Pixel 9 Pro XL Full Review: The Pixel We’ve Been Waiting For! 

My wife, a life long iPhone user just switched to the P9P Fold. She's loving it so far.

Great review as always, Adam. I switched to the Pixel 9 Pro in Porcelain from an S23 Ultra and an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and it’s the best phone I’ve used in years. It’s amazing! The criticisms of the Pixel 9 series seem exaggerated at this point, and the differences in performance benchmarks are negligible. It’s a great phone, and I love it a lot!

I just picked up my 9 pro XL earlier this week and loving it . I'm coming from a iPhone 13 pro but not new to Android

I'm just glad I pre-ordered early enough for the 512gb from T-Mobile for $1000, and with my Pixel 8 Pro trade-in promo, I pay nothing extra on my bill for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. They weren't lying when they said it would be free.

I have used a pixel since the early days and i must admit this is their best Pixel phone yet. My previous all time favorite was rhe Pixel 4 XL.

Just up upgraded to the Pixel pro 9xl from Samsung s23 I'm very impressed it's a beast. I was concerned it wouldn't live up to the expectations. But it smashed it. Keep up the good work. More Pixel videos please

Had my Pixel 9 Pro XL in hazel a little over a week now and I'm loving it, switched from a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and before that I was an Apple user, this is by far the best phone I've ever had.

Standard 9 series here and zero complaints. Great phone upgraded from the 8 the difference was worth while.

I'm finally happy with Pixel again. Have bought every XL/Pro but haven't been happy since the 2 XL.

I also visited the Berlin Zoo. I have the PX9 without a telephoto lens and I have nothing but praise for a camera that holds its own in almost all situations except for the stability of night video and digital zoom. The selfie quality is a total surprise. Thanks for recommending an excellent video.

I like how you get straight to the point. I'd suggest branching out and focusing on how to make better use of our phone's features. And I really enjoy your overview of where we are and how we got there. This is important to understand how to upgrade without going into too much debt .

My husband has the 15 pro max for a business phone. He recently bought the p9pxl, he's using it as a primary phone, and hasn't had the urge to even use his iPhone. The 16 was just released and I was as disappointed as ever. I don't think apple can really make anything else anymore, or they just don't want to listen to their customers. I am sticking to my p9pxl as well, I love this phone. Her 5g+ in areas in didn't with my iphone.

Haven't had a Pixel phone since the 6.... Can't wait for my 9 Pro to be shipped.

Great video! I'm extremely satisfied with this phone so far. As for the benchmarks... Anyone claiming that this phone is slow obviously hasn't actually used it. I've had it for almost a week and haven't experienced a single stutter. Anyway, keep up the awesome work!

Hey, how do you feel about that? They broke their own pixel stand and pulled it off the market because of where they put the coil for the wireless charger for the nine and the nine fold

More pixel content, and how Pixel devices work together i.e. Watch, Earbuds, Tablet along with other Chromebook / Windows / Mac integration for messaging.

I am gonna say, the under display fingerprint scanner will hopefully be better than the 6 or 7. I miss the fingerprint scanner that was on the back. They should bring that back. I use my old pixel 3 as a remote for my Roku and man that fingerprint scanner works so good

Oh man if the pixel 9 is doing this well. Imagine the TSMC Pixel 10 definitely keeping my eye out for that.

For the Pixel fan, one of the biggest takeaways should be that Google is making some clear progress year over year with their phones even though in some areas like charging speeds that progress is slower than others but I kinda don't blame them there too much since they are trying to play the long game with these phones being supported for 7 years so they wanna extend that battery longevity as much as possible. Would be nice if they incorporated a true ToF sensor like Apple has to allow for Face ID even when it's dark out but at least the new Ultrasonic Fingerprint reader doesn't shine a bright light anymore so that's a plus.

I've got the 9 Pro XL now. I really can't pinpoint what it is about this phone but it feels so premium and well done. Google has finally done it. The camera, the software experience, the beautifully designed hardware, the battery life, etc. This phone is not only my favorite Pixel of all time but also my favorite phone I've ever owned. I 100% agree that it's a pleasure to use🔥

I only have 2 problems with this phone. No UFS 4.0 and no Log video recording. Anyway, I pre-ordered the small 9 Pro, still waiting for it to arrive.

So I been an iPhone user since the release of the very first iPhone 2007. I bought the Pixel Pro 9 XL and used it from launch to yesterday, Sep 8th. While I do think the phone is very good I gave up and returned it. I missed iMessage, FaceTime, airdrop and how easy I was able to just transition from my laptop, watch etc I’m just to invested in apple’s ecosystem. I did like the phone just missed certain things.

