What I really like about Domingo is that he never tries to show how cool he is, how talented he is, he never shows off, he sings songs and music, not himself.

I've never heard this done any better than this magical moment in time! I will never forget this! I hear it my dreams sometimes....I shum or sing parts or this aria ( a la Domingo) sometimes withoout knowing I'm doing it! Divinity.

Kaufman should not be mentioned in the same breath as corelli,domingo is fine but del monaco,corelli,pertile,gigli,tucker, and many others were much better....as fir kaufman 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Доминго идеально попадает в ноты, каждый слог озвучивается правильным интонированием, поэтому его голос настоящая музыка. Он озвучивает слова точным окрасом тембра своего голоса так, что его пение превращается в естественную картину происходящего.
Yeah this is one of his best roles. Personally I would rank his rendition only second to Monaco and Corelli. Also, please, Placido Domingo is not "whole" without his bestie Sherill Milnes.
Though Corelli and Monaco did this role wonderfully as well (!!), I feel that Domingo gave it a "zärtlich" feeling that none other ever has managed. This is just true emotion - and not only a vocal performance.
@@niklasdefries I agree. There's something in his voice that delivers the emotion. Also I think the reason he could cover for Corelli, is that he also had that "sadness" in his voice.
Domingo è sempre migliore dei tenori oggi ma a quel tempo aveva una voce da "Un Incredibile", non Chenier. Aveva cantato Un Incredibile con Pippo Di Stefano come Chenier in Messico all'inizio degli anni '60.

Just sad that he can't sing a nice b flat. Everything else is fine but pinched. Not his best. He is great in other things. Has had some great performances. But, please don't try to tell me these are great high notes. THEY ARE NOT! Sorry for the negativity. I really like Domingo. Othello, IL Tabarro. Spanish songs like no puede ser. So many great performances and yet so many disappointing high notes. But what a career and what a musician. I apologize for my frustration with this tenor.
Domingo was not a high tenor, for sure, but saying that he couldn't sing a nice b flat is utter ignorance. Taste is one thing - but this is simply not true. Especially the second b flat is perfectly placed and resonating for him. If you want a Corelli b flat - be my guest. But he could absolutely sing those notes quite well.
