PF is a good value for the average person that just wants to lose weight and look slim and healthy. At least they aren't ripping people off. It's not the place to be if you're a serious bodybuilder or entering physique competitions, but what percent of gym users are?
I agree with your assessment. I am a bodybuilder, and was definitely unwelcomed at a PF lol no judgement zone indeed smh. I only went because it was the only facility next to my office a few years ago. That being said for the average workout individual it's ideal.
I joined last week and it's ok for what I need right now. I'm trying to lose 100lbs. Once I achieve that I intend to begin bodybuilding, and will need to join a different gym. But PF is just fine for the current task at hand.
I’m 62 and was in the military accustom to exercise on a regular basis but quit after being discharged. About 3 years ago I realized if I didn’t get up off the couch I was just waiting on a stroke or heart attack. PF is a great place for everyone except the body builder and lunks they’re in a different world and PF doesn’t cater to those and I’m glad. I was a member at the YMCA but the lunks didn’t want anyone in the weight room whenever they were using it so we went to PF and it’s great no lunks!
Hahaha when you say LUNKS do you mean real training people? And when you say you're 62 do you mean useless? 'Cause you might be right "sister" in arms.
D J thank you for your service. Also, thank you for being a lazy fat fuck that let themself go with no self worth. PF needs your business, we certainly don’t want you with that piss poor mentality.
It’s a “judgement free zone” but he said first thing that you’re an idiot for not signing up” or something like that. Lol. Horrible tour. I hope he doesn’t work at PF. If cooperate saw this or sent in a secret shopper, he would be fired. Our tours are mostly scripted. You can add your own flare however calling one an idiot isn’t one of the things I suggest.
I joined a month ago and I haven't checked in once. I have anxiety issues plus ADHD Freeze. Can I keep my membership if I just use it for the Tanning beds?
Thank you for this. I just began working out at PF in Onalaska, WI and never got a tour or some kind of orientation. The staff are nice but don't have the most helpful answers to my questions. I am wondering, do I have to sign something or check in somewhere in order to use the hydromassagers? And what are you supposed to wear while using the hydromassagers? Do people just stay in their workout clothes? Do they get sanitized after each use? m
I heard pf is a joke my friend is a trainer and he said he went to check it out and got to the front desk and told him he couldnt join cause he was to big
@@Grimr33fer that's discrimination and your friend could have rightfully made a complaint about it to the facility owner. Or possibly FCC/Consumer Complaints department.
in high school me and a friend would be allowed with our PE class to go to where the football players can workout and run drills during school and we would take one of the weighted balls and sit on the floor and toss them to one another and when we got it we would have to do a sit up to be able to toss it back because we threw with enough momentum to topple the other lol. i would also bench press and do other weights, me and her, we are both girls, would basically be there with the boys while the other girls in our class would sit around on there phones the whole time. we would do competitions with the football players in our class cheering us on. it was fun. ive been looking for a gym to start up in again. the closest one to me is 25 minutes away though but doable.
Nope. Crunch gym is "no judgments" and is only $10. Better yet, there really is no judgement. Nobody gives a shit about what the other person is doing.
@@brianbradley1345 it's odd, but apparently they're really making good money. Part of it is from stock, and part of it is having three tiers (10-20 bucks) but 10 is all most need.
They don't want members that care about strength, they'd rather hurt them with a smith machine that locks their form and screws them up from that. Don't forget their whole advertising model is to make fun of gym rats and JUDGE everybody by public shaming with their nonsense alarms.
I like this guy. He seems knowledgeable & super fit yet very empathetic to those that are just starting. This PF has many different machines that mine doesn’t offer
@@danbalam0218 His build? Stature? You can generally tell if someone’s fit or not by how they carry themselves. He obviously isn’t cut since you can see some bodyfat, but there’s a lot of ways to use deductive reasoning to come to the conclusion that he’s fit.
Mom and I joined & started Nov 2017. A few months later she was admitted to the hospital then admitted again. She was just given the all clear to return to working out yesterday!! So we are going back. I asked her after her Doctor's appointment if the yard work, this year, counts as exercise. She gave me the "hell yeah it does" look. (We have a huge yard and it's a battle every spring) LOL I love her. ❤
Thank you for this tour. I joined our Planet Fitness last week and no one offered to show me anything or give me a tour. I appreciate your video. Thanks again!
Same with me! I was so disappointed by it too. I'm not sure if they are supposed to give a tour or if we are supposed to ask them for it, but I made it known multiple times that I was new and unfamiliar with how things work and the staff seemed less than willing to help. It felt awkward to stand there and ask a long list of questions, so I wish they would have at least given me some kind of information packet from the first time I told them I was new. The first time I used the tanning bed the girl helping me just told me which bed number it was, didn't bother to walk me to it or show me how to use the features on it. I didn't even get some kind of follow-up email after purchasing my membership online, so I had to call them and ask what I was supposed to do next. I'm so confused by their customer service.
