Proper placement of reflective triangles is a must when you find youreself in a breakdown situation on the interstate. Proper placement can keep you and your vehicle from being struck. Be safe!
Perfect information. I’m amazed to see how many drivers from all companies don’t know the correct placement of the triangles. Good job demonstrating this critical safety step.
When I break down on the side of the road or hwy, I do not even open the driver side door, I get in and out on the passenger side only. If I have to sit in my truck and wait for a mechanic, I sit in the passenger seat.
Thank you! Just blew a tire on i24 and couldn't remember exact placement. Also appreciate the reasoning behind it - so people steer AWAY from my truck! Also, save your triangles on the passenger side. PS. I had them all close to the road and actually saw trucks coming towards me!!!! Now that I've spaced and positioned them correctly, I see them veering away!
Great video with good information! At the end of the video you mentioned the distance between the first and last triangle was only 200ft. At 70mph a vehicle is covering 105ft per second, so as effective as we hope these warning devices are, it’s not much!
How would you advise staying safe while placing those triangles should this happen at night, under poor lighting conditions? Assuming that the driver does have a reflective vest on?
Per FMCSA, "When a vehicle is stopped on the shoulder, or traveled portion of a divided, or one way highway, all signals are placed to the rear of the vehicle. The prescribed distances are 10 feet, 100 feet, and 200 feet to the rear". Be safe.
