Shocked to find this left off of the B-Sides and Rarities album! One of my favorites, everything from the TBYML era is an illustration of power in sparse, utilitarian song writing & arrangement.

@ Steve Sarro - I completely agree! If this track had been included in place of Instrumental #1, Instrumental #3, 97°, and You Come Through (Demo), the collection would be nearly definitive, at least for Dry all the way up to UHH. The absence of Long Time Coming is definitely a glaring omission! I'm not sure why 97° was even included, especially since the demo version of Cat On the Wall is present. It feels like a waste of space, as does the demo for You Come Through, which basically sounds nearly identical to the album version anyway. I can only hope that another volume of b-sides, rarities, and demos will be put out by her record company in the future, with this song at the top of the list :-)

@@tbeat03 Reeling is missing as well (the Steve Albini version on the b side of 50 Ft Queenie) :( Also Wang Dang Doodle from Man-size single. Wang Dang Doodle and Long Time Coming are both BBC Sessions so maybe there was a licencing problem with them?

Completely different, Perry is an pop-artist, the image, dancing and likability factor is much more important than the music itself. PJ is a musician without much compromise, and can allow herself to play challenging music.

The second line is either “waiting for my time” or “waiting for my chime” (I’m leaning toward the former). It’s definitely not “child”

Yes, not only music - but also image, performances etc., it was all great. I toally adore the vid with live version of Long Snake Moan in witch she's wearing this funny pink costume ;) Although I think that when she doesn't exopse that much the stuff and just concentrate on music (like at White Chalk era) she's still really amazing.

@ZZqezza Oh man, I saw her at The Trocadero in Philadelphia that period and it was so good I had to go see her again at The Academy in NYC later. She was fantastic. I saw her again in '98, again brilliant, but not like this period. I wish I could have seen her one woman show for the White Chalk album. The clips I've seen of that looked just as good.

@animegunner since this is a somewhat "religious" song i would suspect it Joseph's coat of many colors. but not being religious myself, i only know this from "Joseph & his Technicolor Dreamcoat" broadway show about said mentioned coat. this era did seem to have a lot of religious overtones.

How many CD singles of Send His Love to Me did they release? I have one that does not have this song as a B-side, but rather has two live tracks from Glastonbury. I wonder who was responsible for so much of PJ's best work from this period coming out as B-sides.