I have been going for 4 weeks. I have never been in a gym prior and am 62 years old. The "no judge" is in force as there are many more people heavier than I am and I am not intimidated or embarrassed. I live in Bullhead City, AZ which is not a big town. I am a overwhelmed by the helpfulness and support the staff and trainer has provided. Thank you Planet Fitness. 😺
No judge my ass. Lift some actual weight and breathe hard. Drop a weight after a pyramid set. Take a gallon of water. Wish a real gun would buy them out and make it a real gym.
may day if you aren’t in a certain age demographic, it does. I bring my phone and headphones and listen to my music. That said, the TV screens with the clock are good for timing your rest period between sets.
People are too busy today looking in the mirror to notice you . Love you ... build your confidence . If they don’t judge you inside the gym then they will outside .What do you care . You are here for you . ( Trainer of chsmpions)
I'm a member. I get why it's addicting. I have every ability to perform all these exercises at home. But, if I pay someone else to accommodate these exercises it somehow obligates me to go and do them. Like 20 minutes on a treadmill at a gym is more satisfying than walking around my block twice. I have my own free weights at home and most if not all exercises can be performed at home. But, if it makes you feel better going to a public place to do these thing helps you doing them, I understand.
It does the opposite for me. I’m a skinny dude though so I really just need to lift dumbbells at home and do body weight exercises to be fine. This just doesn’t seem worth it
@@seamarina1013 The lunk alarm... Basically you have to be quiet like a library, I had a friend get asked to leave because he was grunting too loud after being warned... But he was lifting pretty heavy so not sure how grunting is offensive. Also they have some strict rules on "judgement free" zone.. Like I get it, but people take it too extreme and get upset if you even look at them once while they workout. Sometimes I'm just curious how the machine works or impressed by your workout. It's basically a "Don't look or talk to anyone else" rule.
This is one of the most amazing Planet Fitness gyms I've seen. So much space and such a variety of machines. I love my location but this is on another level. Thanks for sharing.
Alot of haters because of the limited free weight range. Honestly this is a solid gym for 98% of the population. I just signed up thanks to the $99 for a year deal from Jersey Strong. Basically same equipment minus dumbells that go past 75lbs/barbells at 60 lbs. Not gonna lie that is really what holds this gym back but generally speaking most people wont go past 75lbs anyway. Just saying, lots of haters that think its bad but its really not.
hunterharper06 I’ve seen some pretty fit people in the PF I go to and only once have I’ve seen the alarm go off. And when it did it was for someone who didn’t put their weights back on the rack. I think it all depends which PF you go to on when that stupid Lund alarm goes off.
I heard you can bring a friend for workout out but it doesn't give them access to the tanning/hydro massage, etc. Just the gym portion. Could be wrong though...
@@ricardoortega6799 I believe when I signed up, it was $20/month. I canceled my membership last spring due to covid. I don’t know how they’re surviving now. I don’t see many cars in the parking lot as I did prior to the pandemic. They might increase the price after all of this is done to recoup their losses. But who knows? 🤷🏼♀️
This gym is great regardless if you're a beginner or not lmao I see wwe wrestlers use these facilities all the time when traveling and weightlifting trainers use these gyms too also people in my neighborhood including family that weight train and are heavily experienced prefer this gym.. you can gain muscle it's all about education and experience from other resources.. it's MORE than worth every penny
You guys have a lot more stuff than my store does and y'all are set up different. I go to the PF in Amarillo, Texas. I have lost 40 pounds in recent times doing the "Hill" program on the treadmill and doing the 30 minute room. I have the black card :) The massage chair is my favorite part about going ;) Anyway, I watched the whole video....good stuff.
How was your first day? I'm thinking of joining. I've never been to a real gym either. Been working out in my home gym but I'm limited on my exercises. I need variety! Lol
@@Chris-0113 It was good!! I just feel a little lost at times but that'll get better the more I go! When I go on Sunday, I'm going to have one of the staff members walk through with me to show me all of the equipment. The only thing that stinks is having to figure out the equipment but it'll get better! I love it!!
@@krystlenicole9268 lol you're quite welcome! Thank you for replying! Glad you like it! I think you've convinced me! I'm going to give it a try. I suppose I can always start with the $10, no obligation package first to see if I like it. Were they crowded when you went? That's probably my biggest concern.
@@Chris-0113 Not a problem!! Here where I'm at (WV,) it's best to go in the morning or early afternoon. We have one of the larger PF's though! In the evening (5p and after) it's insane because of everyone getting off work and hitting the gym! Other than that, minimal crowd. 😊
Why do people talk shit about pf? Me and my friend were talking about going and everyone whose a "gym enthusiast" was talking shit. I mean in reality I wanna get pretty beat but not huge. My body type is huge as it is. I just want something cheap and a good place to start, like not going to be lifting 100 lab dumbbells right at the beggining
I'm sure you've heard all the negative things about Planet Fitness. I'm an avid lifter and here is the way I look at it..."it's not the gym you train at...it's how you train at the gym you're at". Meaning all you have to is follow a few simple rules and for the price and amenities you really can't beat the place! I've found that my local location is pretty leinant too. Only heard the alarm go off once or twice in my 7 months of lifting there. Thoughts?
