hi unmesh, there is also another way by making a selection first then convert it to a vector path by right clicking the selection then "make work path" then set the tolerance depending on how acurate or smooth you want the path to be. Then lastly make the path into a vector mask.

Very timely! I've been facing this minor problem nowadays since I'm now taking freelancing gigs related to photoediting. And those jagged selection lines were a pain the ass. The only solution I could think of was to make selections via pen tool, which is more time-consuming tbh. Now with this, I finally know now how to deal with this problem. Thanks Unmesh!

to go with this, if you want to cut something off the background, you select the subject, then you layer -> new via copy - and now you have a selection on its own layer and perfect around the edges. and the background you cut it from doesn't have an outline where it was.

I found out that when using select item tool, it makes a better job if you click on the blue background and then just flip the selection. Try it.

If you want to cut something out properly, nothing beats the pen. It’s not the most time efficient, but yields the best results by far imo.

Hello Unmesh, first off, thank you for the valuable tips! Secondly, and on an unrelated note, I wanted your opinion on the mouse you're using (Logitech MX Master 3/3S) as I'm considering buying one but I'm reading that the rubber on it is very low quality and will start to "liquefy" and become very sticky over time, is this true? How long have you been using it? Can you do a video review of it if you have the time please? To anyone reading this comment, if you own that mouse, can you comment with the pros and cons please? I usually hate this type of selection. Iwant my edges to be as sharp as possible. Just the color blending from the background is annoying to remove. Why can I just pick the background color and remove these color values in the edge pixels? This would make it so much easier. I also have the problem, when selection something and COPYING it, the copy has transparent edges. I hate that. I always have to select 10 extra pixels just to manually erase this extra saftey border to have a sharp copy. Or i paste it like 10 or 20 times and reduce the 20 layers to one to compensate for it. But in both cases I have this ugly color bleading effect again. And it gets even crazier. When I STRG-X and STRG-V a selection at the same position the border of that cutout becomes also a bit transparent like a scar. Because the transparent edges of the copy and the remainings don't overlap. How can I tell photoshop to not make the edges of a copy or cutout transparent?
