First clip, not overly steep, not a near stall. That is a typical air show maneuver with an empty airplane and minimal fuel load. If that plane has the GEnx-1B engine the total thrust is 128,000lbs. The empty weight of a 787 is 265,000lbs giving it a 1:0.5 weight to thrust ratio, similar to early jet fighters.
@williampliss9879

Wow I love everything you just wrote, I feel like I learned so much just now. So what would that plane weigh on average with a full load of fuel and passengers?
@Thankz4sharing
@Thankz4sharing Год назад
@@williampliss9879 Wikipedia gives the empty weight of the 787-8 as 264,500 lb / 120,000 kg and the max takeoff weight as 502,500 lb / 227,900 kg. The 787-9 and -10 are heavier both empty and full, and also have engines with more thrust.

*Rumour has it the American Airlines A321 got into an argument with an Emirates A380 over who was taking off first. Some insults were exchanged ("stupid narrow body little sissy"..."at least I'm still in production"..."I've got more engines than you've got"..."so what if I've only got two engines - I'm more fuel efficient and all my seats are filled with paying-passengers") and the incident culminated in punches being thrown...one of which connected with the A321's nose. The A380 suffered a black eye, a broken pitot-tube and a busted winglet. Most witnesses agree that the A321 came out on top. ATC confirmed that the A321 had priority to take-off first, and the A380 was made to apologise.*

@Bartonovich52

FBW doesn’t prevent a stall in all cases. Especially in a Boeing where the pilot has the last say. And even Airbus in Alternate and Direct Law. Air France 447 was stalled for 30,000 feet because the pilot incorrectly believed that you can’t stall a FBW Airbus, not realizing it had reverted to Alternate Law due to the loss of air data.

If pilots at airshows want to do crowd-pleasing near-vertical take-offs in 787s with two healthy engines, no passengers or cargo, and with a lot less than the full 111 tons of fuel their planes could be carrying, they have the power-to-weight numbers to safely make these maneuvers. Each engine on a twin-engined airliner must be able to get that fully loaded plane climbing to a safe altitude if the other engine failed at take-off. This is a demonstration that 787s at maximum take-off weight and other twin-engine airliners have at least twice the power they would ever need. Don't think of it as a crazy stunt because it's actually a safety demonstration.

It has always been said that over time it damages engines, which is why the airlines need tugs just for the short distance from the gate to the taxiway. That Dreamliner was obviously NOT in commercial service. Air show.

Can anyone tell me the angle of that plane in the first clip? Thanks!
@MrSchwabentier

45-50 degrees roughly. Thats what they normally do at airshows

The Fury pilot was very lucky that happened near somewhere to land.

Tail strike is nothing , the “ tail area “ is reinforced for that very eventuality

This plane did not almost stall. A stall happens when you exceed the critical angle of attack. It’s not based on body angle of the aircraft. You can do a complete loop and not stall the plane. And in most cases the planes nose will simply fall as it loses airspeed due to the reduction of lift. You can see model gliders do this when you throw them. You need to continue to pull up to stall. By pushing, the angle of attack is probably zero, about as far from the stall as you’re going to get.

model gliders fall because they stall do they not?

@@Mustard5284 So... what's your idea? Did the pilot perform the maneuver inadvertently? Wasn't it a planned maneuver?
@Mustard5284
@Mustard5284 Год назад
considering that the takeoff was at an airshow it is most likely to be a planned maneuver@@RobertoRMOLA

Does anyone know if the Biman Bangladesh 787-8 have passengers or was it an airshow for that steep climb in the first clip?
@Rif_Leman
@Rif_Leman Год назад
It had passengers. The purpose of the maneuver was to dislodge the coins from passenger pockets and have the coins collect in the tail for later retrieval.

No I am pretty positive the plane was totally void of passengers and a low fuel load