When u visit a real gym you won't look back brother. . . just the right atmosphere can add 20kg to ya squat and the smell off hard worked sweat puts another 15 on ya bench!! Send for the big guns baby , send for the cannons
All this for 20 bucks a month! It's just amazing! It would have been nice to have at least one bench press, though. But still, it's an unbelievable return for your money here.
How can I get my best work out out everyday after I apply? Does someone measure my body in places and show me how to jot down what area I'm focusing on? Are people friendly here? I'm quitting smoking after 20yrs and I can handle it but my breath gets short...
well, im a gym freak for sure and have always gone to LA fitness, 24 hour fitness, those gyms. so a lack of a squat rack and bench press will be interesting. but the great price and the combo tanning, massages, with the black card membership is very enticing. especially because also the black card membership is still inexpensive. headed to my first planet fitness now! im excited :) thanks for the video!
I can tell you that Planet Fitness us a wonderful gym to belong to.I love my home OF gym here in Fresno,California. One complaint: they have a high employee turnover rate.I wonder why?
If you’re serious about working out just go to the real gym because you not only getting free weights but you’re also getting the bodybuilding or famous fitness influencers vibe and even if you’re a beginner just start with free weight and you will make quicker gains. I moved on to real gym 4 weeks ago and trust me I love it and it’s definitely worth it.
This one is state of the art, the PF by me does not have 1/2 of what is here. We don't have balls or leg curl machines. Lots more that this gym has that we don't have
Yeah but the difference is... In PF you can be "reported" or basically some loser can tell on you for having looked at them once during their workouts lmao Like.. I just wanted to see how the machine worked so I watched you use it, I wasn't judging you. That is silly, and the "Be quiet!" rule too... Some employees are not as stuck up with it, but my friend got asked to leave by one because he kept "grunting too loud" while lifting weights.
Holy shit this PF is ENORMOUS! Mine is hamster crap compared to this one lmao there isn't an ab section at my PF, which is a shame because that's what I wanted to work on the most. There are a lot of cardio machines and things for your arms but not really much else :(
I have general comments about Andrew's videos. I hope you will redo this whole series. I am a small woman, and I find the adjustments of the machines difficult to figure out, as well as, I am not strong enough to pull the adjustment pins at all. I think you should always do a closeup of the diagrams on the machines for what muscles are used, as well as, the instructions on the machine. It happens that the ads that pop up usually block the moments when you are showing how to adjust the machine. Could you possibly time this better? Keep in mind that I don't know what you mean by lats an other technical names for muscles. Can you show on your own body what that means? Please have a microphone on your person since the audio is often really hard to hear, especially when you face away from the camera. Start at the most basic machines before you go on to the weighed machines. Demonstrate how to use dumbells. 3 pounds I too much for me. And then, on the machines that you say you never use, have someone else who does use them show them. Saying it is a really nice machine is redundant. Of course they are nice or great or why would they exist? Maybe at the end just say "and that is my take on this machine." Or something similar. On the stretch machines, do a closeup pan on the diagrams poster as you point to them. Do the machines requiring free weighs last. I'm a beginner, and I will not be using them for a long time. Have a special series for beginners, one for intermediate, and another for advanced. Talk about how a beginner might need not work out to burn. Also mention that a beginner might want to just work one area of the body at one visit. For example, to abs on one visit, next visit, do legs; next visit arms; next visit shoulders, etc. I probably have more ideas but this is good for now. Oh another thing, on some machines, I am so small that my chest doesn't go to where the chest support is. And on one machine, the weigh starts at 10 lbs and the next option is 25. Well the 10 lbs is too little for me and the 25 lbs is impossible for me. Is there a way to have the machine do 15 lbs and 20 lbs? I like the price of the membership, but the "trainer" only showed me the machines vary briefly, and of course the next time I went to work out, I couldn't figure out how to use them. Can I have someone accompany on the first few visits to help me figure out my weights, my machine adjustments, and so forth? The classes are too advanced for me because I am so weak. Ok bye for now.
You should redo the whole video, first, don't call anyone idiots, and second, if you don't have a microphone on you, then turn around and talk to the camera.
This location is larger than some locations. Some other locations may be smaller but should still have most of the same equipment. Thank you for viewing!
Great Job explaining everything. Just joined. It has way more than another gym I came from. I love the different areas setup. It is super clean. So far really good...
Bottom line y'all. Dropping weight and getting in shape is based on your will, and determination. Not the gym. You can get in great shape with equipment or not. However, if you prefer equipment, planet fitness has everything anyone would need. For less!!
Wish I saw this when I first joined. I didn't get the complimentary tour. They just said have at it. For 10 bucks a month it can't be beat. Its rare that the no lunk alarm goes off. At first I had no idea what it even was. For the average person who just wants to get in shape and lose some weight its perfect. Your PF is huge, the one I go to is nice but about 1/3rd the size.