I like a big screen. So I bought the XL. I'm really happy with this phone. It just seems all around smoother to me. Is it perfect? No. I bought the 256 version because I just don't think 128 cuts it anymore. But other than that I have no real complaints with a Pixel phone. Ok wait, hopefully they can improve portrait mode with some tweeks. 😊

Talking of storage, just watched the 'MrWhoseTheBoss' video on the new iPhone 16s, and even though they can now video record at 4K 120Hz... Base model IS STILL 128Gb at that silly price... 😒 Even 30 seconds at that recording level is going to be a HUGE file (UP TO 45 Gb!)...

Hey tech Odyssey, can you do a battery check on the pixel 8 Pro!? I don't know why but my battery life with screen time has jumped up to 9 to 10 hours. Maybe it was due to the last update that happened within the last week maybe?

It's really a great phone the only issues I've had is with the Ai It's wildly inaccurate sometimes.

One of the things I like better about Samsung phones are that they offer themeing options. But part of me wishes I could try it. Considering the price I just can't consider it because of the limitations.

I’ve found in the past that if you register the same fingerprint twice (as two separate fingerprints) it seems to work better

My years in Germany, they were still divided. I only made Berlin once, its a nice city. I hope the 9 is better than my 8pro. This thing isn't as good, I think, as my old 7pro and 6pro. I wish I hadn't killed those phones prematurely ;-). Who knows, if I get a decent trade and find a sale, I just might get a foldable.

I switched back to my s21U from the 13pro max and I realized now how much I miss the back button lol especially when typing on certain websites just makes it so easy to hide the keyboard or return to a previous page. I was going to buy the fold but now I'm thinking I'll wait to see the new iPhone and if not it's looking like the fold z6 😮

One thing I don’t like with the pixel line is the face unlock in very low light. My iPhone 12 still unlocks even in dark

how many mp did you do the tests with, 12mp or 50 mp? I have the 8 pro myself, if I set it to 50 MP the photos are taken with a delay. then a dot appears in the middle that you have to keep central and still, because if I move the photo is not sharp. So you sometimes miss moments that you just want to photograph. Is this also the case with the 9 pro/xl? Is Google aware that this is a major negative point? Samsung 24 Ultra and iPhone would not have this, they take the moment when you click. Have you also experienced this? because if your child does something, for example, you are too late if you want a quality photo. best photon also only works with 12 mp not with 50 mp. I’m actually looking to switch to the Pixel 9 pro XL due to the same issues worn my iPhone 15 pro max (as well as just bored/tired of iOS being so stagnant). I think this is the worst battery I’ve had on an iPhone as well as worst cell signal.

Which phone do you prefer out of this and the Xperia?

This phone feels like a stop gap before they bring all the biggest features with the Pixel 10, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I've just ordered the Pixel 9 Pro 😀, the UK deal of "free" 256gb upgrade has expired 😢, but the Samsung A33 is now on the trade-in list 😀. Pony'd up for 256gb upgrade, so the marketing guys have won. Pretty sure the engineers said a Pro model should start with 256gb 😂. Phone won't be here until early October, so it gives Google time to upgrade to UFS 4 😂. Which lightweight, grippy case do you recommend ? Appreciate your honest, hands-on reviews 🙂

I like Pixels. The only issue I had was those hour plus software updates. That was the main reason I went back to Samsung. After using Pixels for a couple of years the s23plus felt like a futuristic andriod phone.

I got the P9Psmall. Love the size, feel and look. There are some bugs which are annoying. But not sure if it's the phone or software (photos app) there is a problem with the share sheet. Sending a photo by clicking a frequent contact in the share sheet sends the photo to a completely different conversation!

Trusting caseology cases. I dropped mine on my back camera. Now I have Nick's in my camera metal but at least the camera glass didn't break... I love the phone, but one thing that I have noticed is that the phone does not get bright enough. The screen is a bit too dim and it's fine with me because I know they did that on purpose to improve the battery life. But when it comes to viewing media and viewing the phone outside, I noticed the phone does not get as bright as other phones. Another phone that I was using was the Galaxy s24 ultra and I also have a xiaomi 13t pro. Also the pixel 8 pro all get brighter than this phone in direct sunlight. I was watching a movie clip in direct sunlight on the pixel 9 pro and it was so dark. Literally with the brightness on full I couldn't see a thing. But other than that the phone is gray, but I kind of wish the brightness was in real world use as bright as the numbers say it is

I have the 256gb Pixel 9 Pro XL and unfortunately it is definitely UFS 3.1...the Storage is about 35-40 slower than an S24U...It is a great pity because the smartphone flies and it's very smooth and fast...with UFS4 it would be a beast! I hope for next year than with TSMC G5 and UFS4! And than it's for me the perfect smartphone! Ahhhh and the Selfie yeahhhhh it's so so good! It's no option for 42mpx Photos, but the 10mpx Pixel Binnig Photos are better than ever!

Only disappointing aspect is Google still haven't addressed the lens ghosting. If you point at lights at night especially with the zoom it's shows it as ghosted same as Apple does. Samsung doesn't do this nowhere near as bad
