"Oh, it does rotate" (the solar panel) It was classic watching you rant about how the solar panel should rotate to face the sun, and meanwhile, it was rotating while you ranted about it.
That rare moment, when the camera is centered to catch the meteor damaging the most important structure, in the most important time (night), and see how well you reacted. Entertainment gold.
wow the attention to detail in this game this definitely something going in my library i mean you can see the stars reflection in your solar panels at night that's so cool
Splat = 2mins in "i need to build a store". Splat = Digresses hard. Splat = Never gets round to building the store. "my OCD man", you can't just leave all that stuff laying around outside.
If you can make multiple airlocks which i assume, you might want to put one closer to the electrical grid so that people don't have to run around the whole base to do critical repairs and builds
Of course nobody expects you to be super mega awesome at Dwarf Fortress. Every fortress dies in the end, the question is how spectacular that end is. Remember: Losing is Fun! Also, meteors suck, and it seems like instead of regularly raining them down in a random distribution, the game periodically just decides that now is the time of your fucking and spawns a meteor to bullseye one of your buildings. It's a good thing you had that extra power storage, or you'd have been done right there.
He says turbine correctly, That makes me happy. I hate people that say wind turban, a wind turban is a middle eastern headband that makes you better at casting wind magicks and is not a real thing, a wind turbine makes produces power.
I really hope we can get up to ten episodes out of this series! I really enjoy it and it is a ton of fun to watch you play this while i play planetary annihilation(You should check that game out too, not like a series but like just a single video :P)
Will have to try this game when it's available. The only thing I'm thinking you should change? Your airlock position compared to your power/water generators (where people have to go outside to work on, or make new ones). It seems people/robots will go over power conduits/pipes but not over walkways; so they're going around your base "arms" to get to work. Adding an airlock pointed the other direction (maybe off the place you grow food) could make this more efficient? Just a suggestion; but watching your engineer leave the robot to get a meal... He's got a long round-trip walk to get to food & back. I suspect as your base gets larger, you'll want more food/sleep places, so they can get to those easier as well (based on playing similar games)
To do list for dev's,Priority list for colonists and robots.Sanitation update, bathrooms and waste reprocessing. These guys have been holding it to long.
Good game but here's the nit picking bit - build a spares workbench in the factory. You will be shocked at how fast you can run through them once the stuff starts braking down. No spares = no power, no water,no air = dead colonists lol. Also another airlock somewhere near the power and water so they don't have so far to walk to fix stuff. That could be a bit awkward because of your layout but it needs to be done. Before you build a landing pad put in another bio dome and different types of plants and a med pad. Also build a med dome - accidents happen a lot in the mine and during sandstorms etc. Injured people don't work - they just hang around looking sorry for themselves. Labs get you medical supplies from the med pads and synthetic meat which is good for verity. Malnutrition is a thing and often caused by a limited diet as well as running out of food. They also won't work if they're hungry - not even to grow more food. I know right!?
+Kubeface i agree with the extra exits, watching virtual hardworking spess colonists walking all the way around the base just to bring a box somewhere isnt efficient. its also almost looks like he intentionally put the metal processing facility at the worst spot possible, so the colonists need to walk EVEN MORE from a already inefficient mine to the smelters.
No one understands the dorfs. Trust me, you would not be judged for being imperfect in DF any more than on your inability to cure cancer. Derping's very much what is expected.
23:00 So, SC. You were talking about how you wouldn't mind being a colonist like in this game. Sorry to break it to you, but they don't need geologists. Now, if you were an engineer, then there might be need for you. Haha, sorry about that, but I've heard you speak of the rivalry between engineers and geologists many times and I couldn't help myself.
I don't want to take it too seriously, and I'm aware you have a slightly morose outlook sometimes (I am similar) but I think it's the little things man. And for me personally, you have often made my day better with your high grade witty banter for one thing. Not to mention your banter is often pretty educational, learning and especially teaching is very valuable. So when you say stuff like you think you haven't accomplished much I have to slightly but significantly disagree.
Not only does the solar generator rotate, it was rotating while you were talking about it not rotating. You even circled it with your mouse while it was rotating.
haha first meteor alright it was far away that's okay second wow that was a bit close I wonder why he didn't say anything third one hits you right on your base haha wasn't expecting that
It is a great game, but tough to Lets Play. If he does do a series, I hope he makes enough cuts that it doesn't become boring. I think he talked about DF in one video before, but I don't remember when.
+Isvoor in the Gnomoria series (which I was coincidentally just watching). But DF is just too niche for an LPer. There are way too many people who can't handle ASCII graphics and not knowing what the heck is going on. It's like asking for a nethack LP.
+Christoth L The problem with DF for YT is that it is hard to explain to new viewers. And then you can play for a couple of hours with almost nothing exciting happening or lose your fort in a couple of minutes. DF is an acquired taste. I'd love to see an LP too though!
+Nathan Jessep Yeah, there are some games that are interesting to play, but for the most part, dull as hell to watch. I've tried to watch a couple LPs of DF, and it was just too hard to follow. Probably is a little better if you're a player yourself, but even then I wonder how much.
Nightshade1212525 I watch DF pretty regularly and it's a lot of fun if you know what going on. It's like chess: If you don't know the rules it looks boring but if you do it can be very exciting.
wow a meteor hitting your full battery just as night starts the only thing i can think that would be worse early game is hitting a dorm and killing 18 colonists (happened to me) or hitting your colonists rite at the start, but that's not survivable
"why are we dropping off that fast"? well its because the sun went down and the solar panel is no longer producing, only the wind turbine is. this game might be too hard for you. you know, science and stuff is hard.
3:30 I have a 12 hour work shift plus 3 more cause I got to wake up 1 hour before work and stay after 1 hour to close up shop then 1 to get my ass home and sleep and this job requires so much focus too I'm usually burned out by 3pm 6 hours into the day.
Alright - just realised you have several videos after this one. What a plonker! lol still let's see how much I got right and how much you already knew. This could be fun.
what my standards are for splattercat to live for 10 mins then die from like a meteor or a giant splattercat robot is unleashed in to the world and accidentally destroys everything don't expect much I hang out here a lot he's probably going to die :)
you can make the base parts bigger btw; like if u want a much bigger wind turbine, you can make it 2x or 3x bigger.. same with all the domes and the batteries and all that. i'm not entirely sure how to do it, as the game is not released and i have not played, but prob mouse wheel or +,-
Splatter C. Gaming. It's almost like someone's name. "Can Splatter Gaming please come to the principle's office" "Death by hit and run. His name was Gaming, Splatter C"
