FILM DESCRIPTION:
Easily excitable Neal Page (Steve Martin) is somewhat of a control freak. Trying to get home to Chicago to spend Thanksgiving with his wife (Laila Robins) and kids, his flight is rerouted to a distant city in Kansas because of a freak snowstorm, and his sanity begins to fray. Worse yet, he is forced to bunk up with talkative Del Griffith (John Candy), whom he finds extremely annoying. Together they must overcome the insanity of holiday travel to reach their intended destination.

Fun Fact: In the script, the Marathon Lady was supposed to be on the phone with a customer that was making a reservation. When they were shooting, that's what she was doing in the first few takes. But John Hughes thought it would've been funnier if she was on a personal phone call that would get Neil completely pissed off and told the actress to improvise. Everything that she says on the phone was what she came up with on the spot

That's Edie McClurg, a freaking hilarious woman. She had so much comedic talent, improvising a lot of what you see for the character in her movies. The whole part where the principal was fumbling around when Ferris Bueller's "father" called was all her. In this scene here, she made up the phone conversation she was having; the script only says "A perky young agent finishes her last task and looks up at Neal with a big, friendly, TV ad smile."
