I feel so fortunate to have known of this song since the album came out in 1995 and not just after an episode of Peaky Blinders. This has been a classic and a staple for the last 25 years.
This is SO fucking unbelievably raw and sensual! She must be one of the sexiest women I have ever seen. Love her music, her voice, her lyrics, just everything about her. Wow, just wow.
I can't believe its taken me 16 years to discover just how good Polly Jean is - but now I'm gonna go back and check out all her stuff I've missed. OMG she rocks better than any other woman (or man for that matter ) alive.
Simple yet a classic. PJ sure hit a home run with this song. I'll forever remember driving up Norther Ontario, I was the only car on the road for miles to come and had this song at full volume. It created one of them "magical moments". Rock On, Grinderman
Just guitar, drums, keyboard and her voice. So simple, even the riff and drum beat, but your still drawn into her darkly and slightly humorous world. Such an intense atmosphere. I've soo gotta learn that riff now!
MOST AMAZING MUSICIAN/SINGER/SONGWRITER, EVER! A 44YR OLD WOMAN KICKS TEPID MODERN MUSIC IN THE ASS. SHE'S THE FACE OF ROCK you wankers...you're not fit to wipe her spit if you disagree
PJ Harvey is a legend...What a voice, what a performer...She is just amazing, one of the best female artist in the world...all the Cline Dion-like should watch this and learn what "talent" really means...
I was born in the desert I been down for years Jesus, come closer I think my time is near And i've traveled over Dry earth and floods Hell and high water To bring you my love Climbed over mountains Traveled the sea Cast down off heaven Cast down on my knees I've lain with the devil Cursed god above Forsaken heaven To bring you my love To bring you my love To bring you my love To bring you my love I know he's gonna be here You know he's gonna be here Yeah alright Forsaken heaven Cursed god above Laid with the devil Bring you my love To bring you my love To bring you my love To bring you my love
Her voice sounds like a deeper, more agressive version of Patti Smith on this. Wow, I'm really seeing the similarites. She is probably my favourite woman in rock/alternative in this present day.
I don't think the comment was directed at "men/manhood" as much as at "men who can watch a totally intense performer singing her heart out and gracing us with her talents which reside totally on a cerebral level, and still bring it all down to crass nature...making her performance totally about her body as an object to use for one's own gratification.... instead of commenting on her words and thoughts and music...which is supposedly why we're listening in the first place.
Fatima Abdullah i must have excellent taste in music because everything i play in youtube people are saying "peaky blinders" im american and have no idea if thats a show a movie what?! Haha! Im always like but of course peaky blinders!
