Personally love mine

I’m very curious about the DSR but I haven’t seen anyone at my field with one. It seems some people prefer them over the M3.

My friend was crazy about his DSR but he had one tournament in freezing weather earlier this year and he told me every single person on his team shooting a non-PE gun had issues, He got a GEO 4 to replace it and loves it to death.

@@codybasile9128 I’ve been away from the sport for about 10 years and just recently came back. I would like to shoot a CS and newer Geo. I did not like the shot of the Geo and Geo2 at all.

Hey there! Between those, my favorite is the 170 for sure. But, value-wise, it's hard to ignore the Syx. It's an excellent marker that does not get nearly the respect it deserves, and you can find them used for 400 or even a little under.

Ya for sure those things all can matter, no question. A while back, I had a Geo 4, a CS1.5, a 170R and a CS2 all here, and I spent maybe 90 minutes shooting them all back to back, comparing, etc. and my conclusion was that the IV core guns didn't actually shoot more softly at all; they just sounded diferent. ANd, that made sense, given that they have -very- similar construction re: amount of moving mass in the core, how they operate, etc. All awesome markers for sure.

It's never too late to trade up :)

I might be able to chime in, I have owned all 3 of the sub-$1k USD highends (Amp, DSR's, and 170R) so I think I can weigh in better than most. The biggest thing I would say is to hold the DSR and 170R in your hands because the ergonomics can be a deal breaker. The DSR has a smaller space between the trigger guard and foregrip, and if you're not getting a Dye lab version the stock DSR trigger guard has a hard edge on it. The UL frame can be uncomfortable to some people. And the DSR lever can crack over time (I had to order a repair kit for one earlier this year). BUT if you find the ergonomics agreeable, then the DSR is AMAZING. It's quieter, softer shooting (with the Flex can but stock it's a very satisfying shot characteristic), and I found it the gentlest on paint out of the Amp and 170R. Out of the three I went from Amp -> DSR -> Dye Lab DSR -> 170R, and now going back to a DSR. To me it is the best, and the fact you can get a used DSR with a Flex bolt and can for less than used 170r it's a no brainer. If you can wait, we anticipate a DSR 2.0 coming later this year that will address some issues, but definitely go to your local Proshop and hold them first.

Well, I did mention that this is my personal 170r, so that's me actually picking it over the DSR. :) Seriously, I've had a couple DSRs, and for maybe 5 months I had both. I see people say that the DSR has a softer shot, but I disagree. None of the DSRs I've owned had as soft a shot as the 170, and none of them was easier on paint. To wit, I've got just over 30k shots on the one in this vid, and I've yet to break a ball in it. But likenI said in the shooting portion, that isn't a knock on the DSR..awesome marker. They are both good enough that the 'what's better' question is really all preference.

@@eduardolomeli2643 that depends on how big your buck is. I think the very best value right now re: cost v. performance would be a used Syx, and it's not really close. You can find those as cheap as 350. An OG Gtek would also be a great buy at that price, but you get an older design that has the macro line, and some plastic parts. It's the Syx in this range for me.

Sot signature implies sound, and we're referring to more than sound. But, that one is still waaaay better than 'shot quality' fo sho!
