one slightly overlooked detail- the portal Hulk and Surfer fell through also significantly lowered their power levels -temporarily. That is why they were so easilly taken by the Red Kings forces.

I read Hulk comics steady from 1978 to the end of World War Hulk. I figured that was a good place to stop reading because it was a nice book end.

@ Peter David's 10 year run on the title is generally considered to be the best Hulk run ever. Not Pak's. Pak's is good. Great, even. But not the greatest. Sorry.

Technically speaking, it's not a graphic novel. It's just another story arc. That said, usually those top 10 lists are reserved for particularly impactful stories like Civil War. Pretty sure it gets put on plenty of Hulk lists.

Beta Ray Bill is a cyborg monster created by alien scientists who is worthy enough, by Asgardian standards, to wield Mjolnir and basically be a second Thor because apparently Marvel thinks that the more Thors they have the better.

It actually was better to have a second Thor. Beta Ray Bill was like a Space Thor who got to travel to alien worlds and still do the bad ass things we expect to see from Thor.

Wolverine. but some people say he is Slade. (whoever that is) yeah Wolverine was originally Hulks bad guy but later turns out to be a good guy. It fits Crixus is Wolverine

The Red King deciding to jump into the arena, and fight Hulk himself, is reminiscent of Comodus. Who would often do the same thing(much to the chagrin of the citizens & senate), only with all sort of stipulation in place which would guarantee that he'd win.

Great review as usual but I think you missed speaking about one very important thing. When the Hulk and the Silver Surfer were brought through the portal to that planet they were weakened significantly. That is why Hulk wasn't as strong, as invulnerable, and his healing factor was messed up. Surfer's cosmic powers were weakened as well by the portal. It took them both a long time to recover and get their real power back.

Rob this was epic. Thank you so much for doing hulk videos man, especially this one. I have only seen the Planet Hulk feature length version. In it they use Beta Ray Bill instead of the Silver Surfer. I never knew that he and the Hulk were on Sakkar at the same time; or that they fought each other. Growing up I couldn't always afford to collect comic books. I eventually had a $4000 collection that I had to sell, in tight times, and I never got a chance to collect again. I am a struggling artist myself, but I have always loved comic books, and I always will. There are so many that I haven't read. Over the past four years I have been trying to catch up by reading them online. I love your videos, your channel, your enthusiasm for accuracy, and your art of storytelling. I hope you never stop making videos. Rock on!

Planet Hulk depresses me because all he wants to do is go home and everyone has betrayed him. I hope they dont make a movie about this just solely because its such a depressing story. That's why I enjoyed the love relationship Bruce and Nat had in Age of Ultron, because bruce/hulk always get the worst outcome of everything. So to give him such a sweet relationship with Nat really warmed my heart and I hope they continue with it in the movies (even though lots of people may disagree with me). I just think its good to finally give him something to live and fight for, Nat.

I agree that the Hulk/Nat thing could've worked out... if they gave it development. That's the main problem with the relationship. While believable, considering the circumstances, Whedon gave us no buildup to it, along with Nat being completely out of character in her scenes with him. It's a believable relationship, despite it never happening in the comics as far as I know, but we got no buildup and it was really awkward and just strengthened my reasons for shipping Romanogers. But hey, opinions.

This is one of my favorite hulk story lines. When I was commuting I used to have to wait for a ferry and there was a library that had lots of story line collections. This was one of the ones I read.

One of my favorite things about the Hulk is the duality between Hulk and Bruce. Bruce Banners emotional stuff is great. Planet Hulk is the best Hulk Hulk stuff imo. It's like old school pulp scifi.

Surfer was weakened by the portal to Sakaar, that left him temporarily vulnerable and able to be fitted with a disc.

Love Hulk Planet. Bruce is awesome finds redemption and more allies like he's never had before. It is a classic Frankestein creature tale. Hulks unbridled power is life giving elixir for this planet. It could literally be his domain. It is a cruel story utimately.

I read the entire series. Your doing a great job explaining how cool of story this was. Hulk has always been one of my favorite characters. but I thought a lot of his stories were sub-par of what/who hulk really is. This is series offers the best version of an Incredible Hulk.
