when he first hit the uk scene back in 2009-10 he was pretty big in this country to be fair, he lost alot of momentum having such a long hiatus out of the game
Yeah he should be. He's very underrated , he was very successful here in the UK but he had six years out and I missed his new album for example due to lack of marketing. He is amazing regardless and his new album is unreaaaal!
I can not understand it as well. Plan B could be more famous as he is because he is a King of the quality in everything he is doing !!!!!! I am polish living in Berlin Germany , hope I will listen to him live one day.
Cuz most muppets wanna listen to the street rats "Man Dem" "Who dat" Kiddie biddie badboys getting about chatting biz about shottin trappin stackin dem peez yawny yawn dog shit
My god this man is amazing, when you have grown up poor, gone through shit, then come out the other side and you see nothing has changed, all these years later, Ben you are an old head on young shoulders, amazing interview, I can personally relate so much to what you are talking about.
Many don't. He's a very intelligent, ultra talented, artist at multi levels. Singer writer producer etc. He's well grounded and not influenced by the BBC ITV SKY News bullshit. A man with a clear opinion of his own and stands by it. Integrity!
Seriously respect Drew! One hundred percent real....none of that fake ass spotlight bullshit. People evolve and change, I feel like he has put his heart into this industry and finally getting what he originally went into music for. He's eloquent about all of the school stuff and speaks the truth...none of the politicians truly understand what it's like being an ordinary person! Thanks NME for a fantastic, honest and truly inspiring interview. ☺️🇬🇧
True genius songwriter, so underated , that defamation of Strickland banks album was brilliant, the mixture of soul and his rap lyrics is amazing, great actor too ,
Going down a nostalgia trip of Plan B's stuff & I've never really heard him speak.....this did not disappoint. Great guy. Ill Manors is truly a classic that captures British youth culture at a certain time perfectly, even better looking back at it.
Yeah BEN DREW is defo the most underrated artist we have in the UK 🇬🇧 Who need actions when you got words & defamation of strickling banks /ill manors are All modern classics!
Yes, it is the best music who care what anyone thinks its amazing, they dont know music when they hear it. Its absolutely awesome, its totally you. God bless you. Its a great great album. It really is.
I've had a lot of respect for Plan B for several years. He was the last hip-hopper whose music I properly got into - especially Who Needs Actions and Strickland Banks.
He really doesn't get the recognition his talents warranties, his film ill Manor is in my top 10 of any era of British films ever made, they talk about Stanley cubic clock work orange & hitchcock classics, but you're got to throw ill Manor in that mix!
This dude is amazing, his words and music are awesome and will be remembered for a long time! My girlfriend, she is from Australia, has worked with a lot kids in different schools in London and yeah, they had never seen a beach, the ocean. What is so cool is that when she took them to the ocean, all the kids where so happy, that they jumped in the water, all dressed and had a blast! Isn t it simple? Ben is right when he says that this is all about? Peace
Should have had me interviewing him, he's been my true musical idol for 15 years of my life and his music really helped me find a way to cope with the everyday bullshit in life, great ideologies also

Forcing people into vocational education sounds to me like 'class control'. If you're unruly or not properly educated, you'll stay that according to the informal laws of British society. Shame!
Wtf is a proper roadman? You make it sound like something to aspire to. This is what's wrong with this country, a race to the bottom mentality and kids worshipping idiots. God help us all.
My problem with Bens views on the East End and Conservatism is this, my entire family for four generations lived in East London both Poplar and the Isle of Dogs, they are from Romanian and Polish origins prior to WW1 but for those who are still alive, all vote Conservative. They grew up in London when poor meant literally having nothing to eat, or wear on your feet, but made it up the ladder through hard work and commitment.
As much as love his talent, I really don't understand why he has to speak the way he does....I mean come on, he's white! And the swearing...it's not good, not professional. I love his stuff, but he's got to grow up.
Phil Dearman he’s from forest gate you neek all the mandem speak like that doesn’t matter if you white or black You obviously some cunch probably live in Devon or something
It is his accent. It's where he is from. He's from North East London. Do you insult others? Why do they speak like that? Honestly, we all have different accents, different pronunciations. We're a very diverse country with mixed social classes. I'm also from North East London, I used to speak the same then I moved to Brighton and now I have a Southern accent but damn, my London still comes out. Don't be so ignorant.
