users of a single phone, since it will most definetly be sold around multiple times during 7 years, will still receive updates
Some people keeps their phones till they begin to be slow or they are broken. I switch this year (2024) from pixel 3 to pixel 6a; bought the pixel 3 in 2020 (second hand). So 4 year of use in my hand and another 1-2 from the previous owner. So, i don't believe your statement is 100% correct. Even if you don't use it more than 2 years, i believe that you are not throwing it to the bin. Either you sell it, give as a gift to a family member or keep for your pixel collection
I'll be keeping my Pixel 6a for the foreseeable future. I have been getting good battery life on my 6a. I've been averaging 3.5 to 4 hours of screen on time a day and ending the day around 45-50% battery remaining and that is with a lot of music streaming while the screen is off. I've been playing Elder Scrolls: Blades a lot and haven't had any heating issues.
3.5 to 4 is pretty light usage imo and for you the 6a is perfect, when I had it I always ended the day with 10 to 15 percent battery (sometimes turning off before I can plug it in), I had like 6-7 hours of sot, I hav the 8 now and end the day with 20-25 percent of battery so not that much better but never turning off before I plug it in for the night before sleeping.
I was planning to keep my 6a until the end of the year but I broke it a second time around. I got a 7a as a replacement coz they're now cheaper since the 8a launch.
@@sriramramesh8203 I can definitely see where you're coming from. 4 hours SOT would actually be a pretty heavy day for me. I'm a machinist and work 12 hour shifts. During work hours my phone is primarily streaming music.

Now THIS was the video I was waiting for and wanting. I did wish you compared a little more (such as fingerprint recognition responsiveness on each) but good enough video. As tempting as it is, I'm gonna probably hold off for now. My 6a still rocks and doesn't struggle with anything that I currently do. I don't game on my phone, so I could care less. As long as apps don't bog down the phone. Maybe I'll just get the Pixel Watch 2 instead of a new phone.
I got my wife the pixel watch 2 for this past Christmas and she thinks it is awesome. She's a big Fitbit user and she says it's way more accurate than any of her regular Fitbit bands were and the sound quality and screen quality she really likes.
I think you're smart holding off if you're 6a is still in good condition doing all it needs to, once it's NOT anymore something NEW will come out with more upgrades you'll either appreciate or just be glad you waited lol the pixel W2 is freaking awesome btw!
I’m still on the 3a. Been holding out for foldables to mature a bit more. Will either be upgrading to the Pixel Fold 2 this year if it’s compelling enough, or alternatively a Pixel 9.
My father and brother use pixel 6a. It's a good phone but the cellular problems are on another level. Are there any significant improvements in the 8 series regarding this?
The G3 enables biometrics for app sign-ins and payments??? Biometric authentication for 3rd party apps & Google Wallet payments is NOT exclusive to the G3. Hell it's not even exclusive to the Tensor silicon family.
Worried, still, about the heating issue! I had the 4a and now I am using a 7a. Even a 20 minute video call heats the phone up! Plastic body traps the heat inside. Feels too soon to upgrade, but after a long term review, might reconsider. Thank you for the comparison though!
6a looks better. The 2-tone finish and confident square angels look so slick. Honestly the 6 series is peak Google design. Save for the nicer matte finish of the 8.
Hey man great video! Also quick question I was curious to know if orange was your favorite color? You see. To wear and own alot of things with it. If so I think that's really cool since orange is also my favorite color. It's not very common though.
I think the A series is really great for the price compared to the main line pixels. My wife , among other family members, use main line pixels, but I've always gone with the A series and have never been let down.
love the 6a but my unit failed me within 6 months of use, motherboard issue at a critical moment of my life. Also the feature of call screening wasn't available in my country and beats the purpose of me buying the phone where a feature is region locked. Bought a beat up used a52s and it served so much better till today.
Upgraded from a 7 and am very happy with finally being able to use face unlock and fingerprint unlock and not just the pattern which is all that was reliable on the 7. On the downside, the bezels are big and the screen is a little smaller. Overall, very happy with my purchase.
- 1 year upgrade is nonsense - 2 years upgrade is flexing - 3 years upgrade is reasonable - 4 years upgrade is a stretch - 5+ years upgrade is if you just can't Agree? Of course I'm on a 3 years cycle (since 2009), I should be upgrading this year but I've just replaced my battery and I'll stretch one more year.

@@enfantterrible4868 My parents and partner aren't. They aren't gadget geeks like us. So not having to upgrade their hardware for 5+ years while still getting new features is a dream.
the 6a's glossy back is the worst part of that device, that thing collects finger prints and micro-scratches like pokemon cards. my 6a despite having a case had so many micro scratches purely from the bits of dust that would occasionally get in. thankfully have a pixel 8 now which is much better.
I used to swear by Samsung phones. Hated forking out $800+ for a phone. I made that jump a few years ago now from s21 to the 6a and have fallen in love with the pixel series. I've had my 6a for awhile now and am upgrading to the 8a and gifting my 6a to my grandmother.
You should update to a new device ASAP. The device hasn't received a proper security update since August 2023 and is stuck on the August release of 13-QPR3. The device can't be considered secure anymore to use in production.
I'll keep my pixel 6a an little bit longer I don't see improvement in the phone besides the performance and AI in which I really don't use in AI besides to take photos.
I wish Google would adopt/purchase the T-Mobile Sidekick from T-Mobile & transform that phone into a Pixel device!!! I would be the HAPPIEST person alive!!! I hate Samsung dropped the ball on that device. Someone please get this to Sundar Pichai FAST!!!!
